I know it's not been officially announced that George is going to Eton .. but if he is where will Charlotte go?

You'd be surprised at how receptive children (and parents) can be to closing ranks for king and country. When a child at school participated in a major royal event, not the slightest, most innocent little fact was ever discussed and no questions were asked by anyone, before, or after, or ever: children can be very loyal and no parent wants to end up in social Siberia. (and that is now the full extent of my no-claim to royal fame 😂)

Agree for Georges age, but not Louis age

Eton make it clear that pupils are full boarding but pupils can leave occasionally to meet family e.g. lunch with a visiting relative.
It would be cruel to make George stand out even more by taking him out of school frequently.

I don't think George would 'stand out' at Eton, exactly.

I would definitely end up in social Siberia as my dc are both spillers😅 I think I'd be very discreet myself!

I take it you're not local.

I reckon Charters would stretch the catchment area for them!

Eton takes a number of kids on full scholarships so George would be meeting kids from all walks of life.
I don't think they will be split up though, they'll go mixed.

Louis is only 6. Six year olds are never discrete unless they are terrified of their parents, which Louis obviously is not. I heard lots about parents private lives that children this age told me. Things I am sure the parents did not realise the children had over heard.

Yes it would be interesting to be a fly in the wall in the classroom & hear what info is divulged!
I always thought it interesting that no info was ever leaked from parents on the school run or from playdates & parties?

Also wonder if Pippa's kids also go to Lambrook? Did her husband go to Eton also?

How academic is Marlborough these days? Less so than Kate’s days?

LostittoBostik · 27/12/2024 13:30

Why does anyone care?

He went to Uppingham
None of them would be bright enough to get into Eton these days
(I thought that included George who allegedly hasn't got in? )

MerryMaker · 27/12/2024 13:34

@JollyHollyMe where did you hear George has not got into Eton?

Edited

Thinks. Apparently Eton is very difficult to get into but that gifted boys from poorer backgrounds now can get in on full scholarships which is fair as it should be for the brightest & best.
Anyone know where Pippa's go?

I would he very surprised if George couldn’t get in but having come from a poor background myself I think it is only right that bright boys get a chance to go to elite schools. Amazing - life changing / social justice for them.

LeHorla · 27/12/2024 13:45

Are you kidding, there's no way George wouldn't get in. Even if he was not academic, he absolutely would if it was their family's choice - fgs they took Harry 😂

New Head though- been very clear not accepting on the grounds that your family went before.

But if he wasn't able to get in through the usual selective route, would it be the right environment for him? Being at the bottom of a super-selective school wouldn't be much fun.

That's not to say that I think he would or wouldn't get in on merit, I've no idea.

User14March · 27/12/2024 13:51

The old head of Eton said if the boy was just about up to the mark academically & a parent offered cash to fund another’s place he’d favourably consider.

CruCru · 27/12/2024 13:56

I don’t know whether George is very academic or not. His mum is very bright - a relative went to school with her.

MerryMaker · 27/12/2024 13:59

@CruCru I have zero idea if what that poster says is true. But a bright parent does not necessarily have a bright child.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/12/2024 13:59

George isn't just a legacy applicant he's a Prince Of The Realm, it's a very different kettle of fish entirely. They will have whatever their top pick of schools just as Charles attended Cambridge with 2 E's at A Level or similar grades

User14March · 27/12/2024 14:01

Re: Harry, IMO his biggest issue at Eton was he wasn’t academically interested enough.

Harry was only sent to Eton to keep him with William after Diana died. It was the wrong fit.

Completely agree. It is a very positive step forwards & a life changing opportunity for the very bright boys who no doubt have also worked very hard to earn their place there.
