The comedian Tony Slattery who was a series regular on "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" in the UK has passed away from a heart attack. He was 65.

I read an interview he gave in the past few years and thought that he was on the way back to performing but god love him, he had a terrible time with drink and drugs.

May he rest in peace.

Such a talent. Loved him in Peter's Friends. A troubled soul. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for the reco @DonutDogBasket , I've added it to my list.

It only started in October :(

HoraceCope · 14/01/2025 20:16

he was good looking when younger, very sad loss

Elderflower14 · 14/01/2025 20:46

Absolutely LOVED him as Sidney Snell in Kingdom.. Chasing after Stephen Frys "Peter Kingdom.." MR KINGGGGGGGGDOM" and waving a load of documents... His romancing of Gloria was a thing to behold.. 💔 💔 💔 💔

This is very sad - I loved him in 'Whose Line'. It was a shock to see him in the documentary a few years ago.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 14/01/2025 20:56

Gorgeous and funny man, remembering whose line is it anyway, it was brilliant.

NameyMcNameyson · 14/01/2025 21:05

I absolutely loved him on WLIIA, and am another one who had a crush on him, such a gorgeous, funny, clever man.
RIP

He had a manic energy and was very funny.

I read a little about his wider life, it was very hard for him. I did think his partner must have been a great thing despite the abuse and torment he suffered on the quiet.

Did anyone else watch in 1993 "Just a Gigalo" there was one series , 7 episodes ?

Treeper22 · 14/01/2025 22:08

What strikes me about the coverage of his life struggles and death is the skirting over of the details of the abuse he suffered as a child (if it's mentioned at all). To be clear he was raped by a priest as an 8 year old. I don't want that to be the defining characteristic of his life but my God he fought hard against the trauma of that 💔

Yes I am pretty sure I watched this.

I'm really aching about this. He was just sooohhhhh beautiful - I hadn't realised he was gay and also had a huge crush on him. Frankly I'm just happy with memories of appreciating him like art.

I hadn't realised he'd been sexually assaulted either... maybe without that, his life would have been longer and happier.

RIP and best wishes to his loved ones.

So sad. I absolutely loved him in Whose Line ... and That's Love, also with Neil Pearson, another of my former crushes

I remember both of those so well and watched regularly. All that energy. President of Footlights too. Thinking of his partner who must be devastated after so many years together.

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/01/2025 23:29

His friend Stephen Fry said he was the sweetest and gentlest soul. What a lovely epitaph.

Ok. Mumsnet doesn’t like the link.

Tony’s friend, Allan, has set up a crowdfunder to cover the costs of Tony’s funeral. If you have a couple of quid to spare then google it and see if you can find it. Alternatively, go to Tony’s Twitter page and it should be on there.

DonutDogBasket · 15/01/2025 18:26

If anyone is interested.

Maybe Stephen can cover his funeral costs then instead of a crowd funded
