Been signed off work for 6 weeks post surgery and need some recommendations. I really like gripping dramas and also black comedy.

Things I’ve really enjoyed:

⁃	Day of the Jackall
⁃	Happy Valley
⁃	The end of the f*ing world
⁃	A very English Scandal
⁃	The Crown
⁃	Last Tango in Halifax
⁃	Black Doves

Any suggestions??

Silent Witness form the beginning (iplayer)
Prime Suspect

The Jamie Dornan one is “The Tourist” very good
Baby Reindeer is dark but very good

if you ever need some light relief after a heavy show, I’d recommend
Colin from accounts (Australian humour)
Fisk (ditto)
Atypical
Trying
Shrinking
Emily in Paris
all great for light hearted humour

@TeaMistress hey there.....what channel is Scandal on pray tell ? Just had a quick scan of Netflix (but I have US Netflix) and iPlayer (have a vpn) to no avail....thanks if you can help !

It's on Disney and 4.

There's an app called JustWatch that'll tell you where you can stream things. I use it a lot.

Thanks @FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee (I feel the same) I have Disney too so will look it up.
I also enjoyed State of Happiness (Lykkeland) on iPlayer. Set in 70's Norway when their oil boom began. Quite a ride ! And an eye opener. (My older brother had one of those big moustaches sported by some of the Americans in it !)

Shetland was good , as was Colin from Accounts ( Aussie , funny - 1st series, not so keen on series 2)
I quite enjoyed Bump ( Also Aussie, funny/ gentle drama - 1st series better)

Dappy777 · 06/02/2025 16:01

Toast of London is brilliant.

I'd also recommend This Country, I Claudius, Brideshead Revisited, and The Day Today

I quite liked Series 2. It was a bit different so I can see why sone people wouldn't like it though Wink

Magpie Murders was great.
Lighthearted whodunnits with the glorious Lesley Manville at the helm.

Currently watching the second season, Moonflower Murders. Just as good and LM's wardrobe is gorgeous.

Line of Duty
The Cormoran Strike series
Life on Mars

The previous eps of cormorant strike are great but the current series is slow moving, boring and baffling.
