Been gifted £2,000, with the only prerequisite being that it’s a treat for me (rather than the house etc). Please inspire me, what would you buy?

Holiday or enough books for a year

My instant thought is jewelry, antique art deco ring.

But then personal shopper day and buy a new wardrobe is tempting.

Inspired by someone up thread, a trip to Iceland with the family to see the Northern Lights.

I'd probably go with the last as I would feel guilty spending it all on myself and would have to share.

LaceApplique · 28/02/2025 12:25

A weekend away with DH or a pair of Louboutins 😂

SanctusInDistress · 28/02/2025 13:00

A few investment classic clothing pieces that will last me a lifetime.

SpringleDingle · 28/02/2025 13:04

I'd go on holiday with my DP and DD.... Yay, holiday!

TweedCoat · 28/02/2025 13:06

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. I had invisalign and tooth whitening treatment and I am so glad I did! I wear my teeth every day after all!

LSGXX · 28/02/2025 13:17

I'd get my rings re-set. They're in platinum and I wish I had yellow gold.

fireworks345 · 28/02/2025 13:18

I received similar amount last year and spent £1k on mentoring webinars and another £1k went on paying a stylist to compose a capsule wardrobe for me, plus clothes / shoes shopping to complete it.
Money best spent 💖

What a great thread, I've just spent my lunchtime clicking all your suggested links.
Definitely a great piece of jewellery for me.Also love the idea of smaller monthly treats for a year

ChristmasPudd1990 · 28/02/2025 13:34

Put it towards a long weekend in New York city or a Mullberry bag.

BunnyLake · 28/02/2025 13:43

There’s a second hand jewellers near me that sells the most beautiful rings. I would buy one if i had £2k to spend just on me.

Having just looked at their website I’d need ten times that amount 😭.

Back to the drawing board.

Bigcat25 · 28/02/2025 14:09

Jewelry from Coco and Chia.

£1000 on a big item (spa break, jewellery, laptop if needed as above) then a treat each month for the rest of the year. £100 a month on a ticket/gig, nice meal or massage.
Just had a nice mini treatment and spa/pool day at local golf club through Groupon for £30 approx. I know Groupon or Vowcher isn't everyone's idea of a splurge.

This is a really nice idea.

Bumblebeebumbl · 28/02/2025 14:37

What do you need?

holidays? Clothes? Self care like massages, facial, dental treatments, hair dresser, gym membership or sport clubs, etc

I will not spend it in a holiday as that would disappear too quickly. I don’t treat myself enough on clothing so will spend it on it. I treat myself on outings, holidays, and other self care things so will not spend it on it?

CharnwoodFire · 28/02/2025 14:48

In order:

Make sure I had no debt
Get teeth / glasses sorted
Family day out
And anything that's left over, I'd put towards car/laptop/phone etc

All luxurious which would make me feel good, but which cost a lot!

queenofarles · 28/02/2025 15:00

Enough to cover hydrafacial /mesotherapy/baby Botox / polynucleotide for a year or so.

mickandrorty · 28/02/2025 15:40

I'd spend a little bit on a monthly surprise sub pay a year upfront so I could have a little treat every month for a year!

Happilyobtuse · 28/02/2025 16:16

I would book a holiday and buy myself some clothes for said holiday! 😁 Though 2K wouldn’t be enough if I needed to take my DH and kids, but I would love a posh weekend away with my friends!

Dutchhouse14 · 28/02/2025 16:22

A beautiful piece of jewelry that I'd keep forever

Love the idea of a monthly treat to continue the enjoyment. Brilliant.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 28/02/2025 16:56

Ooh a shed for the allotment, greenhouse for the garden, subscriptions for monthly seeds!

MyLemonZebra · 28/02/2025 17:04

Probably doesn't make financial sense but I would immediately buy vouchers for things I like with it so I don't end up frittering it away on boring things like school trips (ParentPay), food shopping and other household stuff. So vouchers for your favorite restaurants, hotel vouchers, favorite clothes shops, theatre vouchers, spa vouchers etc. Then you know it's all there to spend on you only as and when you want! I have vouchers for air b&b, spa weekend and local take away in my purse and I love knowing that I can use them when I fancy a treat!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 28/02/2025 18:10

Id book a holiday....somewhere hot with a lovely beach and plenty of restaurants and bars.
