PIP for ADHD

marshmallowmix · 16/03/2025 10:20

Been in the news this morning as labour looking to slash benefits bills the cost is enormous and growing.

One of the main points discussed was getting PIP for ADHD I did not think this was possible …🤔.

We are taxed more than ever so cuts will abve to be made but surely this is madness giving out PIP for ADHD …there are genuine claims but… they said there are a 1000 new people per day now claiming PIP…so those on the make are going to spoil or for genuine a claims but something is very wrong 😦with the benefits system.

The numbers we are spending on benefits are incredible …let’s see what they slash but cuts are coming under Labour as it’s got out of hand.

ADHD is not a disability.

Oh my word. You didn't even Google. How embarrassing.

ADHD is recognised in the UK as a disability under the 2010 Equalities Act if it impairs your ability to work and live normally.

Blackbookofsmiles1 · 16/03/2025 19:45

Mumsnet is out of touch when it comes to benefits, they think everyone is honest and in need and there is no such thing as fraudulent claims….they just don’t live in the real world amongst the benefit claimants. Their ignorance is laughable and why it’s so easy to manipulate the system. Everyone knows you say a few “buzz words” to the doctors and then PIP inspectors and then after the rejection letter, appeal and you get it.

You think courts hand out pip Willy nilly?

Nn9011 · 16/03/2025 20:37

It sounds like you actually don't know what you're talking about at all.
For a start pip is for people who are disabled and ADHD can be a disability for some people. The fact that you don't even know that it would potentially be considered a disability shows that you aren't qualified to decide if that should be given pip or not.

Secondly, we could raise approximately 50 billion pounds just by collecting the taxes that are owed to hmrc by large companies millionaires and billionaires living in the UK. The money they're trying to cut from benefits is only 6 billion. So by not harming our most vulnerable in society and actually doing what the current laws set out. We could actually make more money.

This is the problem, this is the real problem we have at the minute. People are being put against each other, whether it's ableism, classism, racism, sexism etc. it is being used as a weapon so that we target each other and ignore the fact that the government actually lets companies away with only paying 2% tax compared to the 20% tax most of us pay each year.

Threads like this and opinions like yours will only serve to harm you and everyone else in the long run. I'd highly encourage you to go and do some research before you start spouting this type of nonsense.

Typos. Just typos. It happens when people get passionate about something. Also, pulling people up on spelling and grammar is the lowest of the low. Don't do it.

Ever so sorry for the typo - it’s a tad hard on my phone without glasses.

Would you like me to genuflect as well?

You really are not painting yourself in a pleasant light on this thread.

marshmallowmix · 17/03/2025 07:30

I’m fine thank you I think you’ll find that it’s you who looks bad as you can’t accept a different opinion that’s not in agreement with your own …that is shared by many …who don’t want to say anything as they get the treatment on here I’ve had on this thread! It’s shameful.

Ever heard of the phrase the silent majority.

Have a great day I certainly will…

Your ‘opinion’ was based on you not understanding ADHD and believing someone gif a free £50000 BMW.

You were ablist to top it all off.

And now the only thing you’ve got appears to be sneering at people’s typos.

SleeplessinPendle · 17/03/2025 07:41

I don't believe that there is a silent majority that agree with you. The other thread focuses on different issues, like anxiety and depression. I'm sure you will have a wonderful day, as you take great pleasure from attacking disabled people, this will set you up for a couple of days, it is pathetic. You still haven't covered my question on how much you contribute to society. Probably because you do not contribute anything.

SleeplessinPendle · 17/03/2025 07:45

Ah yes, an advanced search shows you're unemployed. An able bodied person sneering at the resources disabled people use, pathetic.

OriginalUsername2 · 17/03/2025 07:48

The treatment you’ve had on this thread is people telling you what you’ve gotten wrong. Your uneducated opinion is harmful. Your response is immature.

marshmallowmix · 17/03/2025 07:51

Haha stalking now to add to rudeness.

Nastiness on this thread knows no bounds …must be getting desperate when you are doing an advanced search on posters!!

I think 🤔 that is harassment ?!

FYI …I am actually employed now hence saying I’ll be having a good day ….new job and all that !

OP posts:

Try not to share your personal views there, so you hang onto this one eh. I can assure you it does not equate to harassment.

marshmallowmix · 17/03/2025 08:08

It is harassment you said you did an advanced search on me ! I never knew that even existed …you have the problem not me.

OP posts:
SleeplessinPendle · 17/03/2025 08:09

Maybe by your definition. From a legal perspective, it is not.

This makes no sense your post …mumsnet is for sharing personal views that is the purpose of this site to discuss view points.

It is harassment my sister is a solicitor …you are stalking me and looking at me with an “advanced search” and announced I was unemployed …it’s no okay !!

No, not at all everyone is allowed their viewpoint …

I just heard a poll on TV and 84% agrees that the benefits bill is way too high …it’s gone up 40% since Covid!

So my view is widely held just not in the echo chamber on this thread …

I agree the benefits bill is too high. I also agree that pretty much everyone getting PIP needs it currently. The two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Your poll is immaterial

The answer is better funding for mental health support and legislation that supports people into work properly (I’m so for the “right to try” bill that’s being pushed).

most disabled people would prefer to work and be off benefits. However we live in an ablist society that rarely gives people with disabilities the chance or understands / can be bothered with the adaptations required so they don’t hire in the first place.

Resolve that and down goes your benefits bill and up goes your tax revenue.

51% of people thought Brexit was a good idea…….

ShhhhhItsASurprise · 17/03/2025 08:56

and just like Brexit, the 49% if the population that are of below average intelligence (that’s just maths) were fooled by the media pointing fingers at the “bad guys” and so they aimed their pitchforks thus.

They’ve been doing the same with benefits claimants for years. But you never see headlines about the apparently-legal-tax evasion of Amazon, Boots etc that could top up the public finances handsomely, do you?
