Who's cleaning and de-cluttering?

I'm on a mission - I'm off till the 6th (we do have visitors coming tomorrow for 3 days so that'll hold me up) We have too much stuff and I'm sick of it. Just having the pantry cleared has made me feel way more motivated!

Already done:

  • Emptied, cleaned and organised the fridge freezer
  • Emptied and organised the pantry
  • Pully out cupboard next to the cooker emptied and organised

To do:

  • Empty and re-organise kitchen cupboards and drawers (only have bottom cupboards / drawers so not as big a job as it sounds)
  • Empty and sort my junk drawer in the living room
  • Sort mine and ds' shoe boxes and list some on Vinted
  • Empty and sort ds' Kallax - massive job. He'll moan and help
  • Empty and sort utility room cupboards
  • Sort ds' clothes and other Christmas stuff. List older stuff on Vinted

My main issue will be getting the stuff out of the house - I don't drive so need to enlist DH and he HATES doing charity shop runs!

Since Monday I've got a tonne done I'm really proud of my usually lazy self! I'm 32 weeks pregnant and getting into that EVERYTHING needs to be thrown away and the whole house needs a deep deep deep clean

  • all decorations down
  • scrubbed the front door and entrance hall skirting boards , hoovered and mopped
  • scrubbed the banister clean , every single bit!
  • all the junk shoved on my kitchen sides went in the bin
  • descaled kettle, deep cleaned dishwasher and oven, lifted kettle toaster and microwave off the side and scrubbed the hell out of it
  • kitchen cupboard, windows and window ledge all got a nice clean
  • floor is tiles so I went on my hands and knees with some bleach and hot water and got scrubbing
  • food cupboards went through got rid of some bits that were out of date (gross I know!) made a bag for the food bank and kept a few bits
  • made a meal plan with the food we had left in the house
  • done a few loads of washing and put that away
  • every inch of the 3 bathroom has been bleached
  • cleared of my dining room table that was just a dumping ground for months
  • threw a whole black bag worth of things out of my dressing room (only went through 3 draws, 6 more to go, then the clothes!)

I'm on a ROLL!

Hi All, I have so much to declutter and no room to store it so I'm pretty much giving it all away on Olio. Good stuff included - chairs, lightshades and so on. I have pangs of guilt about the money spent and wasted... but to list it all on FB Marketplace would take hours and weeks to get rid of it all for probably not a lot.

Does anyone have words of advice? Can you give me "permission" to get rid of it all free of charge? I am feeling so much guilt. 😥I will attempt to sell some of it but honestly feel like it will take me weeks to list and sell all of it - so it's easier to just freebie it.

NB I would give to charity but don't have a car hence Olio easier!

Edited

I post most of my things on vinted , if not sold in a week it goes on olio/to charity. Atleast I tried to get some pennys back! If it's not sold in a week my decluttering is at a standstill so it has to go for free!

@Starry you absolutely should feel like you have permission!

Can you compromise? 1 bag of easy to sell stuff that you maybe already have Vinted style packaging for, another bag for the bin and 1 for the charity shop?

Mee! We emptied and sold two big billy bookcases before the tree went up and I've had books and boardgames floating round since, and filling up the Xmas tree box.

I've now bought a replacement half size Billy that is all the space I'm allowing myself. So I'm being ruthless with books and DVDs.

Not even getting enough money from reselling to meet the minimum. The pain is definitely getting it out the house. The charity shops were really sniffy before Christmas and I'm sure it'll be worse now.

@NorthernGirlie Thank you I like your suggested approach! Getting on Vinted is definitely something I've been thinking about for a while now. I'm so looking forward to getting some free space in my home again.
