Decaf tea?

CalicoPusscat · 08/02/2025 09:19

I found out quite violently that I cannot take caffeine for now.

Luckily I like herbal tea and water but sometimes I do just want a cup of tea.

I had a browse around earlier and could only spot decaf Twinings earl grey and decaf Yorkshire tea.

Any recommendations?

Lyon’s Decaf is lovely.

What happened you with the caffeine??

Toddlerteaplease · 08/02/2025 11:30

I just buy supermarket brand tea. I can't tell the difference

Kaminari · 08/02/2025 11:34

100% Twinings English Breakfast decaf. Tastes like a proper brew. I can only drink decaf and it took me a really long time to find a decent tea - lots of nice decaf coffees though.

Decaf Yorkshire. Can’t tell the difference between that and the one with caffeine.

I drink PG tips decaf in the evening and normal PG tips during the day - I can't taste any difference between the two.

Were you trying to cut out caffeine?

Yes @CalicoPusscat , I've been successful as well- 7 months and counting 🥰

HanSB · 08/02/2025 12:00

Some decaf teas have a fishy taste, we had this with Yorkshire, M&S and Twinings. Have settled on Thompsons

BourbonsAreOverated · 08/02/2025 12:00

decaf has wildly improved over the last 10/15 years.
I just drink supermarket brand. Sainsburys is my 1st choice, but I buy from wherever I am when I need some.

I had a headache for about a week or two. So pick up some paracetamol as well!!

Nannyfannybanny · 08/02/2025 16:56

Kaminari,(sorry to hijack post!) where do you find lots of nice decaf coffees?

Franklefoot · 08/02/2025 17:33

Do you have a Ringtons van in the area? They do a great decaf tea, nice and smooth and tastes like proper tea! You can also get it online.

blackbadger · 08/02/2025 18:05

Co op own brand, or Sainsbury's own brand (I think they're the same supplier) are the only ones I like. Yorkshire tea decaf is awful I think

BlondeFool · 08/02/2025 18:08

I've tried them all as I can't have caffeine. Yorkshire decaf is the best.

ChipsnGraveee · 08/02/2025 18:09

I drink Aldi’s and it’s fine

Strokethefurrywall · 08/02/2025 18:09

Decaf Yorkshire is the only one I drink, decaf PG tips taste like piss to me.

BlondeFool · 08/02/2025 18:10

I used to drink Aldi own brand but it tastes fishy to me now.

Jmaho · 08/02/2025 18:14

I started drinking decaf tea in my 1st pregnancy 15 years ago and stuck with it as I can't tell any difference.
I don't particularly like my tea strong and buy any supermarket own brand. Usually Tesco, Aldi or Sainsburys. I'm not sure why I have stuck to decaf as only drink at most two cups of tea a day but copious amounts of none decaf coffee!

Puttingoutfireswithgasoline · 08/02/2025 18:14

Yorkshire decaf. Tastes like real tea!

JasmineAllen · 08/02/2025 18:15

I've tried lots and IMO decaf Yorkshire is the absolute best. Nice and strong tasting 🙂

dumpydumpydumpdump · 08/02/2025 18:22

I like Yorkshire

shuffleofftobuffalo · 08/02/2025 18:22

I've also tried them all, best are Yorkshire and M&S. Clipper makes a cup of watery decaffeinated disappointment every time.

iamsoshocked · 08/02/2025 18:27

another vote for clipper decaf here. I prefer the idea of not putting plastics in my cuppa. I agree with leaving it to brew for a little bit longer though.

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 08/02/2025 18:30

I've tried so many. Yorkshire decaf tea only one that gives a decent brew, but I like it strong. Tetley and pg tips were awful.

Lovelysummerdays · 08/02/2025 18:34

Decaf Yorkshire tea is my tipple of choice when cutting down caffiene. It’s worth noting it’s not caffiene free.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/02/2025 18:38

Turmerictolly · 08/02/2025 09:20

Decaf PG tips. Tastes no different to normal tea to me.

Same.

CarpetKnees · 08/02/2025 19:09

Yorkshire de-caff is the bees knees.
Highly recommend
