The comments on the renting... the UK is not our home. We are not citizens here and are planning at some point to move abroad again.

That still doesn't make sense. Buying a house is an investment. And you don't save!

user1499128287 · 13/02/2025 14:34

Why would any of us care? Seriously, this is a tasteless brag post that is unnecessary and ridiculous, not to mention unkind for the many on here who might be struggling to even pay their rent or feed their kids. Tactless and vulgar, whoever you are.

easylemonsqueezy · 13/02/2025 14:35

Cringing for you 🤣

Ok everyone I get it now.

Apparently the wrong forum to post these kind of things but many posters said they enjoy watching similar on TikTok etc so different social media platforms for different things!

MN used to be different. I loved having a nosey of what people got up to.

We are now deep in recession and many don't appreciate lists of spending that include £500 on stuff so unimportant it's been forgotten. MN is full of wealthy people but most do not use it as a boasting forum.
And no need to say the UK is not your permanent home. Bragging about (or even discussing) income is deeply, deeply un-British.

Dont be so ridiculous. OP is fortunate enough to be able to enjoy her high income so what is wrong with that?

Oh don’t be daft

It was silly of the op because she didn’t include her income, doesn’t own a property and doesn’t save. So if it was a stealth post it was a fail.

but to basically say no one can talk about money unless you’re on the bones of your ass is just daft.

So you never go on a holiday thread?

Ladyluckinred · 13/02/2025 14:38

indigovapour · 13/02/2025 14:29

I thought it was interesting. Don't be put off by the perpetually offended - it'll often be anger that motivates people to reply to a post like this one because you're not asking a question or anything for other (more reasonable) posters to engage with.

For what it's worth I also work in Finance and have lots of spare time.

Do you also have a take home pay of 8k a month?

EmmaEmEmz · 13/02/2025 14:39

Spottyshirt · 13/02/2025 14:30

Well you don’t mention it

Try reading again because she does, in her opening post.

'DH pays rent, bills, running the cars/petrol, insurances, date nights, nights out, holidays, *savings, weekly "big shop" and everything else.'

indigovapour · 13/02/2025 14:39

@Spottyshirt read the room ffs - not everyone can afford a holiday so it would be the height of vulgarity to discuss them on MN. Deeply, deeply un-British!

indigovapour · 13/02/2025 14:40

@Ladyluckinred no, it's about £11k. Sorry if that upsets you.

yes posters that say “read the room” make me chuckle. As though all of us are on the bones of our arses

Don’t be daft. Not at all. Are you quite low on the ladder like OP? As we’re not getting any answers, it would be interesting for you to clarify what type of role in finance pays 8-11k a month.

indigovapour · 13/02/2025 14:45

@Ladyluckinred I am CFO of a non-bank lender. In the grand scheme of "finance" I probably am quite low on the ladder but I've learned that I prefer working in a smaller organisation even if it means my pay won't reach the heights it might elsewhere.

FriendlyEeyore · 13/02/2025 14:48

Are you his pet?

IWFH · 13/02/2025 14:49

So over 8k take home a month, but much more coming in from DH anyway.
An odd rather boastful thread. No idea whether it's true or not of course, but I'm curious about your motivation for posting this OP?

Funnywonder · 13/02/2025 14:50

Ivory Towers is that-a-way⬆️
You can use Jeff Bezos' parking space. He's out delivering my Amazon package. 2 more stops.

ABunchOfBadBitches · 13/02/2025 14:51

Why would you set yourself up like this OP?😅

bifurCAT · 13/02/2025 14:52

I'd imagine most men would prefer to spend money on a few confidence-boosting therapy sessions over regular botox any day!

A less-stretched confident person is infinitely more attractive then a stretched one with fluctuating confidence.

(That's just my view)

I'm very wealthy. I wouldn't been seen dead writing a post like this, it is tacky and lets be honest who actually gives a fuck.

Yes but you are the highest in your organisation, not the bottom of it. Thank you for answering anyway, I’m still not sold on OP.

dandelionandbirdcock · 13/02/2025 14:57

Cracking up at the responses on this thread. 'Deeply, deeply un-British' is actually now my fave Mumsnet quote of all time. I think it's the most Mumsnet thing anyone's ever written. 😂

MzHz · 13/02/2025 15:05

you don’t like what you spend? Spend less.

not envious btw, I have way more, and I don’t care about what you spend but bleating on here in some kind of stealth boast is equally pointless as your spending.

GreenFingersHelp · 13/02/2025 15:06

There's a strong streak on MN of "If I can't afford it you shouldn't discuss it." Envy is an ugly thing. People should learn to just scroll on if they don't have anything constructive to say.

How odd to assume the posts are all about envy.

I'm here because of incredulity, wondering why anyone would want to share this especially with the opener 'Watch me'
