Personally I say no, even though I voted to leave, at least I can look back and say this was a mistake
if the vote was to happen now I would vote remain

my reasons for voting at the time was because, I wanted this country to be the captain of its own country and not to have to follow whatever another country told us too
basically Independence

also we were also lied to that, this would really improve the NHS which was clearly aload of shit looking back

I can at least own my mistake saying voted leave but, I now I think it was the wrong choice

I also think the media are a lot to blame, by making out no way will people vote to leave
And that only racists will vote leave

the whole country was in shock the next morning when the results came out

Maybe so but I remember being very grateful and relieved at the time to get the covid vaccine early as was working in a pop up school at the time nearly everything else was shut.

It had absolutely no impact at all. It's a complete falsehood to say we got the COVID vaccine early because we weren't in the EU we could have done exactly the same and had the vaccine at exactly the same time if we had still been in the EU

Im honestly fine with it.

Why's that? What positives have resulted from Brexit?

I don't believe that

Warm fuzzy feeling about Union Jacks, spitfires, warm ale in a country pub with no foreigners about, that kind of thing😊

RichPetunia · 10/02/2025 20:02

Yes

QuestionableMouse · 10/02/2025 20:03

Voted no, still think no

Jellykat · 10/02/2025 20:04

Nope, but then i voted Remain

Thank you OP for acknowledging that you feel you made a mistake. Most of the 52% still seem in denial.

Agreed. Good for you.

AgnesX · 10/02/2025 20:08

No, because bugger all's changed apart from the cost of things increasing.

Bobbybobbins · 10/02/2025 20:14

Voted remain and would vote the same again

Ddakji · 10/02/2025 20:18

It was utterly brainless to put something as complex as membership of the EU to a simplistic yes/no vote. No one has any idea what was meant by “leaving the EU”, there were 100 different permutations it could have been.

Judellie · 10/02/2025 20:20

Well, at the time, I went looking to see what the EU had funded in the north east. Next to nothing; eventually found something about part funding the pedestrian tunnel under the Tyne.
Now, Newcastle Central Station is emblazoned with plaques about how this and that were done with funding from the EU.
It might have been a better idea to put those there at the time, not sure if Cameron etc even noticed or cared that not everywhere got as much as London and their arrogance is the reason Leave won.

Iamallowedtodisagreewithyou · 10/02/2025 20:22

I bitterly regret voting to leave BUT, we were lied to.

But Brexit means Brexit, eh…Hmm

user2848502016 · 10/02/2025 20:27

Definitely not, I voted remain at the time and still feel sad and angry about the whole thing

Fabulastic · 10/02/2025 20:31

Still no

You can have your own opinions, but I'm afraid you don't get to have your own facts...

Wherehavetheyallgone · 10/02/2025 20:37

A lot of people didn’t seem to understand basic maths and/or were easily led.

For the most part Britain had a great deal in the EU - it took very little research to see that. Very sad to hear that people like the OP based such a huge decision on a vague feeling of wanting 'independence' - we were at the core of the EU with great influence and negotiating powers.

The impact on our children's futures and opportunities, whether they want to work here or in Europe is huge.

Your link is dated July 2020 - many months before the vaccines were developed or rolled out so not relevant to the discussion.

Brexit was the most idiotic thing we have done to our country

Xenophobic, thick, small minded, insular

UK Covid deaths among worst of big European economies

Death rates since March 2020 are up by 3% in France, 5% in the UK and 17% in the US.

Much better;

The UK's vaccine rollout is regarded as a "global exemplar", says Prof Devi Sridhar of University of Edinburgh.

That is not just number of doses, it was also getting them to the people most at risk.

And the UK looked better than any major European economy bar Spain in that second year - with death rates below historical averages.

The reasons the UK fared badly for covid deaths are very complex. I believe they would have been even higher had we not been able to get the vaccination programme going as soon as we did.

However, we obviously aren't going to agree and are slightly derailing the thread which is primarily about was leaving the EU a mistake? Which I think it was, overall.
