I’m Scottish so it’s the law that we Have Steak pie, mashed potatoes and peas😂
The beef’s been in the slow cooker since 8am and is just about hitting the falling apart stage 🤤, and tomorrow it’ll get a puff pastry lid before going in the oven.
Thinking I may break slightly with tradition and do roast potatoes as well as mash.
When my parents were around it was always trifle for pudding, but no real fans now, so I’ve just made a Biscoff cheesecake which is LUSH.

Whats on your menu?

Roast on New Years eve. Nothing special new years day.

SauvignonBlanche · 31/12/2024 17:54

Baked ham (after being boiled in cider) and roast potatoes. 😋

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 31/12/2024 17:59

Steak pie, mash, roasties, roasted carrots, broccoli. We're Scottish so it's tradition!

We have pigs in blankets, as no-one gets enough for Christmas dinner, served with dauphinoise potatoes and whatever veg we've got left in the fridge.

Greatdomestic · 31/12/2024 18:02

I'm Scottish, steak pie here. No sausage in it.

Doing some roasties and green veg. I've never liked mushy pees.

Kingofthetyrantlizards · 31/12/2024 18:03

Roast beef, with roasties, parsnips, yorkshires, and veg. Really fancy steak pie now, though 😆

Jakadaal · 31/12/2024 18:23

Turkey, leek and ham pie with mash and veg. Also any left over pigs in blankets in the freezer.

whatsinanameeh · 31/12/2024 18:26

Scottish, but live in England so it's roast beef dinner cos we didn't have it on Xmas day as usual

Might put a yorkshire pudding on my beef and pretend it's a pie 😂

Jellycatspyjamas · 31/12/2024 18:28

Scottish here too so steak pie, mash and carrots/brocolli. Best meal of the year in my house.

tigger1001 · 31/12/2024 18:29

Scottish here. But no new year dinner planned.

I'm actually not a huge fan of steak pie - I do make it for everyone else in the house but I could take or leave it. And these days it's too carb heavy for me anyway

MarieKlepto · 31/12/2024 18:30

Scottish. For those asking/never heard of it, originally from the North, now down the East Central Belt with friends originally from the north, Fife, the Borders and Edinburgh. All New Year's Day steak pie people. We're veggie, so tomorrow will be a veggie steak pie for DH with veg and the most excellent Simon Howie's veggie mealy pudding. I don't really like most meat subs (but love the aforementioned pudding), so will have it all minus the steak pie.

Hotafternoon · 31/12/2024 18:32

A lovely stew, made yesterday and in the fridge. One pit, barely any washing up either.

Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow, I think I've made a good choice.

PiastriThePastry · 31/12/2024 18:32

Going to my mother’s for the day, she’s doing roast beef with tiramisu for afters! I’m very excited 😂

lemonyellows · 31/12/2024 18:32

Anything goes for us

SunshinePlease24 · 31/12/2024 18:34

Haggis, neeps and tatties here.

Justwantosay · 31/12/2024 18:35

Steak Pie (yes we're Scottish) but I think there will also be roast lamb and sometimes there's a curry. We go to the inlaws for NYD, I think there are 15 of us this year and there's usually a few options to suit everyone, we all bring a contribution. We're on soup duty.

Doggymummar · 31/12/2024 18:35

Not sure if you mean tonight, or tomorrow. Tonight I did a gammon and I had it in a sourdough sandwich and my oh had it with cheesy chips. Tomorrow is will be a full on roast pork dinner

BashfulClam · 31/12/2024 18:36

NotaRealHousewife · 31/12/2024 16:31

And of courses the steak pie will have sausage in it

Nooo that’s it ruined!

BashfulClam · 31/12/2024 18:37

Steak pie but rather than mash or roasties I’m doing chips as the gravy goes so well with it.

Sortalike · 31/12/2024 18:38

Toad in the hole tomorrow with mash, broccoli and onion gravy 😋

GroovyChick87 · 31/12/2024 18:39

I do a roast dinner with whatever meat I've got left in the freezer from Christmas. This year it's a three bird roast with all the trimmings.

ShortColdandGrey · 31/12/2024 18:40

I am also scottish, and we are having steak pie.

BeaTwix · 31/12/2024 18:41

Scottish so steak pie would be traditional, usually from the butchers. I think as kids when my Gran catered we got roast potatoes and mash alongside overcooked carrots, and brocoli. Latterly, when another cook took over the roast potatoes got dropped and the carrots and brocoli were still recognisable!

I'm planning to have a massive brunch tomorrow - american style pancakes etc so have bought party food snacks stuff for the evening.

weegiemum · 31/12/2024 18:41

It's just me and dh tomorrow so we're having steak. Ds brought the left over ones home from his restaurant/bar on Christmas Eve and we froze them, so steak and wedges and salad. Kids all out/away elsewhere so just the 2 of us!

Simonjt · 31/12/2024 18:43

I’m not eating tonight so I’m doing a brunch time meal for the family. I’ve already got some of it ready, I’ve mase brazillian black bean stew, bbq corn, fitters made from black eye beans, onion and garlic, salad and then tomorrow morning i’ll make some bread, I’m not sure if i’ll go flat bread or yeast bread yet.
