Which celebs have you met in daily life?

I just met actor Irene Marot, who played Ron Dixon’s wife DD in Brookside, when she asked me for directions on a London street corner. Happy to report that she is absolutely delightful IRL. (I told her she looked familiar and she seemed surprised and chuffed that I had recognised her.)

So, which “celebrities” (A-list or otherwise) have you met by chance in a “civilian” or daily life context. And what were they like?

OP posts:

Also met Martin Johnson (rugby player) couldn't remember his name so just went good luck, you!! 🤣🤣

CalliopePlantain · 15/01/2025 21:13

Richard Hammond is ALWAYS in the local Morrisons when I go in there - I think he’s stalking me 😂

when I lived in London, was sat next Benedict cumberbatch on the tube (there was an empty seat between us)

Michael McIntyre, filling up his car at the pump across from me.

Jessie Wallace in a play park in Wanstead- my ds was having a tantrum and she gave me a sympathetic look and a smile.

Perry Fenwick - I worked with his half sister and met him at her wedding. Such a lovely man

OnlyMothersInTheBuilding · 15/01/2025 21:13

All years ago when I moved in different circles:
Harry Styles in a shop his One Direction days - seemed lovely but I felt sorry for him, he couldn't move for people wanting photos
I served Rhys Ifans in cafe once - standoffish, didn't want to chat (fair enough I suppose)
Guy Garvey - lovely
Jon Moss from Culture Club - lovely
Will Self - exactly as he is on TV, superior and cold

Menapausemum1974 · 15/01/2025 21:14

Had lunch with the Queen and Prince Phillip at an event oh and went to school with the Milky Bar kid! 🤣

Slothmonkey · 15/01/2025 21:15

George Clooney - he asked me to sit down next to him because I looked like I would probably fall down otherwise.
Brad Pitt
Russell Brand
I also washed up with Natalie Portman - nicest lady!

Ex hotel housekeeping for v v posh hotel in Berkshire.

Also only Scots posters will understand but many of the take the high road cast when I was small. My papa worked for stv.

Mrs mack sent my mum a real fur pink teddy bear when I was born.

Also met Glen Michael many times.

8-year old me is very jealous you've met Glen Michael! Did he have Paladin with him?

Apollobinds · 15/01/2025 21:18

Nadine Dorries - rude and entitled. Even said ‘don’t you know who am I?’ 😂

Ribenaberry12 · 15/01/2025 21:19

Passed Anna Friel in the street. DH completely fangirled and thanked her for being utterly wonderful. Rhys Ifans was behind catching her up and shot him a dirty look. 😂

I used to go clubbing with Dean Gaffney. 😂😂😂

He did indeed. I also had my birthday read out every year on his show as did my uncle.

He came to my primary as well. Don't know if that was a planned tour or if my papa pulled strings.

Debbie McGee and the late Paul Daniels (when he was alive obvs), lovely lovely couple.

John Henry Newman in Stevenage? Yes, that fits with what I've heard about him. Long after my time. It was St Angela's then.

That's the one. Nasty pricks the lot of them.

GooseMoose2 · 15/01/2025 21:23

Russell Brand - very tall, dressed how you always see him, black skinny jeans and heavy boots. Very bad vibes, caught him looking at me with icy cold contempt 😈

DeerWatch · 15/01/2025 21:24

Andrew Lloyd Webber in queue at train station many years ago.
Duchess of York, very nice and chatty.
Trevor McDonald, he had lunch with us in the school I worked in. Very friendly.
Neil Oliver helped my then 3 year old daughter up the steps off of a Cornwall beach where he was filming the series Coast.

blackandwhitefur · 15/01/2025 21:24

Is that Morrisons in R-o-W?

The ones I can think of are:

Carol Vorderman - friendly and polite.

Lizzie Caplan (actress in Mean Girls) - quite moody but people are allowed to be imperfect.

Steve-O from Jackass - can't really remember but think he just seemed very American.

Jimmy Carr sitting having dinner alone beside us in a restaurant. Incredibly unpleasant + hostile man - very rude towards staff. Despite it being quite a fancy restaurant he had a takeaway Starbucks coffee with him and sipped on it throughout his meal. Money can’t buy class!

I always thought he seemed a rotter!

Not surprised with Holly, disappointed with Jo Frost !

One2threego · 15/01/2025 21:26

Oh and Rhys Ifans…looking very dishevelled. His mum lives in the town and he’s often visiting her!

Cece92 · 15/01/2025 21:27

GooseMoose2 · 15/01/2025 19:58

Peter Andre and his wife Emily - both v kind and polite.

Kate Garraway - bitchy towards me.

Ken Livingstone - very rude ! Nearly knocked me over on the street as he was walking quickly in the opposite direction. He had on this massive trench coat on which was flying behind him and it hit me.

We were staying at a hotel in the summer for a family wedding and my mum popped back to change. Peter Andre was there and she was like oh can I get a picture. He said he was a bit busy but could do it later and she was like oh no I'm going back to a wedding. So he was like okay then. Then she realised she left her phone in her room and he came with her to the room to get the phone lol obviously he waited outside 😂 xxxx

That’s hilarious, would have loved it if he’d gone in 🤣

Maddy70 · 15/01/2025 21:29

Used to work in the music industry. The nice ones were Robbie Williams, black stone cherry, libertines, iron maiden, sham 69, busted, rick Astley,

CalliopePlantain · 15/01/2025 21:31

@HelloIsItMeYoureCookingFor yes!

LunaNorth · 15/01/2025 21:33

Steve Coogan nearly ran me over on his push bike near the British Library last week.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 15/01/2025 21:34

Noddy Holder. Genuinely lovely man but very difficult to remain polite towards between November and January when I'd heard him telling me "it's Christmassss" a million times from the Christmas hits cd we'd have playing on repeat.
