Are you a cheese-fluencer drunk on whatever wine goes best with st-felicien du dauphine?

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 11:54

No just incompetent 😊

Black bullet cheddar

Coastal extra mature cheddar

Wensleydale cranberry

theduchessofspork · 30/12/2024 11:55

Thank you for your cheese love PP

It’s a joy to read, and also a handy tip. Win win

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/12/2024 11:57

Aldi’s red fox Red Leicester and Lidl’s Somerset crunchy cheddar. Yum.

AlbertCamusflage · 30/12/2024 11:59

It is a timely thread for me. I am headed to Tesco soon with the ambition of stocking up on low-carb antidotes to Christmas grazing, and cheese figures highly on my list of intended purchases.
Will I go for st-felicien du dauphine? I don't know. What is the particular character of its deliciousness?

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 30/12/2024 12:00

Will try, thanks OP

Will add to the list ..Whipped Feta.

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 12:01

Well, it's a bit like a particularly tasty brie without the bother of the rind

No - see what you started, PPs now pitching in with their cheese tips, you couldn’t BE more competent

for supermarket cheese winners I would like to throw in

M and S pie d'angloys - Camembert like loveliness

and M and S Cornish Cruncher - best SM cheddar I reckon

Butthistimesticktoit · 30/12/2024 12:07

I am here to second the st felicien and also to recommend for low carb goodness that it is excellent with celery or endive.

Tygertiger · 30/12/2024 12:07

My cheese revelation this year has been from Costco. Somerset cheddar with truffle. Comes in black wax. It’s divine.

AlbertCamusflage · 30/12/2024 12:10

OK, I think I may go for it, OP. You officially are now a cheese-fluencer.

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 12:16

My cheese revelation this year was the rediscovery of an old favourite. Lincolnshire Poacher was a cheeseboard regular back at the turn of the century (god, doesn’t that make me sound old 🤣) but I hadn’t had it for years. Then a neighbour, in France of all places, had some on their cheeseboard and it was delicious. I think they were pandering to the foreigner…though it turns out they loved it. I’d forgotten just how good it is!

Staffordshire or Scottish??

stringsoup · 30/12/2024 12:23

Scottish, McKenzies

Montagnolo Affine cheese - try it and thank me later. It combines the creamy goodness of Brie with the bite of a blue cheese.

January may have to be a cheese free zone as I have taken my appreciation of a cheese board to the extreme over Christmas. Still have New Year’s cheese board to go. At this point it’s almost endurance eating.

jhar · 30/12/2024 12:40

Not exactly fancy, but Oh wow, a Morrisons one.

It's like a red leister whirl. With garlic and herbs in white swirled into it.

It talks to you. "Eat me". " eat me alllllllllll" from the fridge.

Think it has some kind of addiction within

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · 30/12/2024 12:41

This is such a lovely post thank you. Am currently on a cheese free week as overdid it and have throbbing toe joints. But will be keeping your recommendations on standby.

SnoopySantaPaws · 30/12/2024 12:45

I'm going to cause Tesco to have a melt down if I open tomorrow's delivery AGAIN so I'll keep this in mind for my next order!

Finetoday · 30/12/2024 12:46

M&S Blackstick Blue - an orange ‘blue’ cheese.
Brought it by mistake one year thinking it was a hard cheese - it’s flipping glorious!
