Bought beautiful new bedsheets. Reduced in the sale, gorgeous colours with toadstools on them, felt ok in the shop.
Got them home, washed them and they have gone shiny 🤬 like the kind of static shiny so that your duvet ends up in a weird shape and you're rolled up like a stuck sweating pig.

Am absolutely gutted (and furious 😠) and hoping a trip to Homesense will cure me of my wierd shiny-bedsheet-hate.

A steam cleaner that broke after 2 uses. I sent it back and the replacement broke after 2 uses. It didn't just steam stuff off like the ads, it was rubbish.

Something called a twinkling tree that was just cheap crap

Also, any large purchase of favourite cat food is immediately followed by cats refusing to eat that food ever again.

Nannygoat151 · 04/01/2025 18:24

Take them back . They will refund

MasterpiecesofthePuzzle · 04/01/2025 18:25

Bought our son a basket ball and pump from Amazon. It was one of their pre-Xmas ‘Specials’. Ball comes deflated. Pin missing from pump 😡 can only return and purchase replacement. Although back at original price 🙄

Brokeandold · 04/01/2025 18:34

I was disappointed with the selection of the M&S party food on Christmas eve, in past years there has been lots of choice , a decent selection
this year barely much choice, alot of fishy dishes?
barely any mince pies, no christmas munch tins-definitely not good Christmas selection 2024
think i might do my own party food this Christmas 2025, as mentioned on previous posts, although would prefer not cooking at all ! imagine a catered Christmas break , staying in a lovely house, swimming pool, all food prepared and cooked for you….
can only dream !

The M&S Christmas Colin - impossible to cut, dry, too sweet, much smaller than it looked in the box. Very disappointing.

I loved them, we had two over the festive period LOL!

Pliudev · 04/01/2025 18:40

I posted about this before Christmas and received good advice so I won't go on. But I ordered a suede jacket from a website claiming to be a UK family firm and offering a100% guarantee. It wasn't incredibly expensive but it wasn't cheap either. 10 days later, a parcel arrived from Pakistan measuring 12x14 inches and crammed inside was a jacket that looked nothing like the one I'd ordered. Thank goodness for PayPal because the firm completely refused to refund me until PayPal got involved. Lesson learned.

I got DS a PlayStation portal. Was his only big present.

What an expensive load of rubbish!

We got one for ds last year. It ended up being traded into CEX by March. It was useless, kept lagging and losing connection and the PS5 needing to be on to play it is a real flaw for what's meant to be a portable device!
Apparently there's a new app to allow you to play games remotely on it via cloud gaming rather than live streaming, which would have been a game changer for us a year ago!

So little cake - so much crap chocolate.

@Needanewname42 Keter ones are brilliant! We’ve been storing sofa cushions in ours for almost 4 years and they’re bone dry, no issues. We have the 870l one, definitely worth the money.

I second this- the keter boxes are great (& huge!)

Why don't you set an alarm/timer on your phone?

😂😂😂 OP has never thought of this.

I have ADHD and I can explain that there are too many steps. You open the phone to set the alarm. Oh look a notification or a text and boom you're off, 15 minutes later, no egg has been boiled.

I've used an egg shaped timer. They are quite good if you have an open plan kitchen as you can't not hear it.

The Sainsburys ones were exactly the same 🤢. I hate pork belly anyway so I didn’t lose out and the men seemed to enjoy them but they were such a faff to make up.

Also bought from Sainsbury . Really looked forward to them. Such a faff for bitty lumps of fat. Sauce was nice tho.

They really need to get back to basics. No doubt they will say customer feedback is delighted with all the changes they've made, but anecdotally everyone thinks they are awful. I'd love to know if their sales have dropped a lot this year.

I think they changed the wrappers so that they are now recyclable; the shinty plastic stuff & foil weren't/too fiddly to do.
Less plastic waste. And tbh shiny plastic wrapping is sooo last century.

TimeIretired · 04/01/2025 18:54

@ifIwerenotanandroid i order regularly from Tescos and when this (very occasionally) happens I contact customer services and get an immediate refund.

MeandT · 04/01/2025 18:55

Mr Frosty!

Always wanted one as a kid. Parents refused as they were "plastic tat".

BIL got one for DCs...my parents were right 😢

LalaPaloosa2024 · 04/01/2025 19:00

My dash cam. Didn’t fit my cigarette lighter connection in the car. Fuming. Can’t return.

Andrew James electric milk frother. I don't even want to talk about it. Thanks for the thread! 😂

Yes, I get the change to the packaging but not the flavours.

Thanks to all who've given assurances over Keter boxes, we now have a couple on order

Stuffedasasausage · 04/01/2025 19:11

Waitrose Pistachio Tiramisu. Far too sweet, not enough sponge. A shame as their normal one is my favourite store bought tiramisu.

Grammarnut · 04/01/2025 19:11

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 04/01/2025 14:46

@Grammarnut

You are not supposed to wear earings constantly

Presumably that doesn't apply to gold sleepers? I used to wear quite chunky earrings and take them out every night, but I've now got some small white gold sleeper hoops which I had as a Christmas present 2019 and I haven't taken them out since. I can't wear any other metal though.

No, and I also wore gold sleepers permanently. But other earings, no. Apart from anything else, the shafts dig in at night!

FurForksSake · 04/01/2025 19:18

Turkey crown from the supermarket, we always get a full turkey and this year I was convinced by others to buy a crown.

It was cooked using a temperature probe and rested well. It was basted and I covered it under the skin with seasoned butter. Cooked slowly, covered in foil etc etc. I have been cooking turkeys for twenty years and can cook a fabulous roast.

This thing had no flavour, not one bit and was the driest thing ever.

I will be ordering a full turkey from a local butcher next year, the disappointment in this was huge.

My husband bought me some lovely (expensive) earrings. I’m always losing a single stud when the back falls off.

These have a screw on back. My god the pain when I put the first one in. I thought maybe the post was a bit big but the second earring got screwed into my ear and I couldn’t get it all the way through or out again without turning it like a screw.

I’ve had pierced ears for over forty years and have never had a problem.

Obviously, being earring you can’t return them. Awful design.

Are they the ones you need to put in backwards? So the bit you screw into goes in first but through the back of the ear and the front then screws into the metal that’s poking through?

I just knuckled down & had a favourite (& rarely bought because it wasn't my usual supermarket) meal two nights running. I mean, it was hard but somebody had to do it.😁

Thanks, this wasn't Tesco but I'll bear it in mind.
