As part of my job I help new companies on startup.

I wrote to a graphic design company, explaining what a company did and asking them to design me a logo-I told them the company name and purpose and gave an example that I quite liked but added 'A little more professional looking, the writing 'gets lost' a little in this one'.

They agreed they'd come up with a few designs and I could choose one which they'd then format and send to me.

Today they've sent their proposed designs back. 6 altogether.

Every.Single.One has the company name and then 'Gets Lost' written underneath it.

In fairness in very prominent letters that certainly stand out.

The graphic designer I worked with on a project recently was hopeless. I would explain what we wanted and then said but not with these features. Every single design she sent back had the things I specifically said I didn’t want. It took a lot of coaxing and explaining. It was like she’d never done such a thing before.

Agree they probably fed your request into AI. Lazy!

Quite! If I wanted it designed by AI I'd have just used a bloody website and not paid anything!

It's a company that's model (partially) is providing low-cost therapy, too.

Can you imagine trying to get some therapy for yourself (or someone else) and thinking 'Hm that company sounds great, telling me to Get Lost'!

It might be partly because you had ‘Gets lost’ in quote marks - I might have assumed that meant you wanted it to be copied.

Maybe! I can't see how they couldn't concluded that still though! Especially knowing what the company did. Mind I can't think of a type of company that would do well with 'Gets Lost' written in their logo.

That's quite spectacular. I suppose they could say they followed the brief to the letter!

I did try to use AI once for a different company, a training company and the website came up with lots of logos containing images of trains! 😂

I don't think we have to worry about robots taking over just yet.

I'm hoping one of their employees sees this and shouts out to the office "you know that really weird request we had the other day where they wanted the logo to include "Get Lost" and we spent ages disucssing if that's what they meant... well, they didn't".

Oh my gosh, you HAVE to keep us updated with how this progresses! Did they just not think? Or not think to ask you if they had any doubts? Do you get charged for revisions?

It really doesn't seem that I have spoken to AI through email AND the initial contact and proposal was over the telephone! I accept it may have all gone robotic from there though!

This is very outing but never mind. My DP, a genetic scientist, commissioned a web designer for a science education site he was working on.

Throughout the site, where DP had requested the words "gene" and its variants were replaced with "Jean". Just why?! And who the fuck is Jean?!
