How am I going to cope with Trump?

His stupid voice and the stupid things he says makes me want to barf and his stupid orange face and bum hole mouth make me want to ram biros in my eyes.

He’s going to be all over the news for the next four years. 😱

OP posts:

We wouldn't have coped without him.

Hopefully the UK will follow suit and get this left wing car crash gone.

The only comfort I can take at the moment is that, one day, he and Putin and Musk et al will be dead

How many they are going to kill off before their respective demises is unclear

Nice! I can’t stand Starmer, Khan etc but I don’t wish them dead. Ahh the tolerant left, eh?

Pretty sure neither of those 2 ever sexually assaulted anyone

ohfourfoxache · 21/01/2025 17:28

Nice assumption there @BlueberryPieface ....who said I was a leftie? Confused

OolongTeaDrinker · 21/01/2025 17:31

Why would you keep hearing his voice if you are in the UK? I'm not sure the last time I heard Biden's voice so why would it be different with the new president? I think you will be fine OP, unless you spent his last presidency in a nunnery or something - if so do that again, if not use whatever coping strategies you did last time..

Like pardoning the creator of covid before he has even been charged?

Yeah the good old rule of law.

Oh well, that’s alright then. Let’s just have a big old race to the bottom 🙄 I’d say Trump’s won that by country mile in his first 24 hours.

the80sweregreat · 21/01/2025 17:32

I do think that the media interest will die off in the next few weeks and hopefully concentrate more on UK news and our own problems. I hope so anyway

Cornishclio · 21/01/2025 17:32

I don't live in US so hopefully we will cope fine unless he destabilises the world (not ruling it out) I won't be watching his speeches or reading about his activities so he doesn't exist as far as I am concerned. The world is a big place so I can easily avoid the US.

nahthatsnotforme · 21/01/2025 17:36

I feel the same watching Starmer. Makes my skin crawl and find him pretty pathetic.

Just don't watch.

I for one am ecstatic at all the positive changes happening in my homeland.

Perhaps you should take the opportunity to switch gears and start caring more about the personal rather than the political. At the end of the day, you live in Europe (sorta) and it doesn’t affect you personally.

He wasn’t a convicted felon and he didn’t pardon 1500 other felons on his first day of office last time. Nor did he have the world’s richest man buttressing him. Trump 2.0 is a hugely different animal.

He really is. Much more statesman like. He's a man on a mission. A lot of his mission was done once before by Reagan if you research.

He's a real Debbie downer isn't he. Caught a bit of his statement this morning. Very robotic.

MagpiePi · 21/01/2025 16:11

FWIW, I have a similar reaction to Jim Carey.
There are just some people that irrationally make me cringe, but actors aren’t in charge of one of the largest and most influential countries in the world.

Edited

I get this. Trump just repulses me on a physical level for some reason. It's nothing to do with his politics or anything (although I have my opinions on those) because when I was a kid, he used to occasionally pop up on WWF Wrestling, and I had the same reaction then. Revulsion and cringe!

This. Plus a few others. You’ve got to limit if you need to

SoapySponge · 21/01/2025 17:54

He's only the POTUS. They're like buses. There's another one along in a minute.

Berlinlover · 21/01/2025 15:18

That’s a bit dramatic 🙄

Honestly, It would sound dramatic to me too, once upon a time but the man is truly awful, and hai family! His side kick is seriously messed up billionaire with fascist views and not even hiding it.

purplecorkheart · 21/01/2025 15:25

Haha did you have to mention about the bum hole mouth. That had never crossed my mind before but now that is all I will see!

We call it his 'blow job mouth' here 🤭 It's infuriating to watch him talk through his 'O' lips 🤯

itsywitsy · 21/01/2025 18:06

Goldenbear · 21/01/2025 17:16

He's 78 years old, is that not Grandpa age, I'm on my mid 40s and he's older than my parents and despite being physically fit and sharp they still couldn't be president!

it was meant as a tongue in cheek joke - Biden should not have been in office for so long and he was clearly too old.

BooToYouHalloween · 21/01/2025 18:07

JacquiDaytona · 21/01/2025 15:34

For me, selfishly, it’s the impact it’s already having on the U.K. and Europe. God knows the world needs change but the only people taking advantage of that right now is those who are out for themselves and won’t live long enough to see the destruction it will cause for future generations.

With donations from billionaires being discussed and the spread of hate and misinformation, we’re fucked. It’s the normalisation of hate and division (and the return of the ‘r-word!!!) that I can see creeping into the school where I work.

The gradual (or not so gradual) removal of rights, and the incredibly dangerous combination of a man who has nothing to lose, is out for personal revenge, and has all the tools to destroy whatever he wants. In 2016, we hadn’t been through covid, social media was a different world and the world was much more stable.

Surely you can see why this is a very different scenario this time round?! On a positive note, it’s made me feel very aware of how important my community is and making the effort with friends, family and neighbours. It’s made me not want to touch Amazon or Insta with a barge pole and I really hope there are others who will feel the same.

errr he’s been President for 1 day and nothing has changed in the UK? Literally no idea what you’re wanging on about.

Soonenough · 21/01/2025 15:17

I feel the same . But then I think he will probably start WW111 so it won't matter as we will all be gone.

Holy shit!

Mooey89 · 21/01/2025 18:11

I’m really struggling and feeling really anxious about it all. I can’t believe people aren’t more angry.
Im coping by focussing on Melania and how much she hates him.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/01/2025 18:13

My strategy, as last time, is to avoid watching anything with him in it.

Sadly, DH thinks he's hilarious and loves, LOVES watching American podcasts about people who focus a lot on Trump.

It's going to be a long 4 years!

CouchSpud · 21/01/2025 18:15

AllFurCoatAndFrillyKnickers · 21/01/2025 16:46

Trump is the oldest US president to be sworn in ever.
He's not the only grandad.
What will his health be like in 4 years time at the end of his term?

Hopefully he’ll be dead before then:

the80sweregreat · 21/01/2025 18:15

I completely understand the worry, but there isn't anything anyone can do realistically.
Millions voted for this , they seem to think it'll pan out alright.
He was in for four years before and didn't start WW3.
It is what it is.
