3K a month benefits

applecrumble03 · 19/03/2025 10:22

I had made a previous post which I believe had been taken down over a lady giving me £10 for no reason, in no way was that post to brag about my benefits I had stated how much I get a month to show I’m not struggling for money so the only reason can be I was judged on my appearance and then someone had asked if this is benefits which I said yes as I have no reason to lie. I have read a few notifications on my drop down and people saying I’m doing this to wind people up and there is no way I get 3K a month benefits, I was asking a genuine question. Some comments were quite rude. So here is how -

Universal credit for me and 2 kids plus LCWRA
£1775 - my rent gets taken straight from this I get paid £1225
high rate adult disability payment £734
Child disability payment x2 £868
Child benefit £42 a week
Scottish child payment £213

minus rent £3208 paid directly to me per month.

Now no this is not fair to people who have to work. However they are able bodied people and it’s not my fault I would much rather be healthy and live a normal life.

OP I wouldn't swap with you, and I suspect not many would if actually offered the choice. It must be really hard being a disabled adult with two disabled children.

Bit confused about the free carers and cleaners though - is that charity funded as I have family in Scotland and they most definitely don't get this!

I imagine full time caring for them, for life.

Disgusting view.

Do you have children? Are they happy and healthy? If so, be fucking thankful.

Regardless of your thoughts on OP, what a fucking horrible thing to say about two disabled kids. Jesus.

Why would they be in full time care?

That is one of the alternatives on offer if OP didn’t get the financial support she does for their disabilities.

Why would that be the assumption? The majority of adults and children in this country receiving disability benefits do not have conditions that require a life long carer.

I don’t think it’s disgusting at all, it’s the reality. One of OP’s children is 17, she’s going to have to think of alternative means to raise income.

So ask “what’s your plan for when your child turns 18” without referring to disabled children as ‘cash cows’. Because the former is a reasonable question whereas the second is just embarrassing yourself by being an absolute arsehole.

ARichtGoodDram · 19/03/2025 10:44

I don't know anyone in Scotland who gets a free cleaner.

That sounds like abject nonsense to me

At it to stir it up.

You don't think calling 2 children who clearly have severe disabilities "cash cows" is disgusting?

If that was your question you could have simply asked what her plan was when her children are 18.

Why? Why would they go into care if she got, for example, 25k rather than 52k?

Charcadet · 19/03/2025 10:55

A yacht wouldn't cover my household's benefits for very long @Wildflowers99 but I have used them productively and paid off my mortgage and have goats in the acres surrounding my house.

The billions being spent on Thames water on the other hand...

LadyRoughDiamond · 19/03/2025 10:55

Well you may be bringing in a large amount of money, but it’s clearly not great for your mental health as the main thing in your life right now appears to be be whether a stranger on an internet forum has accused you of lying.

Having googled it, you can get free help with care/cleaning such as laundry service in Scotland but you either apply for it through the Council or you get direct payments to fund it yourself, you don't get both.

UrsulasHerbBag · 19/03/2025 10:57

Every day there seems to be 3/4 threads designed to rile everyone up about benefits.

BodenCardiganNot · 19/03/2025 10:57

What age are your children?

Pickledpoppetpickle · 19/03/2025 10:58

Rosybud88 · 19/03/2025 10:28

You’d have to earn just under £52k to get that if you were working 😬

Yes. But even if the OP worked part time on minimum wage, she would still be topped up but would be making a contribution towards her costs. Most families who receive benefits are also in work.

The OP quite clearly has some issues with disabilities herself and also for her children. This would make work difficult and more many, depending on circumstances, impossible. She could give up her children and put them in care, costing way more than she gets in benefits. Would that help, perhaps?

SandlersToe · 19/03/2025 10:58

Benefit bashers frothing on a Wednesday morning. What a life to live.

Crunchymum · 19/03/2025 10:58

If your other thread was deleted then this is a TAAT so will be zapped too.

I too cannot understand the point of posting?

What do you expect people to say?

Yes you'd rather have your health but the fact is there are people who will be in a similar situation who get nothing like the amount you get. This thread is tone deaf and goady at best.

HeadNorth · 19/03/2025 10:59

Just for context, I live in Scotland and we pay more income tax to cover the more generous system up here.

LilacPeer · 19/03/2025 11:00

Wildflowers99 · 19/03/2025 10:27

Can anybody verify these calculations? Regardless of the OP, are they possible?

yes, theyre absolutely possible. And more. OPs rent is very low, this portion of UC allowance can be much much higher in other parts of the UK.

PandoraSox · 19/03/2025 11:01

Why was your other thread taken down @applecrumble03 ?

MounjaMum · 19/03/2025 11:01

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 19/03/2025 10:48

It’s not your business quite frankly, I’m sure the OP and her children face difficulties in life owing to them all being disabled thus she gets money to support with this

The OP has made it our business!
If she is happy to give a detailed account of how much she gets, then she should be transparent on what disabilities and expenditure - otherwise it just comes across as a post to rile people up!

I don’t use my kids as cash cows, child benefit and Scottish child payment everyone is entitled to?

Equivalent of £52k pa plus carers plus a cleaner?

With so many people really struggling, this is an extremely tone deaf thread to say the least.
