Looking for inspiration! We don't normally go on holiday but I really fancy it this year.
Considering possibly Toronto but happy to hear about anywhere
How long do you go for and why have you decided to go there?

North Denmark. We live in south Denmark 😉

Hah! We’re in North Denmark and planning to explore South a bit more, wave at you on the way past 😁

Vietnam in March. I've been planning it for a couple of years so am very excited.

We'll see how £££ it ends up being. It is often touted as being good value so fingers crossed.

If there is any budget left I'd like to do something in August to include our adult DC. It is my 60th birthday in August and August is also when both DH and DC can usually get time off. Not the best time of year unfortunately.

Depending on budget and time available we may go to see bears in Romania or Finland, East Coast Canada as BIL lives there and it would be good to get the cousins together, or possibly Sintra and Lisbon if short on time. Another option would be Dalyan in Turkey but it may be just too hot.

Ohshutupsimonyoutwat · 11/01/2025 13:48

3 weeks today I shall be in Sri Lanka. Our third trip there as we just love the place. End of January hot holiday gets us through the depressingly long winter here.

jocktamsonsbairn · 11/01/2025 13:48

All of this is on a budget using cheap flights and bargain hotels as I have very little spare cash. I intend to sell stuff on vinted to supplement it too!!

2 nights in Spain end of Jan (birthday weekend)

2 nights in Poland in Feb

2 nights glamping somewhere in England in April for my friends 50th.

2-3 weeks island hopping in Greece in July. Booking the cheapest budget accommodation is usually the way to meet the local characters and I book the cheaper ferries even if they take longer as I enjoy a wee sail!

Iwishiwasagiraffe · 11/01/2025 13:50

We haven’t been abroad for a few years so excited to have booked 2 trips for this year. We’re going to Montenegro in April and Rhodes in the summer. I’m a bit worried about Rhodes in August due to fires but it’s booked now. we’ve booked a really lovely hotel and the kids are super excited so fingers crossed it’ll all be ok.

Crunchymum · 11/01/2025 13:51

10 days in a family friends cottage on SE coast in July (generous discount)

Maybe a week in Scotland in the May half term (to stay with a friend)

It's all we can afford. 2 out of my 3 DC have never been abroad 😒

frecklejuice · 11/01/2025 13:56

We are off to Abu Dhabi at the beginning of March for a week.

LumpyPumpkin · 11/01/2025 14:01

Akureyri, Iceland. Flights were under £50pp. Going to hire a car and visit waterfalls and thermal spas.

ReignOfError · 11/01/2025 14:08

Indulgent year, after a fairly tough couple of years for us: Italy in March, April - June: Greece, North Macedonia, Albania, Romania, Slovenia, Italy, maybe Austria or Switzerland (not necessarily in that order!). July or September: Germany and France.

Pretty much all of this will be backpacking, and by train/local buses, although we will have to hire a car once or twice, and we'll take our own car to Germany/France, I think.

katscamel · 11/01/2025 15:08

Australia and NZ for me after a toughish 2 years and a lot of saving.
Somewhere else later on in the year depending on work.
Liked Toronto though the weather wasn't great , hated Niagara Falls, loved Ottawa and would happily go back.

TENSsion · 11/01/2025 15:25

I was just looking at booking some weekends at various havens throughout the summer. We usually do a weekend every month from April to September.
We are a family of five so even budget deals are thousands for a week away in the school holidays. Luckily, ours are still all under 8 so they love haven caravan holidays.
We’re hoping things level out a bit, financially, soon so we can start looking g at holidays abroad. We’ve managed the odd city break in Italy etc with them so far but we’d love it to be more regular and longer.
The cost of living is just so high and consequently people are spending less with our business. It’s a much tighter ship than a 5 years ago.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 11/01/2025 15:26

Antarctica. Left home 2 days ago and now in Santiago Chile waiting to transfer to Punta Arenas tomorrow.

Ted27 · 11/01/2025 15:29

Isle of Wight and Cornwall.

Looking for a short city break with my son, we went to Copenhagen in June and had a great time so looking over that general direction - possibly Oslo

YourNimbleOchrePoster · 11/01/2025 15:30

I am dithering over whether to book a trip to UAE next week.

Feb/March-China for two weeks as I haven’t been before.

May-Seattle for a few days and then a 9 day Alaskan cruise for the scenery and a new experience.

5 days in Italy for a wedding.

Another 5 days in Italy (booked before the wedding invite) followed by a 12 night Adriatic cruise for no particular reason.

I haven’t booked my Autumn holidays yet.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 11/01/2025 15:30

Manchester in March and Butlins in summer! I know how to live (I did backpack round Oz/NZ in my twenties plus been to most continents but things have changed somewhat!)

My DD is 17 and never been abroad. We are going to North Yorkshire for 2 weeks in August.

catin8oots · 11/01/2025 15:40

I'm not going anywhere because same as PP - Covid and cancer

However - in fantasy land 😀

Les deux alpes for skiiing in half term

Long weekend break to Florence at Easter

Pig beach in the Bahamas May half term

Summer hols a month in a gite in l'ardeche

October half term - winter sun in the canaries somewhere

Christmas 2025 - a fancy cabin in the Cotswolds with a hot tub

😀😀🤩

DilemmaDelilah · 11/01/2025 15:48

We have loads of restrictions on where we can go and how we can travel.... Both immunocompromised so no plane travel. DH has to avoid extremes of hot and cold, so nowhere it is really hot and then air conditioned inside, plus I have to avoid sunlight (no I'm not a vampire 😊). We also have an elderly cat we can't leave at the moment.

So - depending on elderly cat - I thought we would probably go to the Channel Islands, in September. We can drive and get the ferry. I like boat trips and we should be able to do that from there. I hope to get somewhere with a private pool. We would be able to drive round Jersey or Guernsey. There are lovely grades and good restaurants. We don't need glamour and glitz and we don't need 'entertainment'.

Gall10 · 11/01/2025 15:50

Just so I can be one up on some mumsnetters….dark side of the moon!

I'm off to Mars, got my Joules spacesuit ordered already.

katscamel · 11/01/2025 15:52

@YourNimbleOchrePoster don't mention the UAE on here, unless the hatred is just for Dubai. I love the UAE, lived in Dubai and Fujairah and visited most of the Emirates.
Go and get some warmth and 🌞

lentersa · 11/01/2025 16:01

Disney Cruise in the summer, 5 nights. We haven't been on one before but my dcs love Disney shows and pools so I expect they'll enjoy it.

Florida to visit family, for 10 nights at Easter.

A short break or two, not sure where yet. Maybe Peppa Pig World, Legoland, Butlins.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/01/2025 16:03

Husband has life saving surgery in two weeks.

We’re loving the idea of a northern lights cruise on a small ship when he’s well enough to travel again.

HappyPanda613 · 11/01/2025 16:05

Turkey this year. I’ve wanted to go for so long and me and the girlies will finally be jetting out for some fun in the sun! I’ve been looking at pictures for the last few months, the men there are so hot!

ToastyCat · 11/01/2025 16:05

Spain in May and Florida in November
