I've just watched this documentary and I feel so sad for that little girl and her family 😔

There are so many questions and why's like how on earth did the police miss her body when they searched the home, why was none of the family and friend's DNA taken. Why was the house not on lockdown considering it's a crime scene. I feel awful for the parents being blamed for it too. Detective Lou Smit found more evidence of an intruder than the boulder police did! Then you have that Peadophile guy who got in contact with them and admitted everything to that Michael guy through email and through the phones calls, how were these being ignored? It seems as though the boulder police force were extremely incompetent and so fixated on blaming the parents they missed a lot of credible evidence!

Do you think the parents aren’t responsible?

I thought that documentary was horribly biased in the parent’s favour, I don’t believe she was killed by an intruder.

TuesdaysAreBest · 15/02/2025 17:05

There is a previous lengthy thread about this.

PoltergeistsStartLowKey · 15/02/2025 17:09

Patsy wrote the ransom note. Several handwriting experts including those from the FBI have proven this. There were test pages in the house.

There is a host of evidence she was killed by accident but the parents chose to cover it up.

Boulder police held a prayer vigil in a crime scene. With that level of competence, it would never get 'solved'.

Joulesdog · 15/02/2025 17:33

100% it was the parents. That documentary is extremely biased in the parents favour.

SheRaaPrincessOfPower · 15/02/2025 17:36

I haven't seen it but think on the day the police were out of their depth. They didn't seem to know what to do and let people trample all over the crime scene and they seemed to be in awe of the family and their big fancy house.

LilyAnn13 · 15/02/2025 17:36

Her mum totally did it.

stanleypops66 · 15/02/2025 18:34

I've watched it having not previously known the story well. I don't believe it was an intruder. I think it was either someone in the household or someone very close to them. That poor little girl. I wonder if we'll ever find out the truth.

FanofLeaves · 15/02/2025 18:41

I think John did it and Patsy covered. In the intervening years I think he’s managed to convince himself that it was an intruder.

PerditionCatchMySoul · 15/02/2025 18:49

There’s a podcast which goes into much more detail, and after listening to that I thought it was the mother.

Wildblood · 15/02/2025 18:53

My take is that John Ramsey is getting old and he is funding lots of media to take the spotlight away from Burke. I think Burke did it and John and Patsy covered it up. John had already lost a daughter to a car accident and obviously he and Patsy didn't want their young son to be taken away as well. The ransom note is the most compelling evidence, there would be no reason for that to be written if they had just discovered Jonbenet missing, and it was more than likely written by Patsy.

MrWise · 15/02/2025 19:11

I concur with Kolar and Foreign Faction.

petermaddog · 15/02/2025 19:21

wildblood yes i lived .about 50 miles away and everyone said kid did it.pasty is weird one

Iamallowedtodisagreewithyou · 15/02/2025 19:26

It was the brother.

She nicked a bit of his pineapple and he got angry and chased and hit her with a heavy torch and killed her.

The parents covered it up because the dad had already lost one daughter aged 18 in a car crash. Now he's lost JonBenet and if he doesn't do something quick, he's gonna lose his son to a life sentence.

No pineapple had been served whilst they had dinner out. There was pineapple in that girls stomach when they examined her.

The parents didn't have time to move JonBenet. When they wrote the ransome note they did so to make the attention away from the house. What they weren't banking on is that the police never actually left their house from the time they made their fist visit. I think the Ramseys were going to move JonBenet after the police had come to make a statement but as I said, they never left the house.

The police fucked up the investigation and were incompetent.

The Ramseys were never suspected, or questioned or charged.

Dearg · 15/02/2025 19:27

I lived in the US at this time and have seen and read several theories. The most compelling or me was that the son did it, perhaps by accident, and parents did what they could to hide that.

I'd have probably done the same. 😓

NippyNinjaCrab · 15/02/2025 19:32

I watched this a while ago and watching that little girl with her make up and hair done up like an adult was horrible and creepy. I've not listened to any other podcasts or theories but I agree the documentary was pro parent.

TurtlesDoNotPetsMake · 15/02/2025 19:35

The family sexually assaulted her with a paint brush??? Don't buy it, sorry.
There was no DNA either incriminating the family either. No way did they do it.

fashionqueen0123 · 15/02/2025 19:38

I’ve read stuff about the pineapple and the brother too. Makes sense. How did he kill her without them knowing though? They were in the house weren’t they?

They did know he killed her. - by accident i'm sure - he just ran after her and whacked her hard on the head with that torch and that was it. It's so sad.

I don't believe this either and as you say there was no evidence of it.

The police fucked up this investigation and are embarressed to admit it.

As a pp said, the police were a bit in awe of the father and his wealth and fancy house.

FrannyScraps · 15/02/2025 19:43

Burke was 8 when she died, I dont think he could have killed her.

PixieandDelilahsmum · 15/02/2025 19:45

Unfortunately I don’t know where this is available to watch now but they solved it, I think. Accident by the brother: m.imdb.com/title/tt6087230/

He was 8. He wouldn’t have got a whole life sentence, even in the US.

No I don’t think he did it. He’s a handy scapegoat for his dad, though.

I've just looked and age of criminal responsibility is 10 in Colorado, he wouldn't have even been prosecuted.

I don't think he did it.
