Oh its beautiful its quite near me(ish) so wouldn't be too far a move. I'm definitely going to buy a ticket.

ShyMaryEllen · 13/02/2025 17:19

It's gorgeous, isn't it?

I wonder how far the nearest town is though. I don't drive, and I think it might be too remote. I'd love to win it though.

I know I say this every time, but what do people do with all that outdoor furniture when it rains? Do you have to drag it all indoors every time you finish using it? There is always so much going on outdoors in Omaze houses, and the practicalities escape me.

Thought one. A swimming pool. In Scotland. I wonder which three days of the year that'll get used.😂

Coffeeishot · 13/02/2025 17:23

I imagine they cover it up in the rain or just put it away, You could maybe rent it out then use it as a holiday home😀 I don't think the bus would run by I don't drive either I'd just need to get provisions.

4-8 of June 😀

Nearest town will be Pitlochry I think, Nearest city is Perth.

That's five days. Ever the optimist!!

Lovely house. But I know Rannoch pretty well and it can be very midgy!

wholettheturnipsburn · 13/02/2025 17:35

Near Aberfeldy which is a lovely town

Where's the pool? There's a tennis court (which I wouldn't use a lot, tbf) but I don't think there is a pool.

That would be a pain wouldn't it? It's bad enough dashing out to get washing in without having to cover up furniture every time it rains in Scotland.

Yes, I think I'd have to do as you suggest about renting it out. That's a pain as my plans for winning tend to involve selling my house and living off the proceeds.

Yes being hopeful ☺️.

Notonthestairs · 13/02/2025 17:52

No swimming pool.
Bedrooms quite a distance apart.

But what amazing countryside.

ShyMaryEllen · 13/02/2025 18:14

I'm happy with bedrooms not being close together, and I don't want a swimming pool to maintain.

I much prefer this to the Norfolk one.

I'm not Scottish and I've never been, but I took one look at that and said "midges". Plenty of Irish experience!

MiddleAgedDread · 13/02/2025 18:19

It's nice but it would have to be a holiday home, I couldn't live somewhere like that all the time. I'll use the £250k to upgrade my "city crash pad" and rent it out when I'm not holidaying or working from home there.

Have you lived in Scotland? That’s way too early. Maybe July. Grew up there - I know what summer is like but shorts on with 13°C

Florabella · 13/02/2025 18:37

I know the area well, and it's pretty isolated there. I also don't believe for a minute that it's worth £4m

Yes I live in Scotland I was joking although we usually have a nice few weeks just before the kids break up in June.

Do you live in Scotland? We are on the east coast where it is quite dry and would use an outdoor pool a lot.

I lived in the central belt for a few years. Whilst I’ll concede the weather isn’t always as dreich as is made out, I’d struggle to use the phrase “a lot” in terms of usage of an outdoor swimming pool.

The house is lovely but Rannoch is remote. It’s a total lifestyle to live that way - and one which involves a fully remote job or having enough money behind you that you don’t need one. When I left Scotland to return to London I looked into letting my house as an AirB&B, but getting reliable cleaners for turnover was a massive issue - so not necessarily even feasible to rely on an income from this house that way.

wipeywipe · 13/02/2025 18:49

Far too remote for me!

wipeywipe · 13/02/2025 18:50

@Snowmanscarf that Loch Tay one is amazing.
