For me I would take:

Claudia Winkleman.
Romesh Ranganathan.
Sir Greyson Perry.
Andy Murray.
Marian Keyes.
Floella Benjamin.

I was with you until Andy Murray! Glowering mute with nothing to talk about but his boring serve statistics? No, sports people are usually deathly dull and have never learned to drink.

I would take your top three and add in Daisy May Cooper, Queen Camilla and Bob Mortimer.

Oh my goodness what blasphemy!
Andy is absolutely brilliant!

@Screamingabdabz 😂 I was waiting for someone to come and lambast poor Andy, you were quicker than I thought!

I do ♥️ Bob but would love it if he brought Paul and Ted too.

Definitely Queen Camilla, even though she'd probably drink us all under the table.

I saw an interview with Carol Decker and thought she’d be a good person to have a few jars with.

Rylan Clark. His public persona is tan, teeth and tight trousers, but his personal conduct and sense of fun suggest he is a thoroughly decent Bloke to join on a night out.

Arlanymor · 02/02/2025 18:50

Definitely Grayson Perry - am toying with buying tickets to see him in Cardiff… also Bob Mortimer as people have suggested.

Will add to the mix:

Ruth Jones
Cyndi Lauper
Snoop Dogg
Greg Davies

Yes I agree with you on Lucy Worsley - the few times she’s been in a pub on TV she’s had a pint!

DJrocks · 02/02/2025 18:54

I agree with Andy Murray. I’ve met him a couple of times. He’s a hoot. Very dry sense of humour.

I would also add in David Attenborough, Guy Martin, Dame Judi Dench and this time last year Maggie Smith.

SnuffleTruffleHound · 02/02/2025 18:54

Bob Mortimer, Reece Sheersmith, Matt Berry (this already happens if you read autobiogs) with an added Steve Pemberton

or

john entwistle & Keith moon plus other random 60’s “stars”

I don't know why people insist on describing him as dull! I think he's humorous and self-deprecating!

Martin Kemp. He wouldn't even need to talk, just let me gaze at him 😉

J K Rowling so I can say thank you and buy her a drink
Claudia and Jojo
Ricky Gervais

I always think “she’d be a laugh at the pub” when I see Jo Brand on telly.
