Lighthearted - What’s the most (stereotypically) middle class thing you’ve done/said recently?

I’ve just re-waxed my Barbour jacket…

What about you?

I think they are slightly different but still good for the piggies

I could spend days just watching and listening to their crazy little faces chomping. Can't believe it's taken me nearly 50 years to really appreciate a small pet.

isthatmyage · 13/02/2025 23:05

A few years ago now, but a beach BBQ, me yelling to youngest DD "darling, your asparagus is ready".....what a tit 😂😂

CheshireSplat · 13/02/2025 23:08

DD1's school emailed today to let us know they're phasing out Latin.

(She's gutted and I'm a bit sad too!)

Oh that's not good, it's so useful re other romance languages, even if you're not into classics per se.

That's a shame. I loved learning Latin and it was a huge boon for French and Spanish too.

Got a jar of instant coffee in the back of the cupboard but it's only for workmen/women (decorator/ plumber etc)

I have this but it’s for parents on my side. Me and DH and his parents drink the good stuff but mine all want Nescafé red lid 😂

Bellyblueboy · 13/02/2025 23:18

I explained to my cat sitter than my cat likes marks and Spencer’s fish chunks - she won’t eat the Tesco version🫣.

My dad drinks instant decaf. My mum, sisters, DP and I try to ignore this abomination.

SecondClassmyass · 13/02/2025 23:19

asked my husband yesterday if we should give our new sculpture a name. Yes- her name is Sybil.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 13/02/2025 23:20

Booked an appointment for a meeting with our accountant.

Woke up this morning and listened to Radio 4 while I read the Times and the Telegraph, drinking freshly ground and brewed coffee from a 'bean to cup' machine.

Tatapie · 13/02/2025 23:25

Rented a house in Southwold for Latitude festival

I have aspirations of joining this thread. 😭
I gave my kid a french name.

Hedgesgalore · 13/02/2025 23:28

Messaged my aga man today asking him if he could take a look at my other aga.

Told dh he'd never guess how much waitrose is charging for dill mustard now.

NoisyBrain · 13/02/2025 14:25

Reminds me of the time I was in Waitrose and heard a man shout “Spatial awareness!” to his very young child who was pushing their trolley 😆

😂😂😂

girlwhowearsglasses · 13/02/2025 23:39

I once gouged a chunk out of the inside of my cheek with some particularly sharp toasted sourdough. Ouch

Ages ago the massive red top Nescafé was on offer so I got that. It’s finally run out and when I said I needed to replace it DH was most insistent that we definitely only needed a small one 😂

Our guinea pigs are called Quinoa and Harissa.

My grandson requested sushi for his birthday party last year (age 9).

Did it work?

Yep, acupuncture does work for the type of back problems my dog has, and a qualified vet delivers the treatment. I did a lot of research into affordable treatment alternatives because the only other option is surgery around 10k Aussie dollars. They just don’t make dogs like they used to

HumphreyCushionintheHouse · 14/02/2025 04:13

Took my daughter who volunteers at a local stables. She mucks out, feed and waters, in exchange for riding. It’s a middle class as we’re gonna get.

Temporaryname158 · 14/02/2025 04:48

@Mittens67 its not normal for everyone hence the point of the thread.

lots of people cannot in any way afford a horse (or dog) or to shop on Waitrose, even with the yellow stickers. Let alone to feed Waitrose food to an animal

Someone at work asked where I was grabbing lunch from today, and I answered ‘at my club’ before remembering that no-one at work knows I’m a member of a private library.

Never going to hear the end of this now.

Leeds?

Garlicworth · 14/02/2025 05:32

I really, really want some tapenade.

To make this even stranger, I said this to myself and it came out of nowhere - zero prompts of any kind.

Two days later, I was in the Co-Op and there, on a gondola end display, was a choice of tapenades. So I got some, obviously, and enjoyed middle-class snacks of grilled French bread with olive paste.
