Spaghetti Bolognese...how do you serve yours?

Are you a stir the meat sauce and pasta together so the bits of meat kind of stick to the pasta and serve

Or a dollop of meat sauce in top of a pile of pasta ?

Whoops. Forgot to say. I mix mine in the plate up/put in serving dish.. to save money/use less actual meat. Otherwise the kids will take huge serving spoon fills of meat sauce and I'll need 2-3 times as much.

I put a dollop on top and then mix it in!

wendywoopywoo222 · 03/02/2025 19:20

Dollop on top

TheChosenTwo · 03/02/2025 19:21

Half mixed in and a dollop on the top.

DerekFaker · 03/02/2025 19:25

Dollop on top.

Ilovemyshed · 03/02/2025 19:28

Mix in, and don't use spaghetti, I use a flatter pasta with ragu.

OutrageousImmoral · 03/02/2025 19:28

Mixed! I just tried to add a photo of my dinner but I can’t?

scrivette · 03/02/2025 19:31

Dollop - then people can leave/mix as per their own preference.

On top. Ton of cheese and garlic bread!

catin8oots · 03/02/2025 19:35

We do the dollop. I know you're supposed to 'put the pasta in the sauce, not the sauce on the pasta' but I don't care I like the dollop method

Chewbecca · 03/02/2025 19:36

Dollop but I do prefer with penne Vs spaghetti. And more inclined to mix it up with penne. Spag is a faff to mix!

Caspianberg · 03/02/2025 19:39

Mix.
Means it’s all equally covered

Narwhalsh · 03/02/2025 19:51

Depends on the mood I can play it either way but it’s always served with cheese on top. I would also recommend bulking out a meat sauce with lentils!

Same. The pasta is much nicer if it’s mixed through with sauce, but I like the “dollop on top” effect too, and it doesn’t quite look like enough sauce if I don’t put a bit extra on the top. Probably v British of me! I don’t do that for other pasta dishes 😄 must be the 1980s pasta memories.

Agree that if you leave it in the middle giant multi portion amounts get eaten and no matter how much you’ve cooked there will be no leftovers so beware that!

myotherusernamesarebetter · 03/02/2025 19:52

Dollop. Didn’t know people mixed it - surely that’s up to the individual to do?!

weatherissweetenough · 03/02/2025 19:53

Mixed in, as it's supposed to be...

I think it's mixed in traditionally.

I've only ever seen a dollop approach in UK.

Pasta is meant to be all mixed in, my OH wont hear of it and says what do the Italians know!!

Bit like my mum used to serve a 70s chilli con carne with a ring of rice and the sauce in the middle. Great stuff

WhoDatNow · 03/02/2025 20:01

It's 40 years of disagreement here - i mix in when serving, he dollops when serving. The dog prefers his version where she just gets leftover pasta and it's not washed to remove any onion or chilli from the sauce

calmandcaffeinated · 03/02/2025 20:06

Made this for dinner. Dollop on top with grated cheese for the adults, mixed in with LOADS of cheese for my DS5

nocoolnamesleft · 03/02/2025 20:09

I dollop on top. That way if I've accidentally given someone a bit too much pasta, it's only pasta wasted, not pasta and nice sauce both waster.
