What are your hit and miss buys off Instagram? Or is it just me that’s gullible 😀

Misses- Tallow and Ash perfume laundry liquid. I was completely taken in by that one and I just hope I haven’t set up
a subscription, The smells sounded divine but in reality there is only a faint one that fades very quickly, and the wash power isn’t as good as regular detergent at all.
Lemonade Dolls the less said the better I’m just not an inclusive person I guess. Products gorgeous though.

Hits cube packing bags that are slightly vacuum have been a game changer.
Oat Pantry over night oats have converted me and I do feel abit healthier 😀.
Valentte diffusers last forever and beautiful scents.

i do really need to reign myself in though. Anyone else buy because of Instagram?

Has anyone tried the Wype gel? The adverts are stalking me around FB atm...

Yes I bought some. I quite like it. Definatly makes you feel cleaner and fresher and only a tiny amount used each time.

Hits - Sonagi, the Korean face sheet mask subscription. Currently on my second box with a few masks to get through before the next box arrives, the pressure! I’ve loved every mask so far, my skin has been glowing.

destiel00 · 16/03/2025 16:14

Yep!
Tallow and Ash - quite liked the scent but so £££ so won't order again

Zing toothpaste - brilliant would recommend

Purdy & Fig - smells nice, not sure it cleans that well. Won't order again.

Valente - very good products - will purchase again

Ffern - haven't bought yet but am always SO tempted

Big bloomers bras - utterly useless, no support at all

Any HG cleaning products I've used have been great 👍

MightyBust · 16/03/2025 16:25

Thanks @GenerousGardener!

I also quite liked the boody things I've bought.

I got sucked in by adverts for Sassy Saints dip powder nail kit and have to say I bloody love it. I’ve never been one for salon nails but I love feeling a bit more well turned out. (Maybe one for you @MarigoldCherry ?). But they do take a long time and there is a definite knack to getting them looking good - joining the Facebook group and reading as many tips as possible beforehand is highly recommend. Also don’t love how highly moderated the group is as feels a bit like they’re hiding bad reviews. However, I can forgive them as I genuinely just spend ages staring at my nice nails whenever I do a set.

Fail was the Snackcidents cookie dough - wanted to love them but even the kids weren’t impressed and they’ll eat anything sweet.

Oh I have found my people! I thought I was un-influence-able but no, here I am with a dent in my bank account the same size as:

Decypher foundation, scan your face and get the perfect shade. No. Horrendous. Smells like paint and the worst colour match I’ve ever had. Also far too thick/heavy. Easy to get a refund though.

Some airwrap hair styler thing. Took ages to come (from China, of course, despite the website saying they were UK). Wouldn’t honour the refund. £60 in the bin. The even more stupid thing is, I already had a Shark FlexStyle; what on earth is wrong with me!

Laura Geller foundation. Now, I should have known, because I am the palest of pale. I get compliments galore on my skin when I wear my usual tinted serum skin tint which is about £10. But no, I have to believe there’s something better out there (see hair styler fail, above). Orange. Dark orange. Easy refund, thank god.

I nearly fell for a grey hair influencer (who I otherwise really rate) and her Champo hair growth bollocks. Thankfully I have now learned to check TrustPilot reviews if I am even vaguely tempted.

This thread has also reminded me to ignore the Korean glass skin woman who is touting the cushion foundation at me whenever I open Insta.

Edited

I bought that Champo hair serum on a whim. Shan't expect much of that now!
Tried Ill Makiage. Bad colour match and coverage.
I want to try Halara jeans and that NMN supplement

SoScarletItWas · 16/03/2025 16:32

@Takentomybed the only things that’s saved me from Halara is they aren’t long enough 😆

Doyouthinktheyknow · 16/03/2025 16:32

Came on to say Shapermint camisoles, they are so comfortable and they do create smooth lines. I absolutely love them.

I did buy a couple of the bras as well and jury is out really, wore one for a night shift last night and it wasn’t the most comfortable thing but nothing much is comfortable on a night shift so I’ll try them again. Cup support was great, I just felt I was being slightly cut in 2!

Takentomybed · 16/03/2025 16:47

@SoScarletItWas well I'm a short arse so I'm still tempted haha

AwakeNotThruChoice · 16/03/2025 16:50

NO idea you can buy stuff off Instagram

Bimblebombzle · 16/03/2025 16:51

haufbiskiy · 15/03/2025 19:49

Il makiage - fine if you want to look like you’re wearing stage makeup. the colour match is hit and miss

uk lash - crap. I’m going back to revitalash

smooche lip plumper - the extreme one does something get temporarily. The standard one does nothing

the purple toothpaste - can’t remember the name but it’s absolutely crap and does nothing (edit Hismile - don’t buy it)

purdy and fig cleaner. Smells lovely for ten seconds max. Then it smells of nothing

Edited

Glad you said that about Purdy and Figg. You can easily make your own with a tiny bit of washing up liquid to stop oil separating and some drops of essential oil...which I have done.

I was tempted with Wype too. Mentioned to the husband who just did an eye roll…might have to order some now and give him a fresh bum 😁

DenmarkStreet · 16/03/2025 17:07

Actually some of my more expensive purchases this year has been influenced by Instagram and I've been really happy with them

Celtic and co woollen jumper. Lovely quality and has saved the winter for me.
Unfolded summer dress, very good quality and you can tell it has been sewn more carefully than your standard high street dress. Needs to be ironed though.
Rainsisters rain coat. Real leap of faith as expensive but I love it, worth every penny.

Was it Saltworks perfume? If so, that’s another miss for me too. 12 mini perfumes which smell cheap and nasty. Can’t believe I was sucked in by the cheesy instagram ads with people claiming every time they wear their Saltworks fragrance, they get chased down the street with people asking what it is 🙈

Sidebeforeself · 16/03/2025 19:12

Yes Saltworks was a miss for me too. They all smelt the same!

Got a Scoup spoon on order …let see . Hope its ok as it was a gift

Sidebeforeself · 16/03/2025 19:13

Oh a Trinny stuff..a sort of miracle balm that made fine lines disappear? It just made my money disappear!

triggers34 · 16/03/2025 19:16

@JulietSierra Yes that's the one .

So on the back of this thread I've ordered foundation to try , I resisted the subscription for a free brush though .

MightyBust · 16/03/2025 19:24

@handsdownthebest, my family are currently eyerolling too 😄.

Delatron · 16/03/2025 19:31

Miss: Tallow & Ash. Loved the premise - but when I ordered they were having huge supply issues so it took weeks to arrive and they weren’t answering emails. Scent did not last.

Purdy & Fig. Accidentally subscribed, kept forgetting to cancel. I have many bottles of this bloody stuff. And yes would be cheaper to just use essential oil.

Not sure how many successes I have had….

Actually I do really like the Clearly mushroom coffee but it’s very expensive

This is good to know as I kept meaning to try - completely sucked in.

Southwest12 · 16/03/2025 20:18

Love the Valenette diffusers I've ordered, have had two lots so far.

Also really like the AKT deodorant cream. I got the unscented to use on my face in Greece as was at a conference and didn't want my face sweating and ruining my make up. It really worked. Have since got a scented one and it is great.

Purdy and Fig is a total waste of money. Some smell nice but the smells doesn't last at all. I canceled the subscription as soon as the order came.

Pinkissmart · 16/03/2025 21:52

I bought the colour changing lamp thingy for Christmas for 2 family members. Love it, and they both love it ☺️
