Been gifted £2,000, with the only prerequisite being that it’s a treat for me (rather than the house etc). Please inspire me, what would you buy?

I would buy myself a lovely piece of antique jewellery

barbiegirls · 27/02/2025 21:27

I would get a weekend break somewhere warm with spa. And some wardrobe items that I wouldn't normally spend that much on.

Flicitytricity · 27/02/2025 21:29

My dad gifted me a similar amount a few months ago!
I got flights, with airport lounge access ( just to make me feel special), a 1 bedroom beach front bungalow in Lanzarote and some spending money for nice restaurants whilst I'm there.
Bliss.
Just me and no one else to consider - heaven😚

A pair of 'everyday' diamond earrings! I always have small studs in most days and I love the idea of swapping them for a nice diamond pair to wear on a daily basis.

A Cartier trinity ring, which I could pass down to my niece in later years.

I would put it in the bank and log in and look at it everyday, while filling endless online baskets with things I want so I can watch them go out of stock and I can delete them from the basket. Eventually I'll decide to splash out 200 quid on a nice lunch out with DH and a bottle of wine, then wander into the fancy bathroom boutique we pass on the way home and spend 1800 on a trendy new bathtub that I neither need nor have space for, meaning I'll need to convert the loft or build an extension.

Don't be a me. Buy the dress/coat/handbag/holiday/whatevers in your online baskets 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I’d buy some new Ultralight hiking gear. But that’s very personal.

Chickoletta · 27/02/2025 21:44

A painting or piece of jewellery for £500, a spa weekend for £300 and then the other £1200 for the ‘one mini treat per month idea.’

Enjoy it and thanks for a lovely positive thread.

I've recently spent a fair amount on getting some art prints and photos printed and framed. They all make me very happy. The rest I'd probably spend on experiences like theatre trips, music events or a holiday.

Merchant & Mills sewing retreat

Reframetheguilt · 27/02/2025 21:58

A holiday! You can join yoga, hiking or other retreats if you want a group trip.

Pinkdreams · 27/02/2025 21:59

Shopping spree

mumda · 27/02/2025 22:19

Some books. A new bookcase. And then some more books. Some chocolate. Some nice alcohol. Did I mention books?

TheChosenTwo · 27/02/2025 22:25

Always a holiday for me. My favourite thing is being hot and horizontal 😂

I would pay some of my visa fees so I could remain in the country with my family. /killjoy

Not a killjoy in the least. You win the thread.

I had mine done on the NHS about 10 years ago. Have you asked if it's possible?

As for 2k to treat myself...I can only dream!

Would be a holiday of some sort. Alone. Maybe a wellness retreat/detox

I've not asked because until the last five years or so I've been able to maintain convergence fairly easily. Age has caught up with me and I'm sick of having to choose between eye strain and double vision. It's on my list for my next optometrist visit in 18 months.

NameChange101xox · 27/02/2025 22:47

If I had two grand to spend on myself I would

get the Botox I’d been wanting
have a two night stay at a spa
get the most indulgent massage I could find
and keep the rest towards a holiday abroad

Lavender14 · 27/02/2025 22:51

I'd probably split it and spend half on things I want that I'll use but wouldn't afford to buy/replace otherwise (a stand mixer and a laptop). And then spend the other half on a solo spa weekend and a few nice bits for my wardrobe and a nice new underwear set properly fitted, maybe a nice perfume.
