Tiramisu.

I'm about to try some.
I know I'm not going to like it, but hey ho! 😅

Anything you've yet to try?

I'll try anything! Fermented shark, snails, camel, brain, crocodile, chicken feet, duck feet, jellyfish, pigs ear to name a few.

I'd like to try BBQ'd witchetty grubs.

I haven't tried casu martzu https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casu_martzu nor
Balut https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_(food) but I'm not convinced I'd really want to eat them!

For Tiramisu lovers, did you know Carte D’or do a lovely Tiramisu ice-cream? It’s very nice.

Wow did not know this! have to do a food shop tomorrow and am going to look out for this as it sounds like my idea of heaven.

saveforthat · 02/03/2025 17:11

Well it depends if you like coffee or not.

I like coffee, but could take or leave tiramisù. Also, I like raisins, but only on their own, never "plumped up" in desserts. Or chocolate mixed with other flavors, I prefer to have it on its own.

Bumblebeebumbl · 02/03/2025 18:25

I have not tried:

Snails
Frog Legs
Oysters

I am sure they are more.

Mirabai · 02/03/2025 18:25

Never eaten chicken nugget, Pot Noodle, or a kebab from a kebab shop.

Love snails, caviare, oysters if they’re cooked. Tried frogs legs - they weren’t very exciting. Tried offal but I don’t like it, draw the line at brains and tripe.

Miaowzabella · 02/03/2025 18:25

Andouille
Brains

FridgeJenga · 02/03/2025 18:25

Don't like matcha or salted caramel flavoured anything.

OP posts:
greengreyblue · 02/03/2025 18:26

In my 50s and never eaten tripe , tongue or heart. This is not likely to change.
I ate oysters once and got terrible food poisoning from them( sister did too and we had them together) so that’s not to be repeated.

I would like tiramisu if it didn’t have mascarpone in it. I’ve made it with English custard instead and it was good.

Coconuthotchocolate · 02/03/2025 18:27

A McDonald’s.

A McDonald’s.

I have eaten McDonald’s but not since 1989.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 02/03/2025 18:29

deeahgwitch · 02/03/2025 17:35

Haggis
Tripe
Crubeens ( boiled pig's feet - a "delicacy" in Ireland )
Frogs legs.

Crubeens aren't a delicacy. They were cheap peasant food. I don't know any Irish person under the age of 75 who has eaten them. I think there are some touristy places that sell them.

I used to buy & cook brains myself.

I last had them in Rome, probably >10 years ago.

Didn't know they weren't allowed now - just hadn't seen them as it's a long trek to a proper butcher from where I live.

Wow! Not done that.

But, as every day's a schoolday on Mumsnet, I just learned this from a moderately reliable source: "Brains aren't the easiest of ingredients to source in the UK. The brains from calves (cows under 12 months old), lambs (sheep under 12 months old) and pigs have been approved for consumption by the Foods Standards Agency, but the sale of cows’ and sheeps' brains (from animals more than one year old) is banned in the UK."

I'll ask my local and completely fab farm shop.

48 and only tried mussels this week - won't be doing that again

FridgeJenga · 02/03/2025 18:31

Thanks everyone who explained what white pudding is.
Another pass from me then.

Love fish and seafood when we are on holiday, as then it’s guaranteed they’re proper fresh.
We got a huge amount of monkfish and lobsters for not much money when we went to Newlyn Fish Market just before closing time, much to the horror of my American BIL 😅

I'm in my 60s and I've never eaten tiramisu! Or most of the things on this thread. I was brought up with the most conservative of meals, meat and two veg, and the veg seldom varied. I was definitely into my 20s before sampling Chinese or Indian food (which was hard to get when I was growing up) and I think I've just never been adventurous with eating. I'm a very old-fashioned 'plain' eater - my adult children tease me about it. But I like plain, unadventurous food, and a meat and two veg (or three veg more often) dinner is my favourite meal.

AlwaysPerplexed · 02/03/2025 18:33

I never ate taramasalata until I was in my 60s, the colour put me off for a start. Then I had some - well I have wasted so many years not eating it!

LadyLapsang · 02/03/2025 18:34

Durian fruit, jellied eels, fried egg and Nando’s.

LillyPJ · 02/03/2025 18:35

Over 60. Have eaten brains, cod roe, heart, tripe, liver, horse meat. But never had eels or snails - and never will.

Get around to it! Globe artichokes are my favourite vegetable. Serve with buttler and lemon jouice. Jerusalem are good too...

Globe artichokes are delicious. I will never knowingly eat Jerusalem artichokes again: they do not agree with me!

Never had ostrich or alligator.

macaroonmayhem · 02/03/2025 18:37

Curry of any sort and shellfish
