Do you ever WFH in bed?

I have an office job. All I need is my laptop. Yes a big screen helps, but my job is mostly excel and then some word and PowerPoint.

Someday (especially when I have anxiety) I like working in bed and feeling all cosy.

Does anyone else do this?

Yep 🤣

CassandraWebb · 07/02/2025 21:04

Yes, I have a day bed in my study. With lots of pillows and a lap tray thing so I can work from there.
I have a health condition that means sometimes I have to as I can struggle to sit upright in a chair.

I still work just as hard.

StormingNorman · 07/02/2025 21:04

Yep

Noshadealltea · 07/02/2025 21:04

I literally did this for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. Now I lay on my beanbag chair in my office instead 🤣

teenmaw · 07/02/2025 21:04

I have done it a few times but wouldn't want to get into the habit of it. Seems like the beginning of a downward spiral. I think occasionally if you feel shit then yeah, why not!?

RIPVPROG · 07/02/2025 21:05

Yep with the electric mattress topper on, it's lovely. I only get one or two WFH days a month though

TwatOnAHotTinRoof · 07/02/2025 21:06

I did this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I was ill with an awful virus and couldn't get warm. I wasn't up to working really but I managed a few hours from bed for a few days.

Pleaseletmegohome · 07/02/2025 21:06

No. I need the separation of work and home so always work in my spare room. Have to get properly dressed and put my face on too.

JimHalpertsWife · 07/02/2025 21:07

If I'm feeling under the weather, then yes. I get really cold when I'm feeling a bit poorly, so bed, fluffy socks, hot water bottle and laptop.

Probably done it once or twice a year since covid.

SlugsWon · 07/02/2025 21:07

My husband does, he has a chronic health condition. Working from bed for some of the week allows him to work, so that's what he does. It's fine, what matters is getting the work done surely!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 07/02/2025 21:07

Yes sometimes. I find the keyboard angle on my bent legs perfect 😂

ShatnersWoodwind · 07/02/2025 21:07

Unfortunately these days hunching over a laptop in bed would totally screw up my neck and back. Need to have my special chair and adjustable height monitors!

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 07/02/2025 21:07

Oh my god never! I feel like I am missing out. I am one of these people who think if I am even working in PJs I won't work hard and will get behind. I also have to have 2 screens due to work and all meetings and phone calls are on camera. If I have a planned quiet day when I am doing replying to emails I might try it (I bet I won't though)

DollopOfFun · 07/02/2025 21:08

Yes. Well not the full day, but an occasional lazy morning,

My husband gets up and leaves earlier than me, so every now and then I'll ask him to bring up my laptop and headset with my cup of tea, and I'll snuggle with the dogs whilst I check emails and doze back off

Tarantella6 · 07/02/2025 21:08

Nononono work needs to stay out of the bedroom. I don't even like WFH but absolutely not in bed. Otherwise how can you switch off again at the end of the day?

toastofthetown · 07/02/2025 21:08

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and have done this a few times. Generally I prefer being at my desk because I miss my screens but on afternoons where I just can’t get comfortable otherwise, being in bed with the electric blanket switched on is just what I need.

tillyandmilly · 07/02/2025 21:08

I am WFH in the bedroom as no separate room to work but have a proper desk and chair plus the bed is made!

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 07/02/2025 21:08

*doing admin or replying to emails

kiraric · 07/02/2025 21:09

Only if I am ill

Otherwise I find I need to be at a proper workstation or it kills my back

ohfourfoxache · 07/02/2025 21:10

I've just spent the last 2 weeks working from the sofa (phased return)

My position has sort of "matched" the speed of my brain

Looking forward to getting back to a double screen and a proper office chair, but I don't feel fast enough yet

Crushed23 · 07/02/2025 21:10

Never.

I usually only WFH one day a week (Friday) and while I admit to sometimes doing very little and to getting errands out of the way instead of working, I genuinely never work in bed. I think I would just fall asleep!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 07/02/2025 21:10

No, I need to be at my desk to be in work mode.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 07/02/2025 21:10

Yes. Started during Covid as it was the only room with a door and there is no furniture except the bed.

LlynTegid · 07/02/2025 21:11

Technically as I am on an on call rota, if I am called at night. Rare thankfully.

Spocyfriedchi · 07/02/2025 21:13

I don't take calls in bed though. I feel that it would look bad. But the work in bed stuff helps especially during the times I was having so much anxiety i was finding it difficult to get up
