I take a blanket to the cinema 🤷‍♀️😂

This 68 year old kid absolutely loves to play on playground equipment. To the extent that I tried to source adult size swings and other equipment when I was doing some landscaping a couple years ago. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. Am I the only one who enjoys this? I also like to play with Legos and coloring books and crayons. I just built a Lego dragon last night. It's fabulous.

Squeezing, scratching and smelling sponges - prefer dry but wet ones are good too. Mmm.

My husband will not walk on the carpet with bare feet. He just can't, he says it makes him want to throw up.

When I lie on the sofa on my side, I always raise my arm straight up like im pointing at the ceiling, I can't even explain it, I know I'm weird, I just find it relaxing.

I do the arm thing sometimes, did it more when younger. It feels nice!

Me and my Dad used to do the stairs on all fours thing, I can't do it now, but for a long long time it was easier than any other way and I hated having to use stairs elsewhere, where I couldn't do it.

I 'same food' a lot... going through a very bad patch at the minute, I have eaten:

Protein works shake
Toast and marmite
Airfryer sauted potato (its baked potato, cubed, then in the air fryer with some seasoning on)
Quorn pieces/dippers

Every day (the toast is optional, sometimes I have a few southern fried dippers instead)... for the last month or possibly longer.

@StarDolphins
im similar to you although I talk to my car, pidgeons, squirrels
as we haven’t any actual pets

MrsMiniver1942 · 25/02/2025 15:39

I also say silly things to magpies. I know about the superstition but I'm not superstitious, but I think I do this because it's cute. No matter how many magpies there are. I say things like "Have a nice day Mr Magpie" etc. One day I said it to one solitary magpie and said "Have a good day with Mrs Magpie. Or Mr Magpie if you're in a gay marriage".

Love this! I always talk to Mr Squirry that lives in the woods opposite our house & when I leave nuts out, I shout ‘squirry, nuts are here’ 🤣

i sometimes when thinking/having conversations in my head ,count the letters in my head on my fingers, well by thinking of my fingers not moving them

I do exactly this. I need to make it even so will do it with the punctuation included if it's odd. I can't believe how many people do the same thing, I thought I was the sole weirdo. I remember the day I first started doing it (I had just started secondary school) and I think it's stress related.

Yes completely agree, it relaxes me I think.

the numbers or it being odd or even doesn’t bother me (I don’t think!).

My chocolate digestives live in the freezer because I like the snappy chocolate texture.

I put my kit kats in the freezer

Ilovelisting · 25/02/2025 15:45

I permit myself to eat my dinner in bed if I’ve had a bad day.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 25/02/2025 13:39

I also take a blanket to the cinema. A big fluffy one.

I 'trace' things all day long when I'm watching TV for example. I'll trace a person's eyes, nose, mouth. Sort of as if I'm imagining drawing them. It's not just people though it's furniture, the curtain rail and rings etc.

Autistic with OCD tendencies so I appreciate that that's a bit of a weird one.

I trace words, letters and numbers on anything, all day long! I trace round them and then mentally 'dot' inside the letters. I do it nonstop, used to try to stop myself but now I just go with it 😆

Chuchoter · 25/02/2025 15:47

Marmite or salted and roasted cashew nuts or both on a slice of pizza.

When I'm driving in an urban area I wave to random people with great enthusiasm whilst they look at me wondering who the hell is that but they still wave back!

My knickers and bra have to match and be part of a set. The only time I didn't wear a matching set was prior to 2009 when I used to my period.

Likewise I could never wear mismatched socks. My daughter as young teen went through a phase of deliberately wearing mismatched socks and I found it quite disturbing!

I will never use a dishwasher, I hate them with a passion! I always wash up by hand no matter how many have eaten.

TurbulentPriest · 25/02/2025 15:48

When I was a kid my mum organised a party game where the guests had to go round and spot odd things which she’d pre-arranged around our house (eg a digestive biscuit instead of a coaster, etc). To her embarrassment, quite a few things got listed which we thought were entirely normal 🤣

Bungalowknees · 25/02/2025 15:48

I sometimes say thank you to Alexa after receiving a reply to a question. My grandchildren think it’s comical when Alexa replies “you are as always very welcome”

Sometimes, when I’m on my own, if Alexa misunderstands what I’ve asked I tell her to fuck off. She indignantly replies “oh, I’m not quite sure how to respond to that remark! I’m a juvenile 70 year old and it makes me laugh every time 😆

Vanfan · 25/02/2025 15:48

@RainbowZebraWarrior I dont trace as such but i do outline shapes such as infinity /figure of eight with my index finger when reading. No problem with paper but a nightmare on a touchscreen . The times I've inadvertently changed screens or closed apps 😡

With how fking cold cinemas are these days, it's not weird anymore. I think the cheap fuckers refuse to put the heating on

Serve my Yorkshire puddings as a starter (which is, for my very Yorkshire family at least, the traditional way...)

My Nan used to serve suet pudding as a starter before a roast dinner.

I do have a TV, but absolutely refuse to ever have a TV in my living room.

we decided this after moving it out to decorate. Love not having it in the main room.

weegiemum · 25/02/2025 15:52

I like milk on hot puddings (like apple pie or rhubarb crumble). All my family does, but dh says we're all weirdos. Especially as I can't stand milk any other way at all!

I thank the smart speaker after asking it to do something.

This is totally understandable.
I am also polite to the AI.

I hope that when the robots take over & turn us into batteries, they will remember my politeness.

UnderHisEeyore · 25/02/2025 15:54

When I eat I divide everything up equally. I've never understood the eat the worst bits first people. Everything on the plate should be complimentary and taste good together. I eat very slowly and apparently chew more than most people 🤷‍♀️

TealAndTurquoise · 25/02/2025 16:04

I love vinegar on a fry up or a bacon sandwich. I feel it makes it less greasy and I love the taste. My sister and I are the only people I know who do it.

Lemonyyy · 25/02/2025 16:04

If I wiggle or scratch a digit on one side, I have to match it on the other or I feel wonky. I suspect this is in fact quite common but I’m posting it here to find my fellow lopsided mumsnetters!

I also never got over the childhood dislike of stepping on cracks on the pavement. If I do step on one out of necessity then I will have to find another one to even the other foot up 😂
