Looking for inspiration! We don't normally go on holiday but I really fancy it this year.
Considering possibly Toronto but happy to hear about anywhere
How long do you go for and why have you decided to go there?

We've booked Palma - Majorca for the summer. We're renovating and hoping to move soon so time and money is going on the house this year

Soccermumamir · 12/01/2025 09:18

We're all term time as well, so holidays are through the roof in school holidays 🤦‍♀️

Tinytigertail · 12/01/2025 09:28

City break in Malaga early March
Visiting family in Croatia Easter
Central America trip July-August

ClassicStripe · 12/01/2025 09:58

We are doing Disneyland Paris in May and Cyprus in August. We have a little Legoland trip in February half term.

I'm quite lucky that most of my work colleagues like travel too although I'm probably the most different ie we don't do cruises or package hols but we all like discussing holiday plans, however they look. It keeps us going!
Actually my close friends are the same...currently one is in Australia and one just back from India!

Edited

Yes all my a/l is used for trips. In the last 18 months, I've been on 9 trips:

2 x 2wk trips
2 x 1wk trips
5 x city breaks (4 of which incorporated events)

Fortunately for me, another two colleagues are more noisy about their holidays so I've slipped under the radar for piss-taking 😄

Great thread, lovely to see so many people going away to amazing places.

I live for holidays and travelling but lately I feel like I get the odd eye roll and head shake in disbelief at going on multiple holidays and get reminded about the cost of living crisis, it's really starting to make me reluctant to mention my holidays so I'm not coming across as 'bragging'. We usually go 3, sometimes 4 times a year, mostly Europe with the odd long haul.

Does anyone else get this? I am getting it from certain friends and in particular a family member ( who doesn't really like going on holiday but can afford it if they want).

We budget and plan hard for holidays, it's pretty much where most of our spare money goes. It's nice to see people talking about and getting excited for their travels. Xx

Luckily, we don't experience it IRL as most of our social circle/family are in the same financial situation and enjoy several holidays a year, too. It's only on MN that I've witnessed it - I'm still suffering from the 3rd degree burns I received after mentioning I drive a RR Vogue. Ouch!

This is the first time we're ski-ing in Switzerland, so not an expert at all. But we have rented a beautiful chalet in Les Collons. It came recommended as a quieter, smaller resort which is what we wanted.

2 weeks in France, ferry and driving. Same as every year. Looked at going to Ireland for a short break in April but flights alone were nearly £500 for 4 of us so will see if there's anywhere we can drive to in the UK.

Toronto and Niagara Falls in April, Krakow with my son for 4 days in May then Corfu in September for a week 😀

Toronto/Niagara in on my wish list! Haven't looked too far into it yet. Still researching 'twin centre' holiday packages.

zingally · 12/01/2025 11:44

Going on a 7-night Norwegian cruise in April for a joint big birthday celebration with a friend and her family.
Will also go away for a week in around September with my mum. At the moment we're thinking Croatia, but haven't definitely settled on anything yet.

FlatStanley50 · 12/01/2025 12:22

Puglia in a trulli for a week at May half term
Camping in France for 2 weeks (the Auvergne) in summer holidays
Camp Bestival for a weekend
I think that will be it for this year. Contemplating Lapland for December but we need to do house stuff so shouldn’t really…
Very jealous of the retired people living my dream!

ImWorkingLateCosImASingerrrr · 12/01/2025 13:27

Short 3 day trip to Majorca for the usual gang (friendship circle) in May. Adult only.
June / July 15 days in Cyprus. Got a LOVELY hotel with a swim up pool. Quite an indulgent holiday but we only do a long trip like this every few years. It's me, DH and DD.

October - 3 days solo trip to NY. I have some work to do there but will get a chance to unwind and go out an about. I go to New York a lot though so it's more of a home from home rather than a holiday.

Will be going to Cornwall at least once this year to visit family who live in Praa Sands.

We're looking at India. May I ask where you're going?

We're doing The Golden Triangle then 4 nights in Goa

good luck to you both lovely - treat yourselves when he is well enough

Thank you 😊

We’ve dreamt of it for 35 years, hope this will finally be the year.

Hippokitty · 12/01/2025 16:37

I have loved reading about everyone's plans. It is unlikely that we will manage to get away but I don't mind dreaming.

If anyone feels the need to take an extra person on their trips then you know where I am 😆

For those that aren't getting to go away for whatever reason, fantasy lists are also welcome here!!
