Decaf tea?

CalicoPusscat · 08/02/2025 09:19

I found out quite violently that I cannot take caffeine for now.

Luckily I like herbal tea and water but sometimes I do just want a cup of tea.

I had a browse around earlier and could only spot decaf Twinings earl grey and decaf Yorkshire tea.

Any recommendations?

I drink clipper decaf earl grey which is available on Amazon

Decaf tea is dreadful. If you must, I'd get Twinings decaf breakfast tea but it's still not great. Early grey is a bit better, I find.

Tetley Decaf is good, or Clipper.

Yorkshire Tea is the only one I like. Sometimes DP forgets and will make me a cup of the caffeine version, I can't stand the taste of caffeine tea anymore.

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf!

Can I go rogue & suggest bird & blend tea, few stores dotted around or online. Best teas ever & loads of decaf varieties

I'd have red bush (tick tock brand) instead.

Red Bush has some of the same qualities as caffeine as I discovered to my cost - have been caffeine free for 30 years.
Twinings have changed something about their decaffeinated teas such that the taste is now vile, especially the Earl Grey which I used to love.
Most of the other brands are ok. It’s trial and error really to find one you like. I don’t have milk either so I really do notice the taste of the tea.

Waitrose Essentials Decaf tea is the only one that tastes like tea to me and it's incredibly cheap at £1.75 for 80 bags!

Rooibos tea is lovely. Bird and Blend do a huge selection of flavours.

Ringtons

I only got around to getting some this morning after a metaphorical clip around the ear from GP - I went for Yorkshire tea as I'm povvo.

It's fine, just tastes like weak tea! But at least it tastes like tea 🫖
