Tiramisu.

I'm about to try some.
I know I'm not going to like it, but hey ho! 😅

Anything you've yet to try?

I had it at my dds recently it's delicious I don't know why I hadn't tried it before.

It was probably the colour or the thought of it being too fishy maybe?

ExtraDecluttering · 02/03/2025 18:38

I love taramasalata, I remember a flatmate bringing some home back in the late 80s and we were all wow!

I’ve never had eels, don’t like the thought of them.

theboffinsarecoming · 02/03/2025 18:39

I will not and cannot ever contemplate eating an oyster.

Mother Nature put them at the bottom of the sea for a reason.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 02/03/2025 18:39

Pork crackling. Just no. I'm never going to be old enough for that.

TheOGCCL · 02/03/2025 18:40

I've never eaten a steak. I'm not a vegetarian/vegan even.

The idea of just eating a slab of meat has never appealed.

Globe artichokes are delicious. I will never knowingly eat Jerusalem artichokes again: they do not agree with me!

Never had ostrich or alligator.

Hello, fellow GA fan!

Shame you don't like Jerusalem artichokes... presumably it's the farting that's disagreeable? I'm single, so it's less of a problem. 😀

MasterBeth · 02/03/2025 18:44

Am I wrong to find this thread a bit confusing?

Are people boasting that they are fussy about perfectly normal foods that millions of people eat? That they've never even tried them? (How do they know they don't like them?)

Or are they pointing out that it's odd they haven't tried them, in which case, can't they tell us why?

If you're British, in your 50s and you've never had a cup of tea, a fried egg or baked beans, there has to be a story behind it, doesn't there?

Question285 · 02/03/2025 18:45

I love trying new foods, so I’ve eaten almost everything mentioned at least once. Never had snails though and I don’t think I ever will.

Dustmylemonlies · 02/03/2025 18:47

Anything in the 'gunky seafood' bracket - squid, oysters etc.

Also tripe - because why would you if you had a choice??

Dustmylemonlies · 02/03/2025 18:47

Black pudding is surprisingly nice! 👌

Coffeeishot · 02/03/2025 18:47

I don't think people are being "fussy " about not trying offal or seafood they just don't fancy trying them.

Pork crackling. Just no. I'm never going to be old enough for that.

I last made pork crackling when spending Christmas two years ago with my late mum. I have to say it was gorgeous 🥰

However I will never try pork scratchings crisps.

Dustmylemonlies · 02/03/2025 18:49

@OutwiththeOutCrowd my son and I have literally just gobbled up crackling with our roast dinner tonight. Bloody lovely!

Funnywonder · 02/03/2025 18:49

Artichoke
Game of any description
Bread and butter pudding - not a big thing in NI, but I quite like the idea of it.

lovemycbf · 02/03/2025 18:50

Thatwouldbeme · 02/03/2025 17:05

Oysters, just don't think I could swallow them down 🤮

Me neither 🤢 phlegm in a shell yuck 🤮

AlmostCutMyHairToday · 02/03/2025 18:51

Never had tripe. I'm from a european city where tripe is the regional dish. Blurgh.

MasterBeth · 02/03/2025 18:52

Coffeeishot · 02/03/2025 18:47

I don't think people are being "fussy " about not trying offal or seafood they just don't fancy trying them.

Yeah, because they are fussy.

Daftsheep · 02/03/2025 18:53

Not tried oysters really don't fancy them. Have had squid (fresh out the sea) and it was good, not tried octopus though don't fancy it either.

Drinks wise I've never had Buckfast, it sounds quite disgusting, was never an option when I was younger and won't be trying it now haha.

Please tell me where you get your razor clams.

Most recently Bradley’s Fish. I’m in the North West so my choices are limited to buying online.

CrystalSingerFan · 02/03/2025 18:54

Stai · 02/03/2025 18:15

A lot of Italian restaurants do a bottaga pasta. It’s delicious. Our local in North London does it, it’s my go to order.

Thanks! I'll keep trying.

Sadly, even by the Devon coast, I haven't spotted it on any seafood menus. Plus as I'm single, ordering a big portion online's a bit much for just me. 😥

@Offleyhoo @Ughouchargh @EggandStress

Well I don’t like coffee, chocolate or cream so… 😂

I’ve tried it now, and it is ok.
Not spit it out of your mouth disgusting, but I think I can live without it!
It was a dessert part of a M&S meal deal so I thought I’d be brave and give it a go.
DH will happily polish it off so no wastage!

I don't think that follows, I love coffee, chocolate and cream, but not a fan of tiramasu!

Thomasina79 · 02/03/2025 18:58

Ughouchargh · 02/03/2025 17:04

Come back and tell us when you realise you love it.

I have never eaten oysters or aubergine.

Veal out of principle. Because of the cruel way the animals are treated. Never see the light of day. And I am an (occasional) meat eater!

louderthan · 02/03/2025 18:58

Brie
Camembert
Stilton
Steak tartare

Tea.
Regular English type tea. The smell has always made me feel sick from early childhood, which was problematic as my parents drank it all the time. It literally makes me want to vomit. When people drink it at work I eat a strong mint to block out the horrendous smell.

Same! I worked on a cafe from 16 serving tea and hated the smell so I've never tried it!

Tiramisu is ok, i love the flavours, but Squishy sponge, like the sponge in trifle is rank. Also love the flavours in trifle so its clearly a texture thing for me!

Dustmylemonlies · 02/03/2025 18:47

Black pudding is surprisingly nice! 👌

Yes, I know it is, and I used to eat it until I found out what it's made of, and that put me off somewhat.
