What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

Rich Tea, apart from the ones covered on one side with chocolate. Don't know if you can still get them, M&S used to do them

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/01/2025 13:42

I agree with all the Lincoln haters. At least rich tea has a bit of a crunch. Lincoln are just soft cardboard.

MargaretThursday · 18/01/2025 13:43

Love Rich Tea

I'd get rid of hobnobs

I love Garibaldis! But I hardly ever buy them because I’d scoff the lot before the day was out.

Plain digestives are to me the most boring.

ChishiyaBat · 18/01/2025 13:43

I never met a biscuit I didn't like. I love a nice rich tea, especially when I have a migraine.

Notimeforaname · 18/01/2025 13:43

Oh a love a rich tea or 15 with a cuppa..

JaneIves · 18/01/2025 13:43

Rich tea on their own, horrible.
Smothered in Nutella, better! Ditto to malted milk.
Custard creams/bourbons et al taste like a summons to your nans on a Sunday afternoon.
I love a fig roll, once you've done 4 of them you may as well eat the lot.

Surely the king of biscuits is a ginger nut?

ellenhighwater · 18/01/2025 13:43

I thought Nice biscuit as soon as I saw the title of the thread!

GameOfJones · 18/01/2025 13:44

I think rich tea biscuits have their place and that is when someone has had a stomach bug and can't tolerate anything with flavour but needs to eat something. That is the only time we buy them so I associate them with the children being ill 🤣.

A lemon puff is the absolute worst biscuit. I would eat a dry cracker over one of those any day.

DustyLee123 · 18/01/2025 13:44

Rich Tea. Although I’d have that over no biscuit.

NoGwenItsABoxingDayTrifle · 18/01/2025 13:45

Fig rolls 🤮

TheoreticalVacuum · 18/01/2025 13:45

Haven't read the whole thread but I agree that Oreos are horrid.

Controversial view here but in the bin for me would go Hob Nobs. An oaty no no.

Does anyone remember the sad (more sad) little brother of the Rich Tea? It was called Morning Coffee. From what I recall, it was an oblong with rounded corners, like a doily, thinner than the Rich Tea but basically the same thing.

I love a Morning Coffee! And a Rich Tea.

I don't hate Oreos but they are so overrated. It's basically a sub-par bourbon with the false glamour of "being American" laid over the top. The birthday cake-flavoured Oreos are nice, but I'd never bother buying any. I'm also a bit over Biscoff, though one in a little sleeve that comes free with a coffee is still nice.

Top tier: Jules Destrooper Butter Crisps, which are incredible (I got a tin for Christmas). Also not strictly a biscuit, but is in the same ecological niche: a Tunnocks Teacake, perfection.

Wild card: not a taste sensation, but it's not a party without Party Rings.

Pink wafers - too sweet and crumble into pink dust when you bite them

I used hate those strange, brown German biscuits that they give you free with coffee in Germany and taste like burnt sugar - but they have strangely grown on me.

Surely I'm the one you want in the room? You get to eat my hobnobs, and I'll eat your rich teas? We should be best buddies 😁

😃 You make a fair point.

gmgnts · 18/01/2025 13:46

Oreos or ginger nuts (don't like ginger) are horrible. I just had a rich tea biscuit this morning at a friend's house. I dunked it in my tea and it was very nice indeed!

Knittedfairies2 · 18/01/2025 13:46

Fig rolls, Nice biscuits, and those awful pink wafers are pretty grim, as are Jammie Dodgers. This post has reminded me that I've not seen a Lincoln biscuit for years - and I didn't care for those either.

Snooks1971 · 18/01/2025 13:47

I also don’t understand how and why those Biscoff Lotus biscuits seem to be taking over the world. Pointless little things, insisting on being individually wrapped as if they sooooo special.

HollyKnight · 18/01/2025 13:47

Any own-brand version of a plain biscuit. They all taste like sadness.

taybert · 18/01/2025 13:47

These. Too sweet for cheese, too savoury for tea.

What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?
Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 18/01/2025 13:47

Biscuits with a cow on

LadyLucksalot · 18/01/2025 13:48

Wagon Wheels are an abomination.

Oreos have no place in my house.

Rich Teas are tolerable in an emergency.

Abernethy biscuits are delicious.

Biscuit tins should have more of those foil-wrapped chocolatey treasures and fewer jammy dodgers.

Not light-hearted.

MikeRafone · 18/01/2025 13:48

Hobnob is my worst biscuit, I find it rough and sharp texture which is unpleasant

followed by Oreo
I can’t taste anything?

love a simple digestive or borbon

noblegiraffe · 18/01/2025 13:49

What the hell are those? Small toasts?

Bourbons. It's just fake chocolate. They're just brown. Not even really having a flavour. And a sneaky penguin that's just a chocolate covered bourbon is naughty for deceiving us.

I also hate custard creams, and dark chocolate digestives are evil.

I love Rich tea. I eat a pack of those a week. Six biscuits per cup of tea. I even quite like them plain. But most people think they're really boring. I used to think that but now I'm a convert. 😀
