I’m Scottish so it’s the law that we Have Steak pie, mashed potatoes and peas😂
The beef’s been in the slow cooker since 8am and is just about hitting the falling apart stage 🤤, and tomorrow it’ll get a puff pastry lid before going in the oven.
Thinking I may break slightly with tradition and do roast potatoes as well as mash.
When my parents were around it was always trifle for pudding, but no real fans now, so I’ve just made a Biscoff cheesecake which is LUSH.

Whats on your menu?

I don't have a set NYD dinner. Tomorrow I'm going to do chilli with nachos. I've had a lot of meat and two veg. style dinners, so time for something different.

Devonchills · 31/12/2024 16:26

I'm doing real chip pan chips, with a few different types of sausages, also some stuffing I bunged in the freezer left over from Christmas dinner.

Pineapplewaves · 31/12/2024 16:29

Full Christmas dinner again with crackers on the table. It's the last roast turkey dinner we'll have until Christmas Day 2025.

Scottish so stake pie, the peas are steeping

NotaRealHousewife · 31/12/2024 16:31

And of courses the steak pie will have sausage in it

mindutopia · 31/12/2024 16:33

Growing up it was always pork, potatoes and cabbage on New Year’s Day. I was going to pull a gammon out of the freezer to make treacle ham (from our own pigs). But I decided that couldn’t be asked with all the cooking this year.

So it’s store bought faggots with gravy, hasselback potatoes and sautéed cabbage (we did grow the cabbage ourselves!).

tuvamoodyson · 31/12/2024 16:35

Steak pie here too! (Glasgow)

worriedgal · 31/12/2024 16:53

Spaghetti bolognaise for us tomorrow
Might dig around in the freezer for a cheeky garlic bread to treat us for the new year!

Crunchymum · 31/12/2024 16:54

Dominos here.

It's my last hurrah before I'm back to cooking everyday!!

Ohhhh yes!

Ihopeyouhavent · 31/12/2024 16:58

Going to roast a gammon and have with triple cooked chips and a fried egg!

IAmNeverThePerson · 31/12/2024 17:00

Beef bourginion, mash potatoes roast veg, red cabbage and stuffing (a little odd but DS1 wanted to make it)
pudding will be Christmas pudding, pavlova and frangipane tart - leftovers from the last week.

There may or may not be a starter depending on how awake i am feeling in the morning.

Rockfordpeach · 31/12/2024 17:04

Always do a roast on new year's day. There's a farm shop next to where I work and we've decided to try and stretch our budget and buy more from there because the meat looks so much better than the supermarket. I've bought a beautiful topside of beef so looking forward to having that

HarpieDuJour · 31/12/2024 17:14

We're having huge steak pie, because it was a gift from our butcher. Would usually make one myself, but no need this year. We usually have steak pie at Christmas and a roast at New Year, but we've switched this year and had lamb for Christmas dinner.

Augustus40 · 31/12/2024 17:15

Roast chicken lunch basically Xmas lunch part two.

dementedpixie · 31/12/2024 17:15

Steak pie (also in Scotland), roast potatoes, roasted veg (for ds), mashed swede/carrot and the leftover sprouts (for me)

reluctantbrit · 31/12/2024 17:16

A roast, pork this year, with roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips and the leftover sprouts. No dessert as we are still eating sweets and cake/biscuits.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 31/12/2024 17:18

Scottish. I've eaten steak pie every NYD since I had teeth! Served with roasties and sprouts

Keekabooyou · 31/12/2024 17:20

home steak pie here too (central Scotland) mash carrots/swede mash and trifle.

Soontobe60 · 31/12/2024 17:20

Im not Scottish. We’re having beef and ale pie, mash, carrots and broccoli. Im also making cheese and onion pie for the veggies.
No starter, and ice cream for pud, plus mince pies, Christmas cake and the last of the Roses.

StMarie4me · 31/12/2024 17:29

I used to try to do a family NYD dinner but tbh we're all just tired and need a quiet day these days!

Groovee · 31/12/2024 17:32

MIL's steak pie for dinner tomorrow. Stovies tonight.

StiggyZardust · 31/12/2024 17:38

Slow cooked shoulder of lamb with lemon potatoes and broccoli.

aintnospringchicken · 31/12/2024 17:49

I'm Scottish too.
Has to be steak pie.I'm making my own and having it with mashed tatties, carrots and broccoli.
