Who does your DC(s) look like?

Do they look more like

You?
Their dad?
A rare combination of both?
Neither, but a throwback to a previous generation?

A friend has two DCs of the same sex.
One is the absolute spit of her, the other is their dad in miniature - they think it's hilarious just how uncanny it is.

Mine goes - eldest is more like dad, youngest is more me.
Middlest is probs 75/25 in dad's favour.

My DD2 looks like her paternal great grandmother. We have a photo of her and the likeness is uncanny. DD1 looks like her paternal grandmother/dad. The genes are obviously strong on DH's side!

PantherchameleonsocksforChristmas · 05/01/2025 09:29

I have one (another one is brewing!) and he looks most like his dad. People say it all the time. I do see myself there too though, and sometimes other people say they can spot my features, but he's more his dad in looks.

AmateurNoun · 05/01/2025 09:32

DS looks a bit like me as a child (if I had been a boy) and DH's half-brother as a child. He also dimples like my father and brother.

thegirlwithapearl · 05/01/2025 09:33

We think mixture. They've changed as they've grown and looked like both of us at different times. All look totally different from each other.
If you ask MIL, they all look exactly like DH and have never looked like me in any way😂

LottieMary · 05/01/2025 09:34

2 boys look exactly like their dad but at different stages of his life - one as he did as a child one very like now
My sister is the image of our aunt. We think two sisters look very different to one another but they've been asked if they're sisters when working at the same place (different surnames too)

My DD2 looks like her paternal great grandmother. We have a photo of her and the likeness is uncanny. DD1 looks like her paternal grandmother/dad. The genes are obviously strong on DH's side!

Just to add my DDs are adults now so these likenesses are pretty much set and unlikely to change!

Killerqueenie · 05/01/2025 09:37

My son looks more like his dad, but weirdly, as he is getting older, I can see a resemblance to one of my cousins on my mums side.

My daughter looks almost exactly the same as I did when I was her age, but at times, with certain facial expressions, she has a little resemblance to her dad.

troppibambini6 · 05/01/2025 09:38

1-dad
2-mum
3-mum with dads eyes
4-paternal grandma
5-dad
6-dads brother 😆

popandchoc · 05/01/2025 09:38

My eldest looks like me and can see a strong resemblance to my mum as well. Youngest looks more like her dad and is going to be tall like him too.

MrsSethGecko · 05/01/2025 09:39

Her father and one of my brothers. Sometimes a bit of my sister.

BilboBlaggin · 05/01/2025 09:42

I have two young adult DDs.

DD1 is dark haired and very petite, size 6. Not sure who the petiteness comes from but her colouring and facial features are definitely my side of the family.

DD2 is blonde and has a more curvy figure. Features wise she's very much like DH when he was younger. DDs are chalk and cheese and you wouldn't guess they were sisters if you didn't know.

Mandarinjuice · 05/01/2025 09:44

Eldest was the spit of his dad as a baby but looks like a mix of us both now he’s 4. Dad’s dark hair but floppy and straight like mine. My pale skin, my nose, otherwise just like my husband. Pulls a lot of my facial expressions which makes him look more like me! 😂

Youngest looks almost exactly like I’ve given birth to my SIL! It’s disconcerting. Often gets mistaken for hers if we are in a group. No resemblance at all to me.

Januarythroughtojuly · 05/01/2025 09:45

We have 4 generations where the eldest girl of each is the spitting image of their mother.
So dd looks like me, ds1 a bit of a mixture of generations past, second cousins etc, ds2 is a cross between mum and dad.

DefyingGravy · 05/01/2025 09:50

DS1 looks like me/my brother. Completely. There’s nothing of DH in him, it’s rather embarrassing. When DS1 started school my brother’s old teacher recognised him (much younger brother but even so it had been 15 years since brother had left).

DS2 is DH’s face, but a lighter colouring and his own unusual eye colour.

My children do not look like they are related at all.

It’s interesting if you use that app where you age a face. That confirmed the above though!

TwirlyPineapple · 05/01/2025 09:51

My DS is an absolute clone of me. Not really when he was a newborn but as soon as he started looking less generic, he was identical to me as a baby.

Now he's a bit older, it can be quite a shock sometimes to see my own face glaring back at me when he's in a strop.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/01/2025 09:53

DD (4) looks like me. So much so that people stop me often to tell me how identical we look, we get a lot of gasps and OMGs. I don't think we do look that much alike though.

I get told my DS (2) looks like his dad but I don't think so. He looks more like my brother did at that age.

I've always looked more like my dad but now I'm 40 I'm starting to look like my mum and that is NOT a good thing 😂. I hope my daughter doesn't change that much as she ages!

Baneofmyexistence · 05/01/2025 09:53

Eldest DS looks like my FIL. Second DS looks like DH but with my eyes. DD looks very much like me.

DefyingGravy · 05/01/2025 09:53

We once had all the NCT babies lined up, when they were very small, and every one looked like their dad (which is supposed to be an evolutionary thing when they are newborns, apparently). Except for mine!

namechangeGOT · 05/01/2025 09:56

My son is an absolute carbon copy of his dad but with a personality that is the exact copy of mine!

Sprogonthetyne · 05/01/2025 09:56

Both almost entirely my, one has DH's eye's but other then that there's relatively little of him in them. However DD (who is almost a clone of me at that age) has a cousin on DH's side that could be her twin, the cousin looks nothing like DH's brother either so no idea how that happened.

Sherararara · 05/01/2025 09:56

My 10 yo DS oddly looks a lot like my old neighbour. Haven’t seen him in a decade or so. Used to have a lot of fun together though truth be told I can’t remember much of it!

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 05/01/2025 09:59

People comment on how much ds looks like DH, strangers in cafés etc not just people we know, he literally has his father's face, people think he has my colouring, but DH had fair hair as a child. They also have exactly the same build/body type, tall, lean, broad shoulders. He does have my eye colour and a very slight tinge of red in his hair in the sun which comes from me. That's about it!

Twixtmasjigsaw · 05/01/2025 09:59

My DS looks like a mash up of my side, a bit of me, my brother, my Dad and Uncle. Nothing at all like DH in looks but entirely him in personality....

TribeofFfive · 05/01/2025 10:01

We have 4. 2 of them (1st and 3rd) are the double of me and each other. My 2nd is the double of my DH. 4th is still very young but looks very much like DH and DS1 but also has a look of me when I was a baby.

CeeJay81 · 05/01/2025 10:03

DD def like me. DS a bit more a mix but people would probably say both are like me due to the dark hair.
