I’m trying not to give any spoilers but I did really enjoy Christmas episode. I’ve just watched it now however I want to know has anybody ever been to a wedding where people have stood up and said that person can’t marry that person because is that just something that happens in films or does it ever happen in real life?

On "trending now" this is what shows

After watching Gavin and Stacey do people really ...

Why click on it if you don't want to know what happened?

Edited

The full title is seen when viewing in the app. I don't know how other people read but I read in chunks so that whole title is taken in in one go. Too quickly to stop myself from seeing a spoiler.

But as I said earlier, I've never watched the programme in my life so I don't care. I'm just here for the absolute bedlam this thread has become.

derbiee · 28/12/2024 01:24

It has already aired it is not a spoiler

I read on phone. Oh same here. I've only seen the very occasional clip which puzzled me as to why it's so popular

I clicked on it because I thought it might say After watching Gavin and Stacey, do people really think it's funny?

2021x · 28/12/2024 01:29

The only thing that bothered me is the fact that the bridesmaids came before the bride and the groom watched the bride walking up the isle.

raya223 · 28/12/2024 01:31

Omg the carry on from the ones moaning about it being a spoiler. It's all over the news and social media about it. Get a grip! Some people just love to moan.

LeHorla · 28/12/2024 01:32

@Wintershealing shame they were killed off in the tucktuck accident. Then again, maybe it's for the best. At least Nessa only lost one leg.

Reallybadidea · 28/12/2024 01:33

TBF lots of people have been rewatching the first 2 seasons and Smithy objected at Nessa's wedding back in ?series 2. So I'm not sure why everyone leapt to the conclusion that the thread title was a spoiler for the Xmas special.

I've never seen a full episode of Gavin and Stacey. Is that a spoiler or a wind up?

Either way, it's brilliant.

True. But least she got to see pam and chinese walk down the aisle, even though Pete objected as he's always been secretly in love with pam!

Printedword · 28/12/2024 01:37

I think being jilted at the altar is quite rare. Objections collective or singular likewise. I was jilted by my first fiancé but not at ye church and I've never met anyone else this has happened to. I dread to think how much worse it would have been actually like the movie versions.

LeHorla · 28/12/2024 01:46

Oh @Printedword this is such a cruel thing to do to someone. I'm so sorry. Really hope it was for the best for you eventually.
And that his balls rotted and fell off.

I hope this doesn't spoil things for anyone who may not yet have watched Wallace and Gomit, but I have to tell someone.

They are not real people at all, but made of PLASTICINE...😱

It’s a massive spoilers.

In a wedding when they ask if anyone knows why they should marry you can’t object on grounds of them not loving each other or he shagged the bridesmaid last night. It has to be a legal reason like already married or using a fake identity.

i always presumed eg an affair would be reason enough ?

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 28/12/2024 02:08

No. It has to be a legal impediment. E.g, still married/ forbidden relations/ under age/ fake identity.

Why? They need to legally know not moral judgements, and affair is not against the law

You and @TheDowagerCountessofPembroke have got it right.
I just wanted to post really to suggest you should get together to let

My mum is a Vicar. She says if anyone says anything during the 'speak now or forever hold your peace' bit, then it all stops and the bride, groom: and whoever spoke up needs do go and have a chat with her about it in the vestry. My Mum has refused to carry on with the Wedding on 4 occasions

However whoever speaks up is responsible for Paying for the wedding, Whether they go ahead after the interruption or not

That last para just isn’t true.
If someone had to pay then no one would speak out. The whole thing would be pointless

because i didnt realise it had to be legal, besides would you really want to stand by and watch a friend get married knowing one of them was having an affair ?

just researched it seems it does have to be a legal reason, that said im sure if someone did mention an affair it would soon be holy trinity for the wedding
