Been gifted £2,000, with the only prerequisite being that it’s a treat for me (rather than the house etc). Please inspire me, what would you buy?

£1000 on a big item (spa break, jewellery, laptop if needed as above) then a treat each month for the rest of the year. £100 a month on a ticket/gig, nice meal or massage.
Just had a nice mini treatment and spa/pool day at local golf club through Groupon for £30 approx. I know Groupon or Vowcher isn't everyone's idea of a splurge.

This is a great idea. Regular treats!

I'd use £170 on a Persephone Books subscription. A new book every month for a year.

I'd also think about other monthly (or so) treats. What about taking a different family member or special friend to a meal.out and theatre each month, chosing things you would bith enjoy.

I love Persephone Books. I visited them a lot when they were on Lamb’s Conduit St in London.

I think I would have some time in Italy…some time in Siena, some in Florence.

I would plan to spend it on a holiday then every time I nearly book it, another band would announce a reunion tour and I would book tickets for that instead. Repeat until all the money is gone.

Whatwouldnanado · 27/02/2025 22:55

Is there something you’re interested in learning more about? Find a course, maybe something like TEFL that could help earn you money in future. And a special book.

wotsitallfor · 27/02/2025 22:58

I would get a Burberry Mac or a LV Neo bag. Waiting for a big bonus !

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 27/02/2025 23:09

Take your time in deciding. Nothing worse than looking back and not remembering what you spent it on.

Previousl, I've paid for a 5* hotel stay. Almost 8 years ago now but still remember it fondly.

Now I'd go with:

A timeless everyday handbag.

Good quality wellies.

A classic coat.

Enjoy whatever you spend it on OP.

A treat a month for as long as possible, including:

Sleep therapy
Hair spa
Noise therapy
Facial
Full body deep tissue massage
Bottle of Penghaligans
Lesson on a dressage school master
Escorted beach ride
I’ll think of more

Treat yourself to something lasting, like a lovely piece of jewellery, spend the rest on a little shopping to revamp your wardrobe. Maybe leave £300 in your purse just in case something else comes to mind that you need, women always need something lol

Unless those bowls contain the blood of day-old unicorn foals, you are being ripped off for what is basically an extremely breakable standing bell.

ODFOx · 28/02/2025 00:18

Better glasses.
A decent haircut.
A facial
Some skin products from whoever does the facial.
A 4 week early morning boot camp to get me exercising again.

Pomollo · 28/02/2025 00:48

Sort my varicose veins then get a stunning frock that revealed my legs for the first time like ever

mrssunshinexxx · 28/02/2025 01:26

Spa night away
I'd go to John Lewis and do the personal shopper experience and re vamp wardrobe

Invest in laser hair removal?

madaboutpurple · 28/02/2025 01:34

I would go on a few holidays.

TwinklyNight · 28/02/2025 02:05

I'd hire the local garden centre to do up my front garden.

NoForwardingAddress · 28/02/2025 07:14

Co2 laser and sculptra for my face.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 28/02/2025 07:33

Horse riding lessons weekly for as long as it lasted 🥰.

PermanentTemporary · 28/02/2025 07:40

Tickets on the Cornish Riviera sleeper train and another night there
Antique emerald ring
Membership of either the National Gallery or the Tate or the British Museum for free tickets to the big exhibitions all year
Good massage - not always the most expensive, ask around.

Don't forget to stick it in a high interest account while you're deciding - Chip instant access is good. Might as well make a few quid.

Ceramiq · 28/02/2025 08:12

£2k is a great budget for a fantastic coat, boots and bag to make you feel instantly smart.

Paddleboardsandironingboards · 28/02/2025 08:20

I'd have a special holiday - something to remember always. Go aurora chasing in northern Finland, stay in a chateau with a vineyard in France, a medieval Tuscan village, the Glacier Express, a Landmark Trust property, fly to Barra and land on the beach. I could go on...

Lucelady · 28/02/2025 08:22

I'd hire a chauffeur to drive me to my friend in London (we're both unwell atm). We'd have lunch at no55 in Aldwych and then I'd buy a Tom Ford lipstick collection. A new mulberry bag in a stand out colour might be nice (I've got classic safe colours). Or a return visit to Florence, it's fabulous.

Middlechild3 · 28/02/2025 08:44

For me right now a new laptop and either a surfboard or stand up paddle board. Endless return on the initial investment 🙂

BurglarAndSwag · 28/02/2025 08:44

I always think money seems much nicer when it is in CASH, so I suggest you convert it to cash and put it in, say, a shoebox. To ensure the money does not get damp, place the shoebox on a window sill with the window slightly ajar for ventilation. You can then sit down, close your eyes and relax.

(I think you forgot to put your postcode in the original post - you might want to edit that now. Thanks).
