I have just taken a 7.5mg zoplicone tablet. I hardly ever take them, and am going through a stressful period where I am having trouble sleeping. I took one about ten minutes ago, having forgotten that I had two single G&Ts earlier this evening - between 6.30 and 7.30. I've had a full meal since. Will I be okay? I've tried to make myself throw up and can't? Do I need to go to the hospital? Please help, am freaking out and on my own - my husband is away until Sunday.

Ring 111 and ask.

Call 111

Mickz · 03/01/2025 23:27

You’ll be absolutely fine, you don’t need to make yourself sick. Try not to stress, hope you manage to get some sleep.

AlwaysFreezing · 03/01/2025 23:27

Its not ideal, but i don't think it's A&E worthy. I think you'll be fine and have a great sleep.

You could call 111 to ask them?

Bluesteps · 03/01/2025 23:27

You will be fine. Don't panic. Try and drink a few glasses of water .

WaitingForMojo · 03/01/2025 23:28

You’ll be absolutely fine

CRJ77 · 03/01/2025 23:28

Thank you everyone. Those saying it will be fine, can you explain why? I'm in a panicky state anyway and need reassurance.

When my mum was dying zopiclone and white wine was the only thing that got me to sleep!

WonderingWanda · 03/01/2025 23:30

Why don't you call 111 or a pharmacy and get some advice? We have no idea if the people who have replied on this thread are actually medically trained at all?

Comportment · 03/01/2025 23:30

Nasty drug but I dont remember them saying about alcohol. I think it means don't get absolutely hammered and take them as you may properly pass out. But 2 singles hours ago wouldnt make a difference i dont think.

mynameiscalypso · 03/01/2025 23:31

You'll be fine. I've taken it after having a drink. You'll be quite sleepy and might feel a bit crap tomorrow.

CIaudiasFringe · 03/01/2025 23:31

7.5 is a tiny dose - I took a bigger dose for a while and always drank at leas t 2 glasses of wine. You'll be absolutely fine and will sleep well.

Impatientwino · 03/01/2025 23:31

I'm not a medic but if I was in this situation my rationale would be that if the body processes a unit of alcohol in roughly an hour the 2 single gins should have been processed by now so therefore I wouldn't be too worried. This is just my opinion though!

If you are worried though call 111

TortellinimorelikeTorteLIEni · 03/01/2025 23:32

111 are really good for stuff like this. Or at least the one I worked for was. They had nurses who could look this stuff up and reassure you or advice to you if you needed medical attention.

swampusdonkus · 03/01/2025 23:33

Hi, I am not a medic but I doubt you need hospital. Based on my own experience of using these tablets occasionally, and having drunk alcohol with them a few times in my past, you might find yourself extra sleepy and a bit clumsy. Based on this I would go to bed as soon as possible and just drift off. Have a glass of water and e.g. a bottle of Lucozade next to your bed as you'll likely wake up with a dry mouth and a horrible taste in your mouth. So get yourself to bed asap and you'll probably sleep a good 8-10 hours.

CRJ77 · 03/01/2025 23:36

Yes @ScaryM0nster I've read that and that's what terrified me as it talks about coma and stroke.

I'm on hold with 111 right now.

SnugNightsss · 03/01/2025 23:38

Just ring 111 OP as others have said. I’m not a medic either but I’m sure this is absolutely not a problem at all. You’ve had hardly any alcohol and it was hours ago and you’ve had a tiny dose of Zopiclone. So it’ll be fine. You’ll feel better with an actual medic reassuring you though I’m sure. Are you getting any help for anxiety at all? You seem very worried about this.

CRJ77 · 03/01/2025 23:38

Yes I am seeing a therapist for anxiety. It works sometimes but not always, as you can probably tell.

CRJ77 · 03/01/2025 23:38

I'm on hold with 111 right now.

No red marker - so no severe interactions at normal doses.

In future, if you can’t manage these kinds of medication you should maybe reconsider keeping it in the house.

olympicsrock · 03/01/2025 23:40

You’ll be fine. Is there anyone else in the house with you ?

AquaPeer · 03/01/2025 23:42

You’ll be lucky to get a call back from 111 before 6am tomorrow.

as others have said quite common to drink and take zopiclone, I’ve done it myself with no issues.
