I have just taken a 7.5mg zoplicone tablet. I hardly ever take them, and am going through a stressful period where I am having trouble sleeping. I took one about ten minutes ago, having forgotten that I had two single G&Ts earlier this evening - between 6.30 and 7.30. I've had a full meal since. Will I be okay? I've tried to make myself throw up and can't? Do I need to go to the hospital? Please help, am freaking out and on my own - my husband is away until Sunday.

No my husband is away. This is part of the reason I'm not sleeping and why I'm panicking so much.

111 were reassuring - said it should be fine and I would be safe to go to sleep. Thanks for your reassurance everyone, I know I do still need significant help for my anxiety.

Help for anxiety, and not to be left responsible for medication and alcohol until you’re capable of managing it appropriately.

CRJ77 · 03/01/2025 23:54

@ScaryM0nster Point fully taken but I take a sleeping pill about once every three years, and drink hardly at all. This is partly why I have so little idea what impact it might have. Nonetheless, your point stands.

I’m glad they managed to reassure you OP. I hope you start to feel better in the near future. Anxiety is so horrible!

RabbitsEatPancakes · 04/01/2025 00:03

Average person clears a unit of alcohol an hour. So 2 units 5hours is fine, you be probably nothing left in your system at all.

And how do you suppose she can render herself "not responsible for medication and alcohol?" How does an adult do this, pray tell? Have herself sectioned on the basis that she drank two small gins and took a small amount of zopiclone? Do you really think so?

Or perhaps you should stop being so fucking rude and ridiculous. Maybe you shouldn't be left in charge of your laptop/phone until you can speak to people on the internet in a kind, proportionate and rational manner?

OP, as I think you have identified this was a very extreme, anxiety-driven reaction. I've suffered from health-anxiety myself before and know how Hellish it can be.

Keep seeking help for your anxiety - you can beat this, I promise. Meanwhile be kind to yourself. And ignore nasty people on the internet who enjoy sticking the boot in for their own weird sense of gratification.

Good luck!

Alcohol clears at approximately 1 unit per hour so the Alcohol is likely to be gone ftom your blood stream by now, in any case . Even if you had the drinks with your Zopicline it wouldn't be dangerous but the alcohol could enhance the effects of the sleeping tablet and make you more drowsy.

Gorgeousfeet · 04/01/2025 00:13

Not a medic but I would try not to stress too much.
A total no no but before now I have mixed diazepam and alcohol.

you will be fine.

thrifty24 · 04/01/2025 00:14

I think two small measures of gin would have left your system by now? Is your worry that you have taken the tablet whilst drinking?

Op is probably asleep now

dcbgr · 04/01/2025 00:17

You will be okay

Pickledpeanuts · 04/01/2025 00:19

CRJ77 at that amount and with that time in between you'll be fine. You might feel a little groggy tomorrow.
Anxiety is something to think about how you'll address tomorrow after the deepest sleep you'll have had yet, tonight just take a deep breath.

Your husband is away until Sunday. Not meant to an unkind comment but my husband is away until March. I too have significant and debilitating and quite frankly, crippling anxiety.
I hear you but you’ll be okay 🩷

7.5 is a tiny dose - I took a bigger dose for a while and always drank at leas t 2 glasses of wine. You'll be absolutely fine and will sleep well.

There are various problems in this. You should probably go and see your doctor if you are regularly using zopicline plus alcohol to sleep.
And no, it isn’t a tiny dose.

Having said that - yes, OP you should be fine. You should not drive in the morning until you are sure you are not still affected/ drowsy.

CRJ77 · 04/01/2025 00:26

Thanks all. I don’t need to drive anywhere tomorrow or do anything before lunchtime.

Good Luck for Weds. You’ll be great & it sounds as if you undersold yourself in the opening post.
The provenance of food is really important to these people so find an excellent local fishmonger & butcher & the work will be done for you with great fresh ingredients tuna steak, scallops, rack of lamb, steak etc all easy to prep as long as the quality is good.

You’ll be lucky to get a call back from 111 before 6am tomorrow.

as others have said quite common to drink and take zopiclone, I’ve done it myself with no issues.

Why would you think it would take so long? I have had several 111 call backs and never waited more than about 90 minutes. I think it's a wonderful service. Last time I had to call they arranged a GPs appointment for me less than an hour later at my local hospital- and this was at 11pm at night.

Bless you OP, glad you feel reassured.

I suffer with quite bad anxiety (normally worrying over stuff that hasn’t or won’t happen). It’s debilitating, and no matter how many times people say “Just don’t worry” it doesn’t help, or make it any easier.

Listening to some white noise, or an interesting podcast helps me fall asleep without my mind racing.

Go easy on your self x

BigCheese24 · 04/01/2025 00:41

You'll be fine. Go to bed and probably have the best sleep of your life.
