What are your hit and miss buys off Instagram? Or is it just me that’s gullible 😀

Misses- Tallow and Ash perfume laundry liquid. I was completely taken in by that one and I just hope I haven’t set up
a subscription, The smells sounded divine but in reality there is only a faint one that fades very quickly, and the wash power isn’t as good as regular detergent at all.
Lemonade Dolls the less said the better I’m just not an inclusive person I guess. Products gorgeous though.

Hits cube packing bags that are slightly vacuum have been a game changer.
Oat Pantry over night oats have converted me and I do feel abit healthier 😀.
Valentte diffusers last forever and beautiful scents.

i do really need to reign myself in though. Anyone else buy because of Instagram?

I’m glad I’ve read this thread…I’ve been so tempted to order from Lemonade Dolls, but I’m a 36G and so I won’t bother now!

@haufbiskiy does revitalash have that ingredient in that darkens/reddens eyelids? I used to use rapidlash but my eyelids looked terrible!

Miss - blue wave tool for neck pain sold by James (the sexy) osteopath. Was too big for little me - obv built for a man’s frame.

So tempted - Happy Mammoth hormone harmony… suspiciously amazing Trust Pilot reviews. Has anyone tried it?

I tried the happy mammoth hormone balance capsules. I thought they were working at first but I stopped taking them as I couldn't swallow them easily. Coming off them I didn't notice any difference.

Love Tallow & Ash, Cornish Seaweed shampoo and conditioner and my big norks crop top from Big Bloomers!
Hate the eye and lip pencil I bought from Zoeva - Superdrug would have been better.
Anyone tried Halara jeans?

Some of the eyelash serums contain prostaglandins which make eyelids look darker and sap the fat from around the eye area.

I’ve never had any problems with darkening or pigmentation using revitalash. It seems like it does nothing for two months and then suddenly you have lashes that hit the tops of your eyes. It’s much pricier than the other brands though which is why I thought I’d give Uk lash a go but it was a waste of money.

Happyearlyretirement · 15/03/2025 22:13

valentte absolutely amazing and has saved me a fortune in the past I’d but Jo Malone diffusers, not any more. Purdy and Figg really wanted to support a British company, not impressed at all. Lemonade underwear filled my basket then looked at legitimate reviews saved myself a fortune. But can’t rate Valentte highly enough.

Lovemybunnies · 15/03/2025 22:24

Lawnpack is my hit if you have a rubbish lawn. Lemonade dolls was an absolute miss as it’s nowhere near my size (34 E) and they only give you 14 days to return so I’m stuck with it.

Myspinebrokefromcarryingus · 15/03/2025 22:32

I bought the Cornish seaweed company's shampoo and conditioner after an ad on IG, it's absolutely FANTASTIC, so glad I took a risk with it!
I've tried a lot of shampoos for my fine brittle hair, but this one is so lovely!

notnorman · 15/03/2025 22:38

Halará wide leg jeans are amazing and I live in mine!!!

Oceangrey · 15/03/2025 22:45

I've used revitalash before and it's excellent.i want to buy it again - anyone seen a good discount code?

I'm getting loads of ads for the La Mansio backpack/handbag and am pretty tempted, but it's a new product for them and not out yet so no reviews available. It does look very clever and pretty ideal for someone like me with a corporate job, tube commute and some travel

I bought Only Curls stuff thanks to Instagram and it's pretty good but I've gone back to purology now.

Overhaul54 · 15/03/2025 22:51

Purdy and Figg. Smelt too disgusting to even try. Sent it back but no refund. Unfortunately I bought it at Christmas and lost the returns receipt in post Christmas clear out so couldn’t chase them.
Given their returns page says “ send us the receipt and we’ll sort it out” I think their policy is to not refund until you chase them.
Still cross they have my money,

CointreauVersial · 15/03/2025 23:02

I've been tempted by lots of stuff (Il Makiage, magnetic eyelashes), but as far as I remember, the only thing I have actually pushed the button on was a SHO thermos flask for food, which I bought for DD1 to take to work. It was pretty good, with an integrated spoon and cup, in a groovy colour, and cheap enough that I wasn't too fussed if it turned out rubbish.

I have however been "influenced" many times, and have bought all sorts of clothing, jewellery and household stuff recommended by people I follow, mostly winners. And have even bought pre-owned clothing/accessories directly from influencers who were selling them off. One being my favourite handbag, from Arket, purchased for half the price it would have been new.

LunarValleyInMyMind · 15/03/2025 23:16

halara jeans! they feel like wearing pyjamas and I never want to go back to proper jeans

AppleCelebration · 15/03/2025 23:21

Tallow and Ash smells nice but it’s hit or miss whether the scent sticks. However I love their fabric sprays and would definitely buy it again.

GeorgeOrwellsTurningGrave · 15/03/2025 23:25

Great thread.

Wins: GenSee make up. Manners London dress, Down Dog subscription, Yantra mat and DeafMetal jewellery. FFS shaving kit

Fails: Il Makiage foundation. Great if you want to look like a panto dame, I guess. Has the consistency of poured concrete and its base is Tango orange.
Ffern perfume - scent lasted minutes and then evaporated to nothingness
Jones Road Beauty Balm - just shove vaseline on your face and be done with it. It'll be cheaper.

EachandEveryone · 15/03/2025 23:43

I now need to look up Halara jeans 😀

Valentte rosemary diffuser for me. My en suite has this weird thing where it eats scent - I can put the most overpowering thing in there and nothing at all, yet move it into another bathroom and it’s overwhelming!
Valentte rosemary actually smells in there and it lasts well for me

MaltipooMama · 16/03/2025 08:21

@haufbiskiy no not for me personally but I guess it reacts differently to different people maybe. I’ve only ever used the smallest squirt on an oval foundation and it’s always given me perfect coverage, and that’s comparing it to the YSL touche eclat that I used to use prior. I suppose it’s just hit and miss and the accuracy of the colour match probably makes a big difference too

redpickle · 16/03/2025 08:35

Foldie bag! It’s just a nylon bag with cheap plastic zips and rings for the straps. Took forever to come from China, even though the company is supposed to be UK/Europe based. Even with the bogof deal, they’re not worth it.

JulietSierra · 16/03/2025 08:42

Only Curls was a big hit from instagram.
JSL essentials was another curly brand I was convinced to buy from Instagram….total waste of money.

Dellaandthedealer · 16/03/2025 08:42

I really like my Foldie bag!

HelenWheels · 16/03/2025 08:45

some magnet game which turned out to be more expensive than advertised and shipped from america!
i gave it as a chirstmas present but i dont know whether it was ever played/appreciated

Catsinaflat · 16/03/2025 08:45

I never ever buy things from ads … until this morning when I was laying in bed with an aching knee. I bought some Wellknee patches that I assume are similar to deep heat patches. I paid using PayPal instant payment for one pack with 70% discount. Didn’t realise till five mins later I have been charged the full price £48 instead of £14. I straight away tried to cancel but don’t hold out much hope Angry

@Splcam , can you tell me about the steamer thing that means you never iron?
