Which celebs have you met in daily life?

I just met actor Irene Marot, who played Ron Dixon’s wife DD in Brookside, when she asked me for directions on a London street corner. Happy to report that she is absolutely delightful IRL. (I told her she looked familiar and she seemed surprised and chuffed that I had recognised her.)

So, which “celebrities” (A-list or otherwise) have you met by chance in a “civilian” or daily life context. And what were they like?

Laughing at the Christopher Biggins anecdotes as I met him and had a similar experience to PPs. It was a posh work dinner on a cruise ship and he was very loud and pompous and seemed to think it was the Christopher Biggins show, which it was not (as in, he'd been invited along in the same capacity as all the other guests and not as any sort of special guest).

I met Jarvis Cocker who I have adored since the mid 90s and he did not disappoint. He was surrounded by cool (at the time) Shoreditch types but he separated himself from the group to give me the time of day and made me feel appreciated as a fan.

Met Charlie Dimmock at another work do (fundraising charity auction and black tie dinner and dance) and she bid thousands for an all-inclusive Caribbean holiday which she then announced on stage that she was giving to my husband and me because she enjoyed our mad moves on the dance floor (we were utterly hammered 😂) and said that she wanted to give the holiday to the 'most romantic couple in the room!' So I will always love Charlie for my free holiday to Antigua.

Just totally outed myself to anyone who know me in RL cause most of them know the Dimmock story 😂

@CollaterlieSistersSister So pleased to read that about Siobhan as I adore her as an actor!

I have a huge crush on him

Same. He has lovely hands by the way 💕

MrsRedTop · 15/01/2025 22:26

I spoke with JJ Chalmers last year - nice man.

speckledfroglet · 15/01/2025 22:27

Florence (and the Machine) a few years ago on a train from London to Doncaster if you can believe it ! They were playing a gig there that evening. Didn’t speak with her because I was in complete shock but she was very polite thanking me as I waited to let them off.

ThePoshUns · 15/01/2025 22:28

Rik Mayall turned up at my regular nightclub after he'd done a gig.
Just slipped in and quietly say in a corner. I clicked him and went over to say hello, he was lovely.

pompey38 · 15/01/2025 22:28

Mariah Carey - very demanding but nice enough
Xzibit- the best
Brooke Shields- lovely
Kirsty Gallacher - very arrogant unpleasant person

Artesia · 15/01/2025 22:29

Graham Norton on various occasions- rude as.

Ed Sheeran- totally lovely. Really polite and thoughtful

Unbeknownst Parked outside patsy palmer (Bianca from eastenders) house when she lived over here, arrived back from hospital appointment, she said hi to us etc. very nice. My Nan also met her in a card shop years ago, had a convo with her, said she was lovely.

david guest bumped into me in London about 20 years ago, very apologetic and then started asking me what I thought of a building he was interested in.

christopher Ellison (burnside from the bill) is a very nice guy, served him a few times at work where he’d ask how you were etc, didn’t expect star treatment. One time I moved out of his way whilst at a bus stop, so he could get past a load of students and he thanked me profusely.

pete Bennett, winner of big brother 7, absolutely love him, talks to everyone really, came into my work and treats everyone with respect. Seen him in the street a few times, says hello to whoever.

my dad went to school with rhino from the original gladiators. Said he’s a top guy. Actually they are still friends on Facebook.

im yet to meet a rude celebrity. I personally don’t like to bother them whilst out with family’s so tend to not speak to the, unless they talk to me first.

Siriusmuggle · 15/01/2025 22:39

My mum met David a Attenborough recently. She said he was lovely and very humble.

Lifelover16 · 15/01/2025 20:13

A few footballers - all very pleasant and personable.

David Jason who was absolutely vile and utterly rude to my two young daughters.

Yes. Doesn’t surprise me. He likes boys.

My experiences have been through working in pubs and meeting them as a customer or in a hospital as patient or relative rather than bothering people out and about.

Oh and how could I forget, I met Prince in Heaven nightclub on a Monday night when it was Land of Oz. Mid 90s, we were at the same bar (Heaven has a few) he bought me a drink but I was too star struck to say much 🤦🏻‍♀️

OMG you win. Was he sexy as?

GooseMoose2 · 15/01/2025 22:56

🤮🤮🤮

mondaytosunday · 15/01/2025 23:05

Met Richard Harris who also asked me for directions. He was in town doing a play. A girl came up and started pestering him 'I know you, you're someone famous aren't you, who are you' while I was trying to explain. He told her to be quiet and was fine - just like anyone asking for directions.
Oddly enough my mother sat next to him in the theatre and both being Irish they had a nice chat. But he left during the intermission (play was mediocre).

Meredithwho · 15/01/2025 23:23

The best day of my work life was when Hugh Grant appeared! He was really lovely.

Meredithwho · 15/01/2025 23:27

Oh also Rory Bremner. He was nice enough but I didn’t recognise him and he seemed utterly desperate to make sure we all knew who he was. He was doing impressions at lunch and said ‘oh yes and when this lady approached me and said hey Mr Bremner can you…’ in the way where you only name drop yourself to make sure people know who you are!

No, Scottish and unlikely to be well known

no longer Mrs footballer. I was shocked and stunned when that divorce went through 🤨

Good, I like Abi on their podcast.

ilovepixie · 16/01/2025 00:48

Rodney from Fools and horses in a pub in Chelsea. He was sitting by himself looking miserable!

Lived in London at the Household Calvary Army barracks as a child and Princess Anne came into the stables we were in to look at the horses and told us to naff off!

Literally ran into the Queen Mum at the barracks and nearly knocked her over. She just laughed at us.

Robert Davi in Harrods at the ice cream bar. He chatted away to us for ages.

Served James Nesbitt a few times, he was just like a normal customer.

ilovepixie · 16/01/2025 00:52

As a teenager in the 80's was in a pub in Knightsbridge with my family. I was a massive culture club fan and saw Jon Moss. My sister who was about 8 went over to him and says my sister loves you. He looked over and smiled at me! ❤️❤️

Oh also met the Green Cross Code Man , also Darth Vader at primary school and Brian Cant on sponsored walk!

I won a cycling proficiency competition at primary school and the green cross code man gave me my prize which was an autograph book!

coxesorangepippin · 16/01/2025 00:59

Saw the Rooney's at Manchester airport. They seemed very nice, Coleen was extremely organised and boys were all behaved

Seen lots of Corrie starts, Fizz etc

Saw Beckham at the Trafford centre

coxesorangepippin · 16/01/2025 01:00

Also, Deborah Mitford at Chatsworth, but before Chatsworth went so commercial

She was feeding chickens

MrsAvocet · 16/01/2025 01:08

Dame Sarah Storey brought her children to an event I was running. She was lovely and the kids were also very nice and polite.
I've met quite a few other professional sports people too and they've mostly been friendly.

DiscoBeat · 16/01/2025 01:09

I met Mike Reid (Frank Butcher) years ago in his dressing room while I was at the same venue. I was only about 18 and he must have been pushing 50. He was coming on to me, talking about my legs. I didn't feel comfortable!
