was there actually a point to your post other than a not so humble brag? oh to be rich!

Thisismetooaswell · 13/02/2025 11:22

Botox is only once every 3-4 months, I started by getting just 3 areas and if you find a good high street injector like Therapie then you're looking at £300ish maybe for the lot. On a monthly basis, that's not crazy.

On ANY basis, that's crazy

GreenFingersHelp · 13/02/2025 11:22

I know someone who works in finance for one of the top investment banks and there is no way they could be frittering away their day on Mumsnet.
They have to be in the office almost every day and often work a 12 hour day.

I think this post would make more sense on Instagram or Tik Tok

Without pictures we can’t fully appreciate how fabulous OP is and why we should be jealous of her

kellygoeswest · 13/02/2025 11:23

the £4,550 on your DC is verging on double my monthly salary :') but I'm probably just jealous... finances have been hard lately and I've been struggling to keep up with everything living alone, let alone have money other for fun (beauty treatments, etc!).

Pennyplant19 · 13/02/2025 11:24

Tone deaf gloaty post. Read the room OP.

I dunno, I've come across some real workshy folks in that sector tbh

MoodySky · 13/02/2025 09:03

  1. Why on earth did you want to post this?
  2. Read the room.

To boast, obviously. Look at all the utter shit I can afford to waste money on. 🥱

I2amonlyhereforTheBeer · 13/02/2025 11:31

Ladyluckinred · 13/02/2025 10:38

We also have to consider that this is the internet and what OP has listed may not be true 🤔. Perhaps she’s bored 🥱

... or drunk?

babyproblems · 13/02/2025 11:33

I think your beauty and coffee spend is insane!! And you rent. If this is your entire earnings, we have similar and save around 2k a month.. 600 into pensions and 1400 into cash savings. We also already have a mortgage which is small, and a second small mortgage on a rental property. But we have no school fees and only one DC. You could definitely save more.

CienAnosDeSoledad · 13/02/2025 11:33

27Maisie27 · 13/02/2025 09:53

Definitely bragging, but Christ knows why. It's like a kid in the school playground claiming their dad is bigger than other dads.

makes me realise that I am rich in other ways - having a fulfilling, although not high paying, career, being married to a man who still gives me butterflies, and being lucky enough to have four healthy children who bring me joy every single day.

Nah, you can keep your 4 kids and all, I'd rather the money and high flying job, ta.

Good for you, OP. You earn a good wage and enjoy it, nothing wrong with that whatsoever. You studied, got the job, you're earning it and can spend it however you want.

And don't listen to that condescending bullshit about charity. It's always very easy to spend someone else's and/or imaginary money on charity. As for the real money, yours, you don't have to, if you don't want to, it's fine.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 13/02/2025 11:33

JHound · 13/02/2025 11:21

Bragging or sharing?

I actually like seeing what other people spend in a month. Significantly more or less. It’s interesting.

People share all kinds of things here that bring them joy in life but money is where we draw the line? Why?

Because that is where the line is drawn. Most people wouldn't divulge their financial position to you as much as you might be interested in it, because it's crass.

Those that have don't talk about it, they don't need to. Wise words told to me long ago.

Blisteringlycold · 13/02/2025 11:33

This just makes you look foolish OP... I say that as someone in finance too.

stayathomer · 13/02/2025 11:35

I remember thinking it was weird when someone asked before for a section for wealthy earners but I think it might be a good idea as I’d say most of us planned on commiserating on how a very normal amount was spent within a month.

ChangingColour · 13/02/2025 11:41

Coffees and lunches…nice. I might tootle around the kitchen and make a boiled egg and tomato sandwich .🥪
(work from home, in the North, on poor wages)

Holdonforsummer · 13/02/2025 11:43

I hope you look like Heidi Klum based on your monthly beauty fees

Wordau · 13/02/2025 11:45

Wow your "misc" spending is more than my entire disposable income!

But weirdly I'm not jealous. We have enough, and more money seems to mean you just buy more shit you don't need. Which is bad for the planet. If I ate or drank coffee out that much I'd be fat as fuck.

(Wouldn't mind Botox tho)

Hwi · 13/02/2025 11:46

Is it a flex?

Ladyluckinred · 13/02/2025 11:47

JHound · 13/02/2025 11:20

I am not talking about the people questioning the veracity.

But those who seem incensed at those who earn and spend more.

There are many lifestyles posted here I envy (nothing to do with money) but I don’t get bitter and toxic about it.

(Also to be clear there are so many different roles in Finance. Not everybody is a high earner nor doing long hours). It’s not clear if this is OPs earnings or what she spends.

Edited

What on earth do you expect? There’s absolutely no substance to the OPs post, it’s natural to question the point of it. It’s on the internet, unless people are threatening the OP, posters are entitled to respond with anything they wish.

Oh come on. Yes, there are various roles within finance, but 8k, after tax? Ops already said she’s one of the lowest earners in the company. What do you mean “it’s not clear if this is OP’s earnings or what she spends”? She’s titled the thread ‘watch me spend my January salary’. Could not be clearer.

Tiredmamaofthree · 13/02/2025 11:54

Good on you op. We can't all earn the same wage and live the same way. At the end of the day as long as she is happy and pays her taxes (which I'm pretty sure she does 40%), why must the rest of the us be jealous or complain.

Georgyporky · 13/02/2025 11:54

£1300 on beauty ?

Makes me wonder what OP looks like if she needs to spend that much to look OK.

WhiteLily1 · 13/02/2025 11:55

As posters said above. English people think it’s incredibly vulgar to brag about money. It’s literally the epitome of trashiness. If you’re real OP (you’re not) then all the money in the world can’t buy you a modicum of class.

I don’t get the toxicity and hostility because somebody happens to earn / spend more.

And talks about.

I have not seen OP say what she earns though - just what she spends. She implied in another post that she is nowhere near a high earner for her field.

RosesAndHellebores · 13/02/2025 11:58

Personally I think the brag is outweighed by the stupidity of the spending.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 13/02/2025 11:59

Goady bollox 🙄
