I’m Scottish so it’s the law that we Have Steak pie, mashed potatoes and peas😂
The beef’s been in the slow cooker since 8am and is just about hitting the falling apart stage 🤤, and tomorrow it’ll get a puff pastry lid before going in the oven.
Thinking I may break slightly with tradition and do roast potatoes as well as mash.
When my parents were around it was always trifle for pudding, but no real fans now, so I’ve just made a Biscoff cheesecake which is LUSH.

Whats on your menu?

Lots of lovely dinners but what did we all have for breakfast/brunch?
Tradition in this house is smoked salmon and cream cheese on bagels with lemon and pepper. Just finished and it was yum! 😋
So glad we prepped tonight's dinner yesterday so just bunged lamb in the oven - already smells amazing 🥂

Your bagels sound amazing! I wouldn't have thought of adding lemon! Love cream cheese and smoked salmon with a bit of rocket. 😍 We were boring and had crumpets with Marmite; literally dripping in butter. Heaven haha! Making a tray of sarnies to take to MIL's for late lunch though, so might go a bit crazy with the cheese and make some fun concoctions!

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, cauli cheese, Yorkshire puds, honey and mustard carrots, sprouts pan fried with pancetta and chestnuts, stuffing.

I am veggie so I have made a sweet garlic and celeriac pie for me instead of chicken, and we will have the rest of that tomorrow.

I've made a traditional tiramisu for pudding and dd will have cookie dough and ice cream.

I am Scottish and this is the first time I've heard of steak pie as a tradition.

We have tattie soup and either a brace of pheasant/grouse for dinner with neeps, tatties, Oatmeal stuffing and gravy. Followed by trifle and homemade Xmas cake with tea and/or a dram/sherry.

really?!

i’m Scottish too so steak pie like i grew up on. Although 2 of my kids are vegetarian and i eat mainly plant based too (trying to fully transition lol) so have a veg based cheese pie thing.

Always with roast potatoes though not mash. My family also request carrots & parsnips & sprouts as well as pigs in blankets & stuffing balls (which are apparently the best bits of Christmas dinnner) so it’s basically a repeat of Christmas dinner but with pies which is as far as we take the tradition!

I’m Scottish so usually it would be steak pie but we didn’t bother this year. For the first time in 10 years we went to my in-laws for Christmas dinner so had a meal just the four of us at home on Boxing Day which was the wagu beef pie from M&S so a steak pie today felt a bit samey. So a take away it is, Indian, Chinese or chippy still to be decided (leaning towards chippy personally)

Scottish here too so it’s the tradition steak pie for us too.

can reminder being a teen and first footing my gran just after the bells and having our steak pie dinner when we arrived.

Do the chippy and have a chip butty on my behalf. None around here in Norway and I've been craving one since we landed. Pissed off with myself for cooking bloody posh tomato soup the last night at home.

@GiddyRobin the lemon gives it a nice wee zingyness!
Not a fan of marmite but a huge fan of anything involving dripping butter!
Hogmanay/New Year is the time of year when we push the boat out and eat all the things we love but don't eat/buy throughout the year 😁

Just cooking a gammon joint (my bargain buy from Sainsburys) we will have it with jackets salad and coleslaw
Dd has gone to her boyfriends for a roast dinner with his family

Thislittlekitten · 01/01/2025 15:25

Scottish here and should be steak pie but everyone craving an Indian curry so having that at parents instead and and steak pie on Sunday!

Blueberrycreampie · 01/01/2025 15:34

Steak Pie sometimes as yes, Scottish! Today however, roast pork and all the extras. Bonus is that I have a large container of cauli cheese not used at Christmas. Remembered to defrost it yesterday so nice addition to the roast.

Jeezitneverends · 01/01/2025 20:04

Well that was delicious even if I say it myself😂

Hope you enjoyed yours, whatever you had
