Do you have Chinese takeaways that are also a chip shop in your area?

And if so (approximately) where are you?

I didn’t know that they existed until now.

I’m in Glasgow and they don’t exist here or if they do then they aren’t common. Chip shops are mostly run by Italian families.

The takeaways do sell chips but usually only as a side dish and I can’t imagine many people choosing to order them alone over chips from a chip shop.

I’m curious to know in which areas Chinese chip shops are common.

TIA

I feel a bit "Sheldon Cooper" but I don't like food places that do multiple types of food and advertise fish and chips as one of them, because I have found the chips are always takeaway chips not "proper" chip shop chips and the wrong type of chip bothers me more than it should. 🤣

Chinese take away/chippy over the road from me does 'proper' chippy chips

I'm in West Lancs and very common round here.

Very much the norm in Manchester. I think any Chinese run chippy will be both surely?

We did have, but it closed down a few months ago. (S/W Yorks boundary)

30+ years ago I lived almost next door to one in South Wales.

I think I thought Chinese Chippies were a widespread thing.

My grandparents were in Liverpool, and I still remember the chips from their local Chinese chipper as the best I've ever had. That was nearly 50 years ago and I can almost taste them now. I recently checked google maps and they're still there...I'll have to visit one day lol.

Steve's?

We have one, north highlands, I’ve tried it once but like others I find the combo tends to be a bit rubbish for both sides of the menu vs ones that just do Chinese or just do chippy.

Steve's?

It's called New Yungs, on the corner of Stanley Road and Orwell Road. It looks exactly the same as I remember.

Yes I'm in Somerset and most of them in our town are also chip shops

I was coming on to say it doesn’t seem to be a thing where I live in Somerset!

However, when I lived in the north west, it was very much a thing.

Yes, central Scotland
