Do you regularly have an afternoon nap?

And if so what time and for how long?

Considering trying to make this a habit, as insomnia is taking its toll

My dh does - I think this negatively affects his night time sleep, but might be different for you since you already aren't sleeping well.

FergussSingsTheBlues · 01/01/2025 14:52

Yes daily at 2-3pm for about 40 mins. Brilliant for my mood and energy levels

FelixtheAardvark · 01/01/2025 14:53

No, but if I feel like one, I'll have one.

tinydynamine · 01/01/2025 14:57

Saturdays and Sundays definitely, and during holidays at home. Also when working from home during lockdown.

pinksquash13 · 01/01/2025 14:58

If I nap then 3pm is my latest wake up time. That is also true for my 2 year old haha. I aim for 1.5 hours but anything 45mins + is good for me. I find a 30min nap sometimes makes me feel worse.

pinksquash13 · 01/01/2025 14:58

Ps I love naps

EveryDayisFriday · 01/01/2025 14:59

I've started to need one every few days around 2pm. Damn peri insomnia

PrincessHoneysuckle · 01/01/2025 14:59

Not often but I had a stunning one for an hour yesterday pm

Lavenderandbrown · 01/01/2025 14:59

Not daily but often enough. It s the fountain of youth. My coworker would tease me about my 2 hour nap before my 8 hour night sleep. I have always needed a lot of rest. I would say I average an hour when I do nap and it’s deep sleep with dreams and quite restorative. I’m very productive then sleep hard then very productive again. Been doing this since high school.

Joystir59 · 01/01/2025 14:59

Quite often. In my defence I'm 67 and retired. Not every day though, I try to keep busy until tea time most days.

WhatIDoIsEnough · 01/01/2025 14:59

Semi often. Usually when I feel like everything in general is getting on top of me.
It's ranged from 30 min to 4 hours.

Houseplanter · 01/01/2025 14:59

Sorry another question... do you manage to nod off on the sofa or do you actually go to bed?

I find sleeping impossible unless I lie down so would have to go to bed, and then I probably wouldn't want to get up again.

Never! I'd have to be seriously ill to be able to sleep in the day time.

DH used to nap in the day, before being diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea. He now has a CPAP machine and very rarely naps in the day.

Christmasrefridgerator · 01/01/2025 15:04

I did before I started hrt, needed 2 naps a day. Don't anymore now I am on hrt though

Munkypuppy · 01/01/2025 15:06

2pm, bout 30mins, very reliant on it to be productive, i wake up very early without fail and need a battery recharge

LonelyInDville · 01/01/2025 15:09

I nap almost every Saturday and Sunday, and probably once or twice during the week (maybe more if I'm exhausted). Usually during lunch time. I rarely go to my bed as my room is so bright, I usually lean my chair back and put my feet up and conk out for about an hour. I love naps, and have been a napper since I was a teen. I also rarely sleep thru the night, but even if I do I usually can still take a nap the next day. 😂

ObtuseMoose · 01/01/2025 15:09

I never nap, I sleep well at night and that's enough for me. The thought of going to bed for a sleep in the afternoon actually fills me with dread.

I'm exactly the same. I don't just nod off. No naps for me (although would be hard in the middle of the working day in any event!)

fivebyfivebuffy · 01/01/2025 15:10

Yes after work (chronic health conditions)
Usually sleep 4.30-6.30 then up to shower, cook etc
I'm a night owl so then sleep 1am - 7am ish

Mushroo · 01/01/2025 15:11

Never! I work full time. How does everyone have time for all these naps?

If I have one on holiday I just wake up feeling groggy and irritable

Gowlett · 01/01/2025 15:12

I’d never sleep during day, unless I was sick.

twentysevendresses · 01/01/2025 15:14

I wish I could...I feel like I'd benefit greatly but sadly my boss would not approve! I'm very much in the 'for' camp though...I'd love to be in a country that embraces the 'siesta' 😍

Betchyaby · 01/01/2025 15:27

On occasion but it is usually after 3 nights of crap sleep. I have insomnia.

Lifestooshort71 · 01/01/2025 15:32

I have one most days but never more than an hour. I put my feet up on the sofa, settle back with comfy cushions and a blanket and I'm gone. I'm taking Letrozole and never sleep well at night because of this devil pill. I'm retired - don't know how I'd manage if I was still working.
