3K a month benefits

applecrumble03 · 19/03/2025 10:22

I had made a previous post which I believe had been taken down over a lady giving me £10 for no reason, in no way was that post to brag about my benefits I had stated how much I get a month to show I’m not struggling for money so the only reason can be I was judged on my appearance and then someone had asked if this is benefits which I said yes as I have no reason to lie. I have read a few notifications on my drop down and people saying I’m doing this to wind people up and there is no way I get 3K a month benefits, I was asking a genuine question. Some comments were quite rude. So here is how -

Universal credit for me and 2 kids plus LCWRA
£1775 - my rent gets taken straight from this I get paid £1225
high rate adult disability payment £734
Child disability payment x2 £868
Child benefit £42 a week
Scottish child payment £213

minus rent £3208 paid directly to me per month.

Now no this is not fair to people who have to work. However they are able bodied people and it’s not my fault I would much rather be healthy and live a normal life.

Ok

TY78910 · 19/03/2025 10:24

So are you sharing this to say that benefits are better than working or just stating a fact that this is how much you get? Good for you... I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

No I am making this post because I was branded a liar on my previous post? And no everyone who can work is better off working. It is miserable to be able to do nothing.

Can anybody verify these calculations? Regardless of the OP, are they possible?

😳

ZookeeperSE · 19/03/2025 10:28

Presumably you’re in Scotland? Are disability benefits devolved? Will there be any changes in assessment alongside the Westminster government plan for disability benefits overhaul?

Rosybud88 · 19/03/2025 10:28

You’d have to earn just under £52k to get that if you were working 😬

Upsetbetty · 19/03/2025 10:29

What are the disabilities you all have?

So?

How much is the health of your children worth to you?

Would you sell it for 52k a year?

Scutterbug · 19/03/2025 10:30

I think what you receive is quite unique though. The problem with posts like this, is that people assume many people are receiving similar when I would suggest your income is quite unusual due to three of you being disabled.

I’ve not seen your prior post so I don’t know the context in which you are posting but I think it’s odd to want to prove to the internet that that’s what you get. That’s like me sharing my payslip with MN and saying look how much I get paid!

I am in Scotland and no it is completely different benefits. We don’t have pip or anything. The only thing that will affect people under 22 here is LCWRA on universal credit.

Nobody else's business, tbh.

Happypeoplearehappy · 19/03/2025 10:34

How do you use the money to cover costs related to all the disabilities in your family?

This will give people a better understanding of how a chunk of this money is used up directly because of your own and your children’s disabilities.

2dogsandabudgie · 19/03/2025 10:34

If you qualify for high rate care and high rate mobility, which I presume you do given the amounts paid for you, can I ask how you cope looking after 2 disabled children? Do you pay for carers to come in and help?

OneQuirkyPanda · 19/03/2025 10:37

I would be interested to know how much of that money is spent on things related to your disabilities, as receiving the equivalent of a 52k a year salary in benefits seems extremely generous.

It’s not unique where I live, I know a handful of families where at least 2 children are in receipt of DLA, and some with 3. The parents are also on UC and PIP. They openly discuss it by asking for advice in a local FB group I am part of.

you get a carer, cleaner and such for free in Scotland if you qualify for these benefits. My children’s dad does school runs and things.

OP posts:
CrookShanx · 19/03/2025 10:41

what are your disabilities?

On the face of it that’s an obscene amount of money to be paid (plus all the freebies).

ScienceFanGirl · 19/03/2025 10:41

Equivalent of £52k pa plus carers plus a cleaner?

With so many people really struggling, this is an extremely tone deaf thread to say the least.

Its likely there will have to be to changes to ADP as it's funded in the same way PIP is. So the Scottish government will either have to match the English changes or find the extra money to cover what will be reduced for it

Yeah. Bloody odd. If this was in the context of AMA I might have been a bit more open.
