So I was out for a Boxing Day run this morning (madness many of you may think) but not as mad I thought as the folk queuing outside Lush in the city centre waiting for the doors to open and the sale to start.

Please, what am I misssing out on? I've never shopped at Lush! TIA

Nasty, nasty politics. Google the blog "mitherings from morningside" for insider info.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/12/2024 17:33

I also work on the same industrial estate that they are on and when the wind blows in the wrong direction ….

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/12/2024 17:35

Bunch of headache inducing performantive politics wankers.
There was a video doing the rounds recently of their members of staff in New York verbally abusing a Jewish man. That with the chest binders, and the making their staff go pose naked for a publicity stunt. Awful company.

GingerBeverage · 26/12/2024 17:37

It’s strange how they’re known for a political stance but operate in Saudi Arabia?

BahHumbug24 · 26/12/2024 17:38

I love Lush stuff. It's expensive though so it is a treat

Mochudubh · 26/12/2024 17:41

Our nearest one moved premises over a year ago. Their former store has been empty ever since and you can still smell it as you go past.

Hskatkat · 26/12/2024 17:43

Katypp · 26/12/2024 16:51

Yep, i rest my case. Because there are no candles anywhere cheaper than Yankee.

Of course there are loads of cheap candle to buy if you so wish.
You buy whatever you like but I don't buy synthetic scented candles & would not consider Yankee an upgrade.
Cheap nasty scents.

Iamanunsafebuilding · 26/12/2024 18:04

I love their skincare, I have sensitive skin and am careful what I use but Lush does agree with me. I use a wash off cleanser in the shower (either Angels on Bareskin or Let the good times roll), toner (Eau Roma water), body spray (let the good times roll) and I love a Lush shower gel. Individual products smell nowhere near as strong as the shop smell suggests and if you ask the staff to leave you alone they generally do. Posters on here are weirdly sneery about Lush!

EllieRosesMammy · 26/12/2024 18:06

I'm an absolute sucker for Lush. I got so much Lush stuff for Christmas and I'm not complaining at all. Mad considering I have sensitive skin, so probably shouldn't be using half their products 😂

Mittens67 · 26/12/2024 18:07

I don’t like Lush because they think women can have a penis and that children should be given breast binders.
I also don’t like their ugly packaging.

Dodgydodgydodgy · 26/12/2024 18:12

Lush turns to mush after one go!

No love from me.

So many superior natural soaps out there now.

Skincare is okay but expensive.

I think @Katypp was being sarcastic....

Moier · 26/12/2024 18:33

My daughters love it.. l can't cope with the smell of lush shops and don't go near.. tomorrow I'm going to town with my daughter.. she wants the lush shop.. I'll be two shops away in Clarks.

Hobbes8 · 26/12/2024 18:41

It’s such a weird place. Hugely overpowering scents and hot pink bath bombs and glitter, but if you can fight through the stench they have excellent natural skin care products. It’s so expensive now though, and I’m sure the sale is only the lurid/glittery gift boxes.

Caselgarcia · 26/12/2024 18:50

I used to love it, but I grew tired of picking dried petals, glitter and other unnecessary items out of the bath after using their products. The sales assistants gush about each of their bubble bath slab things being good for more than one bath, so I broke them in half making a crumbly mess. Then I'm confused about how to store/keep the other lump of crumbs for my next bath? It's a bit style over substance for me - that and their questionable politics mean I don't use their products anymore.

Spirallingdownwards · 26/12/2024 18:54

SmokeRingsOfMyMind · 26/12/2024 16:34

This thread will attract the same weird competitive types as any mention of polyester - people desperately trying to demonstrate that they are so sensitive and refined that they can't be in the same postcode as a scented soap/ artificial fibre/ processed ingredient/ (insert your preferred declasse reference here).

I don't even know if I can use the products because the stench is too much to go near the store though. And I promise I am not a sensitive flower or too refined to use cheap shit (if I could get near it 🤣🤣)

TepidBathofManagedDecline · 26/12/2024 18:56

I loved CTG, I love the smell of the shops, but I hate the pushiness of the sales folk and I hate their attitude towards women. The naked apron thing? Nah. Nor the breast binders. So I don't shop there anymore, I just sniff as I walk past.

Iirc only the female staff.Hmm

LuluBlakey1 · 26/12/2024 19:22

I can't be bothered with it at all. Pushy, ridiculously 'snobby' staff (with nothing to be 'snobby' about) and products I don't want at all.

mathanxiety · 26/12/2024 19:40

One of my DDs and I ventured into a Lush location in the US ten days before Christmas looking for a gift for someone who takes baths and likes bath stuff. We smelled every single product in the shop. Only one thing smelled reasonably nice, and we bought it. We both ended up with headaches, and my goodness was the sales assistant pushy.

Readysetgooo · 26/12/2024 20:22

I've really struggled with shampoo over the years, was always greasy even after washing. Lush does two shampoos and a conditioner I love and have been using them for about 15 years. It's super fresh and light and leaves my hair clean and in good condition. I'm not really a fan of most other products though. A lot of them are very floral and a bit sickly for me so I tend to stick to the shampoo and conditioner. I've got a voucher to use in the spa though so will go along and give it a go.

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 26/12/2024 20:34

I used to love a hair mask they did in Lush specifically for blonde hair called Marilyn. It was lovely. Probably doesn’t hold a candle now to Olaplex and the like but at the time it was the bees knees.

They’re not at all pushy in the Birmingham city centre one thank god. I can’t go near a bath bomb these days as I only have to look at them and I get thrush but I do like very much some of their shower gels. Honey I washed the kids or Sticky Dates.

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2024 20:38

There are a couple of their bubble bars which I like, never had a problem with thrush but I do always shower after a bath anyway so perhaps that has helped in that department?!
dc had the body sprays, perfumes and shower scrubs in their stockings this year and my fil buys me and the dc boxes of bath bombs for Christmas. So we are stocked for a bit!
I don’t queue for shops though and definitely don’t arse myself with Boxing Day sales - however I imagine those that do just want bargains, same as anyone who queues in the sales. It’s hardly a mystery is it 😂
