The comedian Tony Slattery who was a series regular on "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" in the UK has passed away from a heart attack. He was 65.

I read an interview he gave in the past few years and thought that he was on the way back to performing but god love him, he had a terrible time with drink and drugs.

May he rest in peace.

Aww that is a shame. Not old either. May he RIP.

I was wondering what had happened to him a couple of weeks ago, as I caught up on classic Coronation Street.

He was around a lot when I was younger, so a really familiar face.

WhoPutTheBomp · 14/01/2025 14:27

I hope he is at peace now.

tobee · 14/01/2025 14:27

This is very sad.

He was a really lovely and very intelligent man. I had a long conversation with him once and he was a delight.

Very troubled by his mental health issues.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/01/2025 14:28

There was a documentary about him, he had serious mental health issues. RIP.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/01/2025 14:29

Oh that is so sad. I know he was a troubled soul at times. I hope he RIP now.

destiel00 · 14/01/2025 14:30

Very sad news.
I had a huge crush on him in the 80s/90s
His documentary was really sad and moving. He was SA by a priest as a child.
May he RIP

WhatTheKey · 14/01/2025 14:30

How sad. He was very funny. And was dashing in Peter's Friends.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 14/01/2025 14:30

We still talk about 'Tony Slattery Syndrome ' whenever a actor/personality turns up in everything, he had a bad case of it for a while.

Younger than I thought, RIP.

nestingvillage · 14/01/2025 14:38

How sad. He was a talent and I had a huge crush on him when I was younger.

I found the documentary really affecting.

So sad to hear

longtompot · 14/01/2025 14:42

Such sad news. Loved him On Whose Line Is It Anyway and remember when he started to self destruct, not realising he was struggling mentally. I'm glad he had happiness with his long term partner and hope he is resting in peace.

JanuaryCrow · 14/01/2025 14:43

He was troubled, talented and brilliant. I have happy memories of his TV appearances from years gone by.

MaryGreenhill · 14/01/2025 14:44

May he rest in peace , sincere condolences to his partner , family and friends.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 14/01/2025 14:44

He was gorgeous when he was younger.

ClawedButler · 14/01/2025 14:48

So sad to hear about this. He struggled a lot for many years due to long-term childhood sexual abuse, which he tried to deal with using alcohol and other self-destructive behaviours. The poor poor man. I heard he was starting to heal and was pleased for him, but I imagine what he put his body through and the years of stress of trying to bury his secret inside himself just put too much strain on him in the end.

The perpetrators of child SA have zero regard for the life-long consequences of their disgusting actions, have they.

Davros · 14/01/2025 14:49

Oh sad. I loved WLIIA and he was great, so quick and funny. 😢

sleepwouldbenice · 14/01/2025 14:51

Gosh I didn't know about his struggles later in life and his childhood trauma. How sad.

Looking back at pictures of him with Emma Thompson and Fry and Laurie...takes me back!

justasking111 · 14/01/2025 14:52

Such a gentle sweet man.

He really was.
And so funny!
I thought he came across as a very kind, damaged person in the documentary 💔

iwishihadaname · 14/01/2025 15:00

Rip

ClawedButler · 14/01/2025 15:01

Oh yes, I had a massive crush on him back in the day.

He seemed such a gentle soul in that documentary.

efeslight · 14/01/2025 15:05

I loved watching him perform, he was so handsome and funny and seemed so kind.
Was a hero of mine in the 90s

ffsgloria · 14/01/2025 15:06

Oh no this is so sad. I loved him back in the day, such a talented and funny man. I had no idea of his troubles, poor poor man.

Desoler · 14/01/2025 15:07

Another one with a huge crush on him back in the day - and I would only have been around 10 😳 loved his twinkly eyes, and he was so funny. So sad.
