I've never gone line-by-line before in my bank statement before

Just thought you'd all want a nosey 👀

Food: £337.15 (mid week top-ups)

Coffees/cafes: £181.30

Lunches and dinners out: £242.43

DC: £4,550 (this includes school fees broken down to a monthly number, lunches, weekends with DC like Harry Potter world as an example, kids activities like gymnastics etc, paid for by term but broken down to the month)

Beauty: £1301.20 (waxing, Botox, hair colour, etc)

Shopping: £216.39 (new ballet slippers for DC etc)

Misc. £545.27 (things I had no idea what they were on the line item)

Private dental work: £981.63

DH pays rent, bills, running the cars/petrol, insurances, date nights, nights out, holidays, savings, weekly "big shop" and everything else.

Agreed
but the op would have mentioned she owned a property in home country if she did.

As I said, it doesn’t matter whether she owns a property in her own country. She’s still going to have to pay a shit load of stamp duty here to buy a half decent place in London. Not worth it if they are not intending to settle here.

whatawonderfultime · 13/02/2025 13:50

Mine is similar to yours but I spend more on food, less on beauty, and nothing on kids (don't have any) or dentist work.

The food costs OP has posted are just the midweek top up shops - apparently her DH funds the weekly big shop.

It doesn’t matter to you

to the rest of us…. Intriguing to be spending like this and not own a property

How much botox did you get?! 😀

Face is completely immobile.

Cringing for you 🤣

Backing Up Homer Simpson GIF

Me too. And I don't think the OP liked what I said further back. 😬

Baffled, because I only said the same sort of thing that loads of other posters said.

Backs away slowly.........

Which isn’t bad for mid week top ups if you do them at marks as I do… I come out with one bag having spent >£50!

Those snack choices will get ya in M&S! 😭 I can never just pick ‘one’ flavour/option.

It’s the berries!! My children and I mainline them…. £12 a day on berries I reckon!

Ok everyone I get it now.

Apparently the wrong forum to post these kind of things but many posters said they enjoy watching similar on TikTok etc so different social media platforms for different things!

MN used to be different. I loved having a nosey of what people got up to.

Really? 🙄 You’ve spent £8355.37 in 1 month! Most people don’t have that to waste in a full 12 months! Honestly, ffs, read the room and go boast elsewhere.

TorroFerney · 13/02/2025 16:21

Ladyluckinred · 13/02/2025 12:21

OP, how much do you earn? If you’re going to transparently share how much you spend, perhaps add in your salary too.

she’s said watch me spend my salary so assume if you add the entries up that is what she earns.

GiantRoadPuzzle · 13/02/2025 16:22

I don’t think our 20k+ on holidays that we spent in January is going to go down well then 😬

Yalta · 13/02/2025 16:27

You spend nearly £2500 on stuff. A lot of which is most likely not needed or is to mop up the damage you are doing to yourself

That much coffee and eating out isn’t exactly enhancing your skin, which is why you spend money repairing the damage

Factor 50, and no alcohol will give better results in the long run

Maybe therapy to find out what is lacking in your life that means you have to spend £2500 per month on stuff to fill the void

Maybe look at how much your job is costing you each month just to turn up and get you through the day.

Only people I have seen spend like this have been those who are deeply unhappy

coldcallerbaiter · 13/02/2025 13:31

Nonsense, it’s being spent in the economy. How much money is too much?

Said no one who has had to struggle for money, ever.

ruethewhirl · 13/02/2025 16:46

JHound · 13/02/2025 11:05

There is a lot of hostility and toxicity in some of these posts? Is that how much the existence of people with money annoys people?

The existence of people with money isn't annoying to me. OP boasting about these levels of extravagance is striking a bum note with many of us because there is a cost of living crisis on, amongst other things. For some of us OP is coming across as tone deaf. It's not toxic or hostile to voice that perspective.

For “some of us”

for others it is not

No, and I'm also not a SAHM which I see a lot of on here.

What's wrong with being a mother at home rearing her own DC? You seem to think it's a bit off. Most women have two jobs if they also go out to work.
You don't seem to have noticed that we are not interested in how you spend your money, either.

Grammarnut · 13/02/2025 16:53

You don't have to live in London. I was brought up there but you could not pay me to live there now. Most of us live in nice places elsewhere.

Momtotwokids · 13/02/2025 16:53

I find people on this site like everyone to be poor or struggling like them.

Yalta · 13/02/2025 16:59

You said “like Therapie” Is that just an example of the place you go to get Botox or the actual place.
If it is the actual place then that might go someway to explaining why you spend so much on Botox and your hair.

However unless your dh is earning multiple times your salary then I think he isn’t going to be able to save as much as you need to buy a place that matches your lifestyle

Like others have said you need to save as much as you can when you can

ATM it will feel like the gravy train will go on forever. I can guarantee it doesn’t.

Companies, even large multinationals can go under or your dh or you find yourself without a job because of a shake up in the company structure or someone doesn’t like your face or the sound of your voice or you end up divorcing and your dh hides any money or investments he has made and you end up with 1/2 the savings in one account

Nothing in life is guaranteed to stay the same. The most you can do is put away as much money as you can, when you can so you have something to fall back on if everything goes tits up.
