Been gifted £2,000, with the only prerequisite being that it’s a treat for me (rather than the house etc). Please inspire me, what would you buy?

A holiday for sure.

iloveeverykindofcat · 28/02/2025 18:30

I had something like this once. I hadn't had a holiday in years. Booked four nights/five days in a really nice hotel in the city, turned my phone notifications off, swam and went in the sauna/spa jacuzzi all morning and watched films and read all afternoon.

It was bloody amazing😂

Praying4Peace · 28/02/2025 19:23

Holiday to an interesting city

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 28/02/2025 19:47

Taking notes for when someone kindly gifts me some spending £££.

Another suggestion is good garden furniture. Not so much a treaty treat but would bring pleasure every time you're out there.

Also a good solid piece of furniture.

Getting favourite pictures professionally framed.

A cruise

I've just been quoted 2400 for Invisalign treatment so I'd go with that!

Bargain!

I've been quoted double that as a starting point

But to answer the OP I'd probably go for a short holiday and a some new clothes.

HazelShark · 28/02/2025 21:41

Id put it towards a horse trailer..but thats pretty niche.

If i didnt have a horse to waste it on, definately a new (good quality) wardrobe and new shoes, a spa day and anything left over on wine/chocs/a massive takeaway.

I'd buy the dcs something, sorry

Why? Apart from the fact the OP said the prerequisite was she spent it on herself, why do you not consider yourself worthy of a treat?

mjf981 · 01/03/2025 03:24

I know you said a treat for yourself, but I'm a strong believer in passing on goodwill. So I'd probably give 10% of it to a food bank, or do a big food shop for them. Pay it forward.

So many good options
laser cutting machine
fume hood
pattern projector
resin printer + washing and curing
vibratory tumbler with walnut shell media

MadeofCheeese · 01/03/2025 07:10

I had this in October. I had my house deep cleaned, garden tidied. Bought Halloween and Christmas decorations and a spa weekend ☺️

I would buy some Thales shares or Rheinmetal shares.

zaxxon · 01/03/2025 08:18

I'd give the whole lot to charity ........ nahhh who am I kidding? Actually I'd pay some people to paint every room in my house and get our new purple sofa reupholstered (a costly mistake)

OP could already be doing that already, this is about what to spend the £ on as a treat for herself.

pearbottomjeans · 01/03/2025 09:28

I’d buy a piano and/or an eternity ring 😁 actually or get someone in to sort out the garden, but that won’t last.

OhCobblers · 01/03/2025 09:30

Some toward a City break so that I'm not staying in a Best Western (caveat to say I think they're great but nearly always stay in them when I'm paying!).

A really lovely pendant or earrings.

A lovely handbag around £300 so can be used most days.

Enjoy your spending Op!!

Ooh, reupholstering sofas is a good shout.

A good bed from the French Bedroom Company.
I always brose and drool every so often.
I have so much in online baskets, the only way to get it all is if I won the lottery!

CrescentMoonLanding · 01/03/2025 09:31

I'd go to a department store you like and have a personal shopper appointment (free at John Lewis for example) and buy a new wardrobe. Followed by fancy lunch and a spa trip.

OhCobblers · 01/03/2025 09:31

FondantFancyFan · 27/02/2025 19:25

I would buy myself this emerald ring:

Emerald solitaire ring

@FondantFancyFan thank you for introducing me to a new jewellery company that I didn't need to know about!! Grin

PoorLion · 01/03/2025 09:34

I would buy jewellery and a city break

healthybychristmas · 01/03/2025 09:42

What are your interests? Is there anything about yourself that you would like to change e.g. weight, fitness, skills?

LeaveALittleNote · 01/03/2025 09:52

Oooh imagine this! I’d buy myself some nice clothes and go on a cruise.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/03/2025 10:08
