This is such a lovely post thank you. Am currently on a cheese free week as overdid it and have throbbing toe joints. But will be keeping your recommendations on standby.

@Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson

toe joints... cheese????

what's the link?

I usually low carb & cheese is important to me!! But my joints do hurt, never noticed a link??

devildeepbluesea · 30/12/2024 12:47

I’m a bit of a cheese snob, but my absolute favourite for a couple of years now is Blacksticks Blue. I just break a piece off and eat straight from the fridge.

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 12:50

Ah, but have you tried 1912 Golden Blue Artisan Blue Cheese?

My local Lidl had the best Stilton I've had in years. It was slightly dry, white and crumbly as opposed to being yellow and waxy. I ate all of it and went back for more but it was sold out. 😭

Gout I imagine, but cauliflower is also a major cause of gout, so cut that out first!

Not exactly fancy, but Oh wow, a Morrisons one.

It's like a red leister whirl. With garlic and herbs in white swirled into it.

It talks to you. "Eat me". " eat me alllllllllll" from the fridge.

Think it has some kind of addiction within

I. Can. Confirm. 🧀 🍭

herbetta · 30/12/2024 13:10

Also 'Smoked Shropshire Red' from the Sainsbury's TTD range - a fantastic cross twixt a brilliant Smoked & a strong crunchy cheddar 👍

ItsYourMoneyRalf · 30/12/2024 13:13

Colston Bassets Stilton. The absolute BEST 👌

AllTheChaos · 30/12/2024 13:14

The Snowdonia cheeses are amazing, and come in cute little truckles. Plus after Christmas their hampers are often reduced and full of goodies! The Black Bomber and Green Thunder cheeses are particular favourites. In fact, I think I hear them calling to me from the fridge even as I type 😂

Ohnobackagain · 30/12/2024 13:26

Oooh @stringsoup when I googled I found a French post suggesting not to confuse Saint-Felicien with its cousin Saint Marcellin. Saint-Felicien is apparently richer, creamier and contains more fat! Yum! Also Côte at home has lovely French cheese by delivery which has meant I’ve tried a few I wouldn’t have …

Lollzi86 · 30/12/2024 13:32

sainsburys Brie with truffles. Yom yom

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 30/12/2024 13:52

Cremeux De Bourgogne - I have never tasted a creamer cheese. I have limit myself of buying it once a month, I could buy a wheel and just plunge my face into it. Not that I fantasise about that much. 😳

TheRainItRaineth · 30/12/2024 14:20

St Felicien is amazing! One of my favourites. I had no idea it was in Tesco now. Thank you!

I've eaten the Yorkshire Blue before even leaving Waitrose car park!
Just one of the reasons I have a stone and a half to lose.

Bigcheeserolling · 30/12/2024 14:33

Did they over order and the use by day is approaching Ms Tesco 😄?

Bigcheeserolling · 30/12/2024 14:34

And more importantly, can it be rolled 🤔

PiggyPigalle · 30/12/2024 14:34

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 12:01

Well, it's a bit like a particularly tasty brie without the bother of the rind

Please don't say you discard the rind.

catzrulz · 30/12/2024 14:37

If you like Brie, you'll love this. Do not open your fridge if you have visitors who don't get the smell of cheese wafting gently out.

I love the Kaltbach, the cheese shop down the road sells it. I popped in today to get a final bit of cheese as he's closed all of January. Got some lovely crumbly Lancashire.

No cheese club in January but it's back in February!

Ferro · 30/12/2024 14:54

These threads always reveal a divide between the people who think good cheese is wrapped in wax with fruit or herbs in it, and the people who think good cheese smells like a sheep's arse.

Thetrickcyclist · 30/12/2024 14:54

It's a supermarket one but I am really enjoying Smouldering Ember Red Leicester (a smoked RL). Morrisons sells it in small hunks. I may have bought a few...
I also liked the smoked Shropshire from Sainsbury's mentioned by a PP. And my local cheese shop sold me a very nice wedge of Lincolnshire Poacher. It's so difficult now to find a supermarket Cheddar that is tangy and crumbly, they all seem so soggy and damp now when I cut them out of the packet

unsync · 30/12/2024 15:10

I do like an unpasteurised cheese. TBF I do like any cheese, except Gouda and Edam. Now I want some cheese.

Thanks for your reply.

i meant other joints. Touch wood toe joints are ok, I'm going to hope it's not gout & stuck my fingers in my ears! as a vegetarian who doesn't eat eggs & seriously low carbs for medical reasons (not weight loss ones) I serious can take cheese & cauliflower off my 'few foods I can eat' list.
