Looking for inspiration! We don't normally go on holiday but I really fancy it this year.
Considering possibly Toronto but happy to hear about anywhere
How long do you go for and why have you decided to go there?

We're off to India in two weeks; a caravan holiday in Poole with The Sun newspaper in July and Turkey in September.

Deadringer · 11/01/2025 18:35

We are going to Denmark for a week in the summer, and maybe a weekend in Madrid or Seville. If finances allow we are hoping to go to Italy too, I would really like to travel around Northern italy visiting Florence, Venice, Verona, lake garda, lake como and maybe Milan and Bologna.

Vitriolinsanity · 11/01/2025 18:41

Malta so the DC can get their dive qualification in a place that suits all our needs.

Lots of UK weekend breaks on the cards.

Skiing in Feb half term.

California (well - hopefully. Obviously a pin in this one currently due to the fires) as a work trip over Easter - taking DS as there's good childcare attached to the offices and we'll do Disney/sightseeing for a few days each end.

Scotland for the NC500 in May (alternating cheap hotels/camping)

European road trip (France/Germany/Austria/Hungary/Croatia/Slovenia/Italy) this summer - camping and Eurocamps.

Possibly New York this autumn? DM wants to go but not sure if she'll be well enough to travel.

Sitting on my hands to prevent myself from booking Lapland as well 🫣

Lapland was the best day trip I have ever had. It beat my wedding day into oblivion.

Arraminta · 11/01/2025 19:05

So far, we've booked 5 days in a cottage in Cumbria next month. 7 days in a beach house in Cape Cod + 3 days in a hotel in Boston + 4 days in an inn in Vermont, in June with our best friends. 7 days in a chalet in Switzerland ski-ing over Christmas with our DDs.

Howlongisittomynextholiday · 11/01/2025 19:14

16 nights Malaysia and Cambodia - January

14 nights Island hopping in Greece (return flights to Athens booked but not sure which islands yet - possibly Syros and Tinos) - June

Somewhere abroad for 8 nights - October

A couple of long weekend city breaks - not yet planned.

All my annual leave is spent on holiday abroad, but I am child and mortgage free. I also want to make the most of the time I have to travel while I have the health and fitness to do so, especially since recently losing a close relative sooner than expected.

Dressinggownlife · 11/01/2025 19:17

Sweden at Easter and a wedding in Malta in Aug will turn in to a holiday

LittleRedRidingHoody · 11/01/2025 19:18

@Vitriolinsanity this is what I keep hearing 😬 I was going to go the year DS declared disbelief in Santa but I'm not sure I can wait that long 😂

Mary46 · 11/01/2025 19:24

Spain Cambrils in Aug. We like Holland too so maybe a weekend there too. Great thread

I greased the Elf and gave her DS's reluctantly penned list. Worked like a charm 😉

NoNoNona · 11/01/2025 20:10

Skiing in Austria next week and again at the end of February
In between 4 weeks in Sri Lanka
Easter in Alsace
Early summer Greece
Summer at home, fine-tuning new house & garden
Mid-September to mid-October Sri Lanka again
Need to think about next Christmas
Warning - we have a VERY large annual income, under a million but more than half a million
Also live in Euope, which helps a lot with travel as much less expensive than from the UK

Simonjt · 11/01/2025 20:10

A few camping trips booked, we’ll go to the UK for at least a week in the summer to see my mum. Apart from that no other holiday plans

GulfCoast · 11/01/2025 20:14

Bahamas for a few days early May (we live in Florida so it’s very close). Norway in June. Rhine cruise in November.

GRCP · 11/01/2025 20:48

Cornwall in the summer but also considering Canary Islands in October if budget allows. Or a shorter city break in Paris.

Namechange6578 · 11/01/2025 20:49

lentersa · 11/01/2025 16:01

Disney Cruise in the summer, 5 nights. We haven't been on one before but my dcs love Disney shows and pools so I expect they'll enjoy it.

Florida to visit family, for 10 nights at Easter.

A short break or two, not sure where yet. Maybe Peppa Pig World, Legoland, Butlins.

We're also going on a Disney cruise in August for the first time, pricey for 5 nights but I'm really looking forward to it!

Will prob do a UK break in April or May also.

NorthernGirlie · 11/01/2025 20:51

We usually go to Turkey. Thinking about Japan this year for a few days - looking at what we could combine it with. Maybe Thailand? We can scrape 3 weeks of holidays off and this would be a 1 off holiday!

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 11/01/2025 20:59

La Palma
Turkey
Road trip across Oregon and Washington

Looking at somewhere in mainland Spain, not been before. Colorado for a family visit.

San Sebastián is beautiful.

Rockandgrohl · 11/01/2025 21:01

Caravan in Northumberland for a week and 5 days at centre parcs, we aren't struggling but reading threads like these on mumsnet certainly makes me feel like the poor relation 🤣

supercaladala · 11/01/2025 21:04

Hopefully Melbourne and Rd trip to Sydney in November with my son, if he is still in Melbourne.

socks1107 · 11/01/2025 21:06

Portugal end of this month and Gran Canaria in September.
Will likely do another city break in June

Cheshire71 · 11/01/2025 21:08

We're doing a 2 week cruise to northern Europe including Germany, Estonia, Finland and Denmark.

MayaTheBusyBee · 11/01/2025 21:10

We are going to Barbados in 4 weeks.
then Dubai in March, Peak District in April and Northumberland in June. Mexico in October and France for Christmas market in December.
Making the most of being on maternity leave and older DD not being compulsory school age until January 😆

CharlotteCChapel · 11/01/2025 21:11

So far Rome in February and Brighton in April, those are booked but we've not firmed up plans for later in the year.
